As someone whos been making art for 10+ years I've slowly been losing my passion for it in the last few years due to feeling discouraged and feeling like what I make isn't good enough or skilled enough for how long i've been doing it. Watching dish grow so much and seeing her learn and have fun with her art honestly brings back my passion for it and makes me want to go draw right now. it's so encouraging.

Hyperfixation really does improve art! I’ve been drawing Genshin art since I started playing nearly 2 years ago, and nothing has made me want to improve my art as much as that fandom. There’s so many talented artists there that I look up to and push me to keep trying.

Amazing quote from SamDoesArt: "You need to learn the rules, before you break them." Honestly art is one of the most difficult things to learn, because it is different for everyone, but you're doing AMAZING so far!!!!!!

Honestly, that advice is so real. I got so much better at drawing humans because I wanted to draw my favourite 2013 Minecraft RU-vidrs as their borderlands personas. Fanart is the best fuel for art because it just feels so good.

I think you finally understood the difference between drawing and painting. The blocking in the shapes and building is painting, you dont have to worry because it will come together in the end. The planning and line work is drawing, they are 2 different skills but most people lump them together without knowing it. I went through that process myself with oil painting. Once you get it, then you REALLY get it.

Honestly such a good exercise! I'm now inspired to the same to brush up on my body anatomy, Maybe I should let myself fall back into my Pirates of the Caribbean obsession. Thank you for deciding to post your art journey again, it's so fun to see how much you have improved in such a short time<3

as person who drew for more than 10 years i can agreed: go wild, go as you can and as you like. There's always be the "right way" but that way can be something you don't enjoy or just feel like it's not it. So trying different stuff, learning from others, trying to seek and pick stuff which fit to you and the way you want to draw and imagine stuff.

my decision to stop worrying about whether my art "counted as art" just because it was majorly fanart was a HUGE blessing to me art-wise. I had a pretty awful dry period when it came to art for a few months because of some rough things I was going through in life, and I just recently started getting into Sonic. Let me tell you - nothing has been more fulfilling and healing than letting that hyperfixation sweep me off of my feet and back into art. My art has been improving dramatically lately after plateauing for so long and I have genuine inspiration and motivation to do it. It's so encouraging that you're having a similar experience letting your interests influence and spur you on in art, and those pieces are just amazing!!

I got obsessed with OMORI during summer on May 2021 and that got me back to drawing after stopping completely the year prior... then my sister got a drawing tablet for me and all I did was draw OMORI. I don't draw OMORI all the time anymore but I've improved a lot since then so I can say that yes, having an obsession with something can indeed help you improve your art LOL

honestly as someone else learning art from scratch as well, i also realised that i struggle with a fear of failure which creates a big barrier of entry. this one video taught me so much about the importance of mindset and finding the right technique! super proud of ur progress and thank u so much for sharing this with us! you've inspired me so so much already and i can't wait to see ur further progress :D
