How old is each Thomas & Friends character's basis? T&F Age Comparison 

Since people don’t like reading the description or the beginning of the video I’ll say it here. The dates are based on when the FIRST of the characters basis was built. Yes Toby was canonically built in 1914 but the FIRST of his basis was built in 1903, hence why he’s placed there. Let’s put this into perspective with the information in the video. Gremlin the dog’s origin date is 3,700 BC in the VIDEO, and considering the life span of dalmations is 10-14 years, he would’ve died at 3686 BC or sooner. WAYY BEFORE charters like Stephen was even built. Gremlin appeared in an episode with Thomas and Gordon and if he was born in 3,700 BC then he shouldn’t’ve been in the episode with that logic. The origin date for Gremlin is a reference to when dalmations were FIRST bred. Another example. I ranked the elephant in Henry and the Elephant to 34 million BC because it was around the time the first elephants started to appear (I think, I’m not fully sure but it was 100% a very long time ago). ANYWAYS, IF the elephant that appears in the episode was born 34 million years ago then that would mean that the elephant is a time traveler because the episode includes HENRY who wasn’t built until 1919, canonically. I hope that cleared things up. I’m surprised nobody caught onto the fact that I CLEARLY didn’t incorporate canonical build dates when the TOAD(the animal, not the breakvan) is older than Thomas, Edward, Gordon and James by 310 MILLION years. Did it not seem strange that the animals were all older than the train characters? Yes there were exceptions to the “first-basis-built” rule but they’re only a small minority in the video. And of COURSE I will make mistakes, it’s a LARGE set of characters I’m researching and I’m human just like you are. If you notice a mistake, great, tell me where I went wrong and give me some evidence, I’ll really appreciate it. Sorry for this little rant but I really had to adress it!!!

Emily's designer was of Scottish descent, so it makes sense that she has a Scottish accent. It also does for Connor and Caitlin, as their basis were built by Irish immigrants. Also, Connor is a New York Central locomotive while Caitlin is a Baltimore & Ohio locomotive.

The standard gauge treat the narrow gauge engines like little engines in the show. But in real life the narrow gauge engines are very, very old.

Timothy’s basis could have been built anytime between 1908 and 1934.

I'm starting to think maybe Bradford was used during WW2; his mannerisms do sound like they come from the military and he's built during that timeframe.

Hey peeps, I would like to adress some oopsie poopsies I've noticed by myself. 1. Captain's description says he's the only boat in the list with a known basis which is incorrect. I added skiff in the list last minute and I forgot to change the description. 2. The slip coaches weren't treated like the Horrid Lorries, I counted the slip coaches as 1 entry but the rankings below them only go up by two so not much changes really. 3. Emily and the Tumbleweed's part of the timeline are misused. They were created/introduced in 1870 which is still part of the same decade as Duke, Rheneas, Whiff ect and yet they have the background and timeline music of 1871-1880. I have no "good" excuse. I just thought the music would fit better if Emily was the first character introduced. The same also applies to Molly. 4. The background for 1991-2000 has the Class 390 as its background when the EMU itself was built in 2001 and introduced in 2002. Again no good excuse, I just wanted to add it. 5. samson's entry mentions that Glynn is older than him which is incorrect. I did mention that I originally placed Glynn between stephen and Iron Duke in his description so this was just me forgetting to update samson's entry. 6. In Lady’s entry I was talking about her life-sized model. Not the gauge 1 model.

Plus, you'll be very shockingly surprisingly pleased to happily know that I seriously just suddenly realized that his own official real-life locomotive basis counterpart was basically built to run on standard gauge tracks! He'd been sent to work in Cuba for their own official sugar industry, but nonetheless some years later, he'd been officially sent to the Island of Sodor where he ran into a misunderstandable mishap when nobody understood what he tried to tell 'em that the chains holding down his own official 4 drive wheels to the ship's deck were un-ship-shape SINCE he only spoke Espanol back then when he was basically painted yellow with green lines! Plus, according directly to the info right here, he's a saddle-tank/pannier tank engine design! I seriously guess that you certainly COULD say that he's a hybrid of Percy the Small green saddle-tank engine alongside Duck the Great Western Railway 57OO class pannier tank engine! Also, apparently for another awesome well-known fact is basically that come to really carefully think 'bout it much further, Victor certainly happens to be exactly 14 years older than Duck the Great Western Railway 57OO class pannier tank engine! i found out that lady was based on a 1950's coal shunting locomotive. sadly, non survived the dieselization and were all scrapped country of origin unclear.

I was kind of hoping for a Boxhill mention, as they were mentioned, but not illustrated, in the book where Thomas goes to NRM. Might not have been really needed since you weren't working off of canonical build dates, and Boxhill being the youngest surviving terrier.
