My dad just gave me a seiko 6309 and I was able to tell it was from 1980 and made in July. Very cool watch, it was in storage and it still works like new, just had to shake it and it's good. Original strap and no service so all original watch. Seiko 6309 turtle shell
I bought a 6309 in January 1985, it was made in July 1984. I can barely read the bezel, it ran all that time except for when I was dating this one woman and the watch refused to work, lol. It runs perfectly and I still wear it.
No need to worry about my Seiko Kinetic 150 Sport...i have it`s birthcert and service history since i bought it new back in 1995. One and only watch ever since.

Hey mate thanks for the video! The 7S26C started production in 2011 though not 2016. My SKX007 has a serial number starting with 54 and a 7S26C movement. (Manufactured in 2015)
My seiko 5 has 7s26C but the first two digits are 2N. I am wondering if my watch was made in 2012 November, or 2022 November. I bought that watch in 2023. Any idea?
I need your help. My seiko 5 has 7s26C which started production in 2011. Now I'm wondering if the first two digits 2N indicate, November 2012, or November 2022. Apparently they stopped producing 7s26 movements recently but I don't know how recently. There isn't any clear info online

The first two numbers for my SKX is "6" and "3". And movement is 7S26A, which was replaced with the 7S26B in October 2006... So I guess that means my SKX was made either in March 1996 or March 2006 since the 7S26 was still available for both decades?

i bought a seiko 5 super cub edition. I've been looking everywhere but there's limited info and from what I read on one website, from 2019, seiko 5s do not have the 6or7 serial number. My questions are, does it not have one then? if it does, where can I find it?
It does have a serial number on the lip of the case back it's hard to find. However the new Seiko 5S do not use the same type of serial, so this video would not be valid for those new ones

I have a Seiko SRPD73 with the serial number starting with 5. Well, the watch was launched only in 2019 and as far as I know we are not in 2025 yet so, are you sure that those numbers represent the year of manufactoring?
so the year is 1983, 1993, 2003, 2013, month is June. But to narrow it down more need to know your type of watch and movement type is it 7s26a? b? c? etc.

It should not be 1995 cos SKX007/009 was launched in1996 and discontinued in Dec 2019 (23 Years) including this year Dec 2022 will be 26 years. Based on your 5D0254 with 7S26A should be 2005. The movement A was launched in 1996-2006/7, B movement was 2008-2010 and the C movement was 2011 onwards. Mine (SKX007J) was in Aug 1997 counting this year 2022 will be 25 years old (Quarter of a century old).

@EscapementWatch I have serial number 660803, 2A23-0029 A3 Do I need to open the back like you did to figure out the date it was made and any other details? I'm pretty sure it was a birthday gift in July 1985-87.
