A suggested video idea: do you know what makes the old money education different from that of mainstream education? (Talking from an American perspective, I’m not sure about In Britain) Students in old money circles are taught a “classical education”. In the US we are not taught in a classical way. Though there is a new trend to return to classical education through homeschooling because the public schools are going downhill. Maybe you can do a video on what makes up an old school classical education (logic, rhetoric, using original manuscripts instead of text book summaries, etc.). Another video: I realize that you’ve done the topic of style before but have you noticed the details of how people of pedigree hold themselves, have refined speech, and their impeccable hygiene? For instance, fuller eyebrows on women have always looked classier than thin, over-tweezed eyebrows. They always look natural (even when wearing makeup) and effortlessly put-together. For example if they color their hair it always looks natural, never having roots showing or a hairstyle that never looks natural such as vertical curls. As a Speech therapist, their speech characteristics have uniquely interested me. Did you know that you can almost immediately figure out someone’s class based on their speech (their dialect, syntax, intonation, and the topic of which they speak). Do a blind test of speech segments from people from different class systems and you will be able to differentiate their status quickly.

I admire how the aristos,the really sensible ones have reinvented ttemselves as busines executives. The "business" being their huge stately home and grounds. I saw the Duchess of Caernarvon (Highclere Castle aka Downton Abbey) do a talk in Bath and she was no nonsense. She is a business executive she states. The late previous Duchess of Devonshire,the Mitford sister one,too was very proud of her entrepreneurial ability. Good for them I say. I read "The Tyranny of Merit" by Michael Sandell. In this book he describes how those ivy league schools in USA plus Oxbridge in England and other high end educational establishments kept their sense of exclusivity and their gloss of desirability in the face of the supposed democratising of the 1960s civil rights movement and other legal changes. Its done very subtly and cleverly,as you wouid expect of such places. It really is very naughty to read how by framing questions a certain way,by designing papers and exams a certain way they can still keep out the ones that are not "in the golden circle". Its almost invisible,it takes a trained mind to spot it.

Reminds me of one of the Phipps daughters of Old Westbury Gardens. Large estate and manor house, large winter estate down south. On a tour, a woman asked, but what did your mother do? She never worked? "No, not for a paycheck perhaps, but she had 75 direct employees, entertained and hosted hundreds each year to support her husband's banking and investment business, raised successful children. and supported many, many charities. Including making her home a redsidential institution for stranded European children during the war. All without need of a master's degree."

Excellent video as always. There are 2 things to notice: the first is that some videos highlight the values and directions considered, others don't. Traditional and wealthy families always live around their values and that is the source of their wealth. When those aren't shown, I think there's something missing. Second, the voice is very good, but we can clearly feel changes of tone and energy across the video, which brings the sensation of changing in the mood of the owner of the voice. Despite that, good work, gentlemen.

Sometimes old money females have a lot in common with ghetto bitches at the bottom of the pile. Remember Bertha from Jane Eyre? Well my mom once managed an inner city motel where a resident behaved the exact same way. She would throw things around her room and scream to herself at 2, 3 in the morning. But when you think about it, it really compels the children to preserve the family's wealth if you abuse them til they lose their minds. At that point they need enough money to insulate themselves from public disgrace and human interaction altogether. It's like, sink or swim, you know?

Don't take offense, it's not my fault I don't get to enjoy luxury, there's a different life calling (cell phone ringing joke on holiday). Attitude is the most important aspect a human might control. Cynicism and optimism are stark opposites and people by nature try and out smart other people's cynicism, and they objectively adore optimism, but genuine optimism truly does represent a prospect which likely truly will be beneficial. Arnault's son was wearing a very nice suit. It's a style more men ought fashion. For me, it's al fresco business casual, but I'm expecting to sell multiple million dollar masterworks at the event. Julia Roberts is a great actress, I could never imagine her getting frustrated like that in a store or social situation. It's great, American women are working women and they have a directory. Developing studios and galleries and working with artists to help them market and sell their art is great opportunity to earn very good money and maintain a culture of high sophistication. I'm skeptical that the best talent for producing art is castical, but taking a great interest in the aspects mastered by the masters of old, and developing the people with the best talent for producing art, and making suggestions what subject matter the artist paint, can lead to great production of very valuable appreciating assets and its a great industry for women of old money families because people will value their taste in art when buying.

They vet and hire them through family attorneys whom have private investigators in the law firm whom do extensive background checks. They investigate the potential employee going all the way back to their childhood, education, family, friends, hobbies, vices, civil & criminal record, etc. . .It's very thorough. The same goes for personal protection specialists that they hire. Family attorneys did the vetting, investigation and hiring. The old money billionaire family I'm familiar with also required the nannies to become certified shodan in Judo, have a university masters degree as well as become certified in tactical firearms training, in order to be able to protect the children and themselves if a threat were to get past personal protection specialists (bodyguards). Even the family chauffeur was required to attain a shodan in Judo. Every employee of that family had to be capable of defending themselves because ransom kidnapping is a real threat to all family members and employees. They were very good, extremely hard working, people the old money billionaire family I speak of. Nothing like the new money politicians and celebrities.

Old Money isn't about money, but values. One cannot buy values, and those principles have a expectation of outcome that exceed the coarse desires craved by those who have no higher calling. That expectation is everlasting, beyond the generation and the short term results that fluctuate with Fortune's nimiety. One would do well to examine individuals who have no higher purpose, who speak words that attempt to distract from their actions, but do nothing but advance their own petty existence. One must have the morals to eschew profligacy.

In the USA you can't get more old money than the Astors, the Livingstons, the Roosevelts, the Schmerhorns and some of the old southern families. Most of their ancestors arrived in the 1600's. Many are descended from people who fought in the 7-Years (French and Indian) War and the American Revolution. The Vanderbilts weren't stinking rich until the 1800's. Some families in France served in the crusades,have been living in the same castle for 800 years and served all Kings up to the révolution and even owned karge part of the Usa from 1600 to 1776.

I would argue that Prince Harry is nothing like his Grand Uncle. Like his mother, the late, great Diana Spencer, Harry has already cemented his legacy, via Sentebale, The Invictus Games, Travalyst etc. A tiny bit of support would have seen he and his family still firmly ensconced within the RF. Not to worry though, Prince Harry is a true Spencer and you don't get more "Old Money" than that.

People condemn Prince Harry for his break with tradition, but after reading his book and hearing his side of the story, I totally understand what he's going through. I grew up in a developing country, a former British colony and I am old enough to remember a time when we were schooled in the older British tradition. That culture had a lot of good; we were taught good manners and etiquette, how to be refined and 'proper' young ladies, but it also had a lot of problems. The small town I grew up in was steeped in EXTREME class prejudice. The British 'stiff upper lip' and 'keep calm and carry on' culture made my family hide a lot of terrible dysfunction that still affects us today. Some traditions NEED TO GO. I agree with Harry, sometimes things need to be ventilated. The royal family is hilariously outdated and out of touch. In a time of economic crisis they beat their 'subjects' over the head with their ridiculous gilded horse carriages and over-the-top pomp and ceremony. People may want to think of that as tradition and heritage, but sometimes tradition need to be updated to reflect current realities.

@wintermatherne2524 11 месяцев назад
If it’s updated, it’s not tradition🤣. All humans suffer to one degree or another but I believe the Brits are right to espouse solving your own personal problems and enduring in quiet dignity.

@@wintermatherne2524 He's trying to tackle a systemic problem. I didn't want to bring it up, but racism is in the mix too as we can see from the treatment of his wife. The Brits were able to maintain slavery for hundreds of years because of this mentality of hiding behind tradition and not wanting to rock the boat. If some people didn't challenge the status quo and push back, institutional slavery would probably still exist today. 'Quiet dignity' as a concept can be easily weaponized to help entrench traditions that can ultimately be harmful.

@@feonasmith9226I knew very early on before he even met Megan, he was going to go against the status quo. The way his mother was treated and the means by which she lost her life really impacted him. I knew who ever he married he would fiercely defend and protect and try as much as possible to give his children a sense of normalcy like his mother did for him and his brother. It’s just sad and frustrating that his family, and all the other critics cannot see the obvious and they don’t see it as a nobel attribute. It’s his job as a husband to do exactly what he has done. He’d be a lousy husband if he hadn’t.
@feonasmith9226
@feonasmith9226 11 месяцев назад
@@kayw1771 Agreed. This is the problem I have with old money culture. They tend to have dysfunctional families and they think that's normal. If I was forced to choose between upholding tradition to the letter or tending to my family, for me, family always come first. On one episode of the The Crown, the queen was told by her mother that "the crown must always come first". In other words, the institution must always get priority over everything else. We saw the result in her dysfunctional family. A mess for generations. How do you think Prince Harry's kids are going to feel about the royal family when they grow up? That should be interesting to watch. I'm all for learning about what they do that works, but I'm aware that there is a price for the privileges they enjoy. Some families are so powerful, sometimes society pays the price. It is, without doubt, a heavy responsibility.

How dare you refer to Harry in such away. Harry is a far better person than his father and brother put together he has higher morals proven today by the High Court Judge on his ruling of the Harry v Daily Mirror putting his father and brother in discussion as Charles did all that he could to stop Harry going ahead with his accusations against other Brit. Media too. Harry went ahead with his case on MORAL grounds not for the damages. The judge today has accused two journalists of lying to the court when giving evidence, the only righteous and honest member out of the three is Harry, his father and brother should step down straight away. We don’t need a Monarchy especially an immoral one.
