Test drove one on Saturday, after lengthy research. It was superb, we have gone for the Iconic grey and black roof. Cannot wait to get it. Amazing car and spec for the money. Great review, ive watched it a few times and it certainly helped our decision in finding the right car for us. Subscribed.
I’ve had Teslas for 6 years, my first was an S bought new. Amazingly Renault have made the first true Tesla competitor here, and you can lease one of these for half the price Model Y long range and it does more miles.
A great review, really well presented and very informative, we learned stuff even though we already have our Scenic V! The best safety feature is the ability of the car to read the speed signs and adjust the set cruising speed automatically to what the sign says, so clever! Love this car, definitely a long term resident on our driveway
I have ordered the diamond black renault e sprite scenic , its the 1st time I am getting an EV. Can't wait till it comes. Thanks you very much for the info.
Wow, wow, wow ! You sir, are a star. This is without a shred of doubt, the very best new car presentation I HAVE EVER SEEN ! Facts, information, clever humour, it's got the lot and your presentation style is a masterclass in "this is how it should be done" with your clarity, pace and enthusiasm. Renault are definitely on a high under the new boss and you sir, are leading the charge. Very well done. PS. The Google software looks amazing. Personalisation of safety systems, fire services info pack the list just goes on and on. For the very first time I see a new EV European manufacturer 'taking the fight' to Tesla and kicking the doors in.
Great in depth review. Iv got a Shadow grey matte Espirit Alpine arriving in a few weeks can’t wait. Timed in order to get the new 74 plate September 1st
Out of all American and European makers, seems the french actually understand what everyone needs out of EVs. Something practical and relatively affordable with a bit of pizzazz.
I agree with you if you mean Renault.... Not so sure about Peugeot/Citroen though - their EVs seem expensive for the range and the charge speed offered.
I thought you where about to talk trash about actually having physical buttons for the climate control, I was just about to get mad and then you said that it was brilliant, i completely agree nothing worse then have to deal with a touch screen to change the climate controls while you are driving, the bottons are just a must in my opinion. Good informative video thank you.
Had a mark 1 version in 1999, in green. Fantastic car for the time, the configurable seats were a real novelty then. Brilliant family car. This new version isn’t anything like a Scenic really, much more conventional SUV-like which is a shame, but I’m sure it’s still a very nice car. Looking at changing my company car next year and will certainly consider one.
Auto-tilt mirrors when reversing. Now that's clever! great review, mate. Enjoyed all of it, and impressed with Renault in their design language evolution. They do really well! Half way through so still waiting for the range and charge speeds, hope thats any good a well!
@@thedreamfactory6964 really?! Self tilting? I now feel very out of touch with the general car evolution and here I was thinking I was up to speed! ;-)
@@jwvandegronden What you call ‘review’ is salestalk. I watched this video because I was looking for the answer on ‘How on earth…..’ If the audience is happy with tilting review mirrors, yes, that might answer the question on ‘How on earth…’.
Very good review👍 As a 2024 kona EV owner the one thing i dont like is the regen paddles moving with the wheel. When iam in the mood to actually drive using the regen (loff up a gill, motorway, lots coming to a roundabout, T junctions, meduim to off going down a hill. Its bloody frustrating having the + and - paddles moving with the wheel. Fix them to the column, so they are always were you left them.
Other than the italians (who have to fit massive paddles as a result) everyone else from road car brands to supercars and race cars have the paddles on the wheel so you don't have to remove your hands from the wheel to grab a gear or in this case regen.
The button for easily setting assistants is probably the one feature that will make this my next car. Absolutely HATE how it works on my leased 2024 ID.4.
@@smcmotorgroupthe motoring press was impressed by all these stupid assists in the first place. Now everyone wants them OFF by default. Never base your opinion on a group of morons. Most people just repeat what other morons said.
Purchased pug e2008 2mths ago having a few issues and cramped compared t roc had before so swapping it for scenic hopefully in about 2weeks all round a better car
Yes no surprises there given the e2008 is a B segment car compared to the C segment T-Roc. At least the Scenic you're back in the C segment and one of the roomiest ones at that.
Looking at getting g a scenic but just waiting to see what the new 5 is like first , but with the way prices are going on these I think they will be at least 10k cheaper for a 24 plate as the ones I’ve looked at are already 4K cheaper
Excellent review, I really love the design, I own a 2024 Kona Electric and this would be my next electric car. Love the fact that it has an 83 kWh battery and I am pretty sure it can easily do 500km with a single charge. If you treat your gas pedal gently certainly 600+
Did we all notice the screens shaking around 19:00. Not withstanding that I am very tempted. Might have to be special to get me out of my XC90 T8 though.
Most top mounted screens do. The XC90 T8 is a very impressive car. Before joining SMC I was a product specialist for Volvo so I know the car well but if you come in I'll be happy to show you round the Scenic!
Carwow is a multimillion multinational operation with a budget to match and 9 million subscribers. We're a small family run car dealer group with just shy of 10,000 subscribers and filmed it all on a mobile phone. But if you share it around we will certainly climb up the rankings
and below its skin its basically a nissan ariya, its a shame the 4x4 version isn't available i think nissan can learn from renaults version i prefer its handling in the uk and needs a bit more of a tune for uk roads on the ariya, i was impressed with my breif test ride, on an open day at the local dealer , i may look into it when my lease ends on the octavia sport,
Before going electric (e-niro), we had scenics for 20+ years. We loved them because you got a comfy car, but you could also easily remove the rear seats and use it as a van.. I suppose that with things like USB ports in the rear seats the scenic has lost this fantastic feature.
Thank you very much for the video, one of the most detailed reviews I have seen on youtubue. Question; how would you compare this car to a Tesla model y, which one would be a better choice?
Well the Scenic is smaller and yet offers more space, better infotainment courtsey of Google, goes further on a charge and its considerably cheaper. But don't take my word for it. Whatcar? agreed. www.renault.co.uk/renault-news/scenic-beats-tesla.html
I can add to this: the Y is more efficient, bigger range in LR version, safest car ever tested by Euro ncap, is faster, better standard equipment, benefits of the fantastic, cheap Supercharger network, gets very regular software updates, is cheaper when comparing same equipped versions, ..... Shall i go on? 😅
No the range of the LR is 331. The Scenic is 380... Both cars have 5 star euro ncap ratings but outside of that test Renault offers more such as the rescue sheet. What better standard equipment do you get over the Scenic? Baring in mind its £12,000 more money and even £7,500 more that a top of the range Iconic. It gets regular software updates thanks to Google and can also use the Supercharger network as well as access to charge pass..... Shall I go on?
You could always use the ones in front of the rear passengers too. The two in the armrest are to make plugging in devices neater when being mounted in the stand.
I ordered my scenic 6 weeks ago and Renault have not given any update as to when I could expect it. Honestly thinking of cancelling the order and going for the Ford EV Explorer.
@@smcmotorgroup it was another dealership. I cancelled the order on Friday afternoon. Hearing the news that they had not officially confirmed the order just disappointed me.
Hmmm, cables underneath the 540litres of storage in the boot. Not very clever then. Did you mention the price? Dealbreaker for me not having one pedal driving though ☹️
I drove one, I might be missing something not being experienced with EVs but on full regency mode braking is strong on throttle lift and feels like it can be driven on one pedal
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but... In order to use Google Maps, and many other elements of the Infotainment system, you clearly need to access the internet. Does this therefore require you to buy a (e)Sim card for the car with a finite amount of data? And if so, will the car report how much of your data allowance is left at any given time?
Yea you need your own SIM, they don't tell you that 🤔☹️, And it costs over £100 pounds a month that's £25 pounds a week, I was horrified when my first bill came in and I was only using the Google nav system, Ive kept the car 👍 but I connect my phone to the car now as you only pay your phone bill like you would each month with a unlimited data tariff 👍😉.. and charging at public charger's it's more expensive than driving a petrol or diesel car.... comparing mileage and amount spent, so get a granny charger for your home, plug it in say from 8in the evening until 8in the morning and you should have at leased from nil to 80% in your battery and it's cheap rate over night.
The official word from Renault UK is that you get 3GB of data free which lasts for 6 months. After that they reccomend tethering your phone and use your phones data plan. However you can purchase a data plan through the My Renault App. Plans start at £5.99 a month for a 2GB a month.
@@smcmotorgroup Thanks. Do I have the option of purchasing a data-only SIM card to be placed in a spare slot in the car? (I’ve used that approach in the past with a VW Group car.)
I personally think Renault is doing amazing, and I also like the design of this car. But I honestly don't think it does its name justice. Scenic to me was always that more rounded car with biiig windows on every side letting as much light as possible. This however looks a regular small SUV. I honestly can't differentiate between all the newer renault cars anymore, this looks like the megane to me. Most new cars have that very similar aesthetic (Mokka, Scenic, Megane, Peugeot 2008, Cupra Formentor, VW T-Roc etc.). They all look the same to me. I like the designs but I feel like I'm gonna get bored of it soon.
so the towing limit is 1100kg 'with driver only'..... My caravan max weight is 1050 so i cannot even put any luggage or even a small child / 50kg / 7.8 stone without exceeding the towing limit. This is crazy. I've been caravanning for decades and whenever (every 3-4 years) i've got next car i've always checked the next car's towing limit (braked) and NEVER EVER been given anything other than 'towing limit is xxxx kg. I understand that towing limit is always on v5 document - and doesn't reference 'driver only',,,,, so can anyone please clarify this. Renault tell me 'all other manufacturers state same',,,,, well they don't!! This looks to be a great car and towing limit is just right, but i'd prefer not to go on holiday on my own ..... although.......... :-)
@@smcmotorgroup they say all manufacturers do it this way. NO THEY DON'T. I've checked with several other manufacturers and all say car (whether 'driver only' or fullly loaded) has same towing limit. Caravan Club tech dept feel they're putting a 'high' number to put against competitors but in reality it looks to me to be 'flexible with the truth'.... Bye bye renault

I think I know how this EV won car of the year, is this the model that has a hole in the bodywork for a fire engine to insert a hose in case it goes in fire? Very assuring.
none of these cars will be on the road after warranty expires.Just look at the way the screen vibrates on the road (20:50). This is going to fall apart in front of your eyes. It goes back and forth 1cm.. just imagine it on gravel ... It would not survive 500 meters. new screen is about 3-4000 €. Renault should be banned from making cars and this comes from megane 2023 owner.
Weybridge to Blackpool is 245 miles and you talk like this is great? For an 87 kwh battery that is pretty poor. My Hyundai Kona EV 64kwh will easily achieve 300miles even on the motorway. The WLTP figures for this car are extremely debatable given its weight and size of wheels.
Ok but will you be able to go 300 miles with out a break and still be able to drive safely? I couldn't so if I'm stopping anyway whats the use of those extra 55 miles?
Too many panel bits add ons creases and joints, cleaning nightmare! And no, don't do a Kia, we don't need annoying 'welcome sounds' and bings and bongs everywhere 😂 Good to see the navigation has caught up with Tesla to sort out the charging stops and pre-consitioning, who have been doing it for years
You seem like a bland boring dud looking for a car to match you. I love the welcome sound and the artistic exterior designs. You better off finding your next car at your local junkyard.
Too expensive, underpowered, FWD and the interior is nothing worth mentioning. Had a test drive of the Cupra Tavascan, and its better in basically every way compared to the Scenic.
Well spec for spec the Scenic is cheaper (the Scenic range goes even lower if you wanted a smaller battery). 220hp for a family car is plenty. Were talking 66hp difference, not exactly night and day. FWD again family car, safety is more important to customers for the Scenic rather than driving dynamics. This is obviously different for CUPRA customers. Interior? Apart from the Google infotainment which has been regarded as the class leader, the solarbay roof than no one else has this side of £100k, ingenious armrest and the class leading space inside that helped win it Car of the Year for 2024? Its a good thing were getting the Tavascan later in the year to be able to offer choice against two products focused at very different markets.
