Would be nice if they didn't have to strike but I'm 100% in favor of it of the executives refuse to budge. I'm so sick of American media always framing everything as "Oh those poor executives who make 150 times as much as their employees and get millions more in bonus just can't afford to pay their employees fairly". UPS is large enough to draw attention to the fact that workers in America have almost no power unless they flip the table over on a colossal scale.

I work at UPS' worldport facility and a few things you might wanna think about. 1 the semis have their own fuel station on site to use as well as other amenities. 2 with your airport also in CC you may want to think about adding a UPS plane in just for the detail due to Superior being its own state. Lastly like everyone else said your feeder trailers are facing the wrong direction.

I think the area around where the bridge from the distribution center connects into Belmont could use a bit more detailing. Maybe some of the single family residential on the blocks under the bridge could re-zone to commercial or maybe even a park of some sort. The row of homes along the tracks (if they remain) should definitely be fenced in as well. As always, another great episode and I can't wait to see all the new development around the area!

Hi Phil, One thing missing from this location is storage for trailers. I work in a distribution center that is half a mile long, and one thing that is critical is being able to store plenty of empty trailers in our yard that can be used to set up at the loading docks. Perhaps you can add prop trailers to all that empty space around the corners of the parking lot. Additionally, there should be a security fence around the entire premises as there are multi-million dollars worth of products up for grabs at any given time. The fence should also separate the staff parking from the trailers as it is both a security, and safety concern to have people park in a very busy and active trailer yard. Thanks for the CWC upload!

A few notes to mention from a FedEx employee. You did a really good job of building this distribution center, it looks pretty realistic for the limits of the game and its obvious you have done some good research to try and make it accurate. 1. Something to consider is that this is also a short term storage complex, so you will often find a large amount of trailers just being stored in open parking lots, might be good to add on to the parking lots, or even create a separate parking lot close to it for storage. The location I am at has a pretty sizable fenced lot across the road for that purpose. the regular stations are huge, but the hubs are ginormous, and the parking area required can really reflect that. 2. even if it is small, these locations often have a customer facing part of the building (the main office section in this build) that has public access for customer pickups, employee interviews, and other related matters. If possible, it would be good to relocate that to an area that would allow for public access. Ive seen it even as a detached segment from the main building with its own parking area. Not the end of the world though, especially because of the effort you've put into it so far. 3. Distribution companies love fences like they grow on trees. I'm sure its in part due to regulations required both by the company and the government. One thing that would be very important is a division between employee/customer parking and access to the yard area where the semi trucks go. Access to any packages would need to be heavily restricted and it would be a huge concern to have your average joe driving or walking through the yard and attempting to get into one of the trailers or getting hit by a truck. Overall I really enjoyed this build!! That retention wall is something you would totally see in real life. My old location was on a hill and had a retention wall next to the highway that was probably at least 40-50ft high.
@Corduroy-Pillows

I feel like you would probably see a guard rail go up along the road beside the retaining wall next to the river. I could imagine that being a dangerous turn at night.

I've used the very same Avanya assets and loved them. The trucks need to be able to drop and pick up - this means that they have to get close. Options: * Spawn Point tool * Allow only trucks to go through the innermost lanes (it will look bad) * Cheat - run industry one-way roads within the warehouses (the assets allow it). This will allow building-to-building to flow more realistically; include the rail yard in the "cheat." A continuous building at this scale has automation, conveyer, rider trucks, etc. The goods are rarely going onto a trailer to move down a quarter mile. They're driven inside by forklifts, and similar. * To take the cheat further, connect the inner roads to the parking lot road at points that look sensible. This way, at least, as a truck leaves, it looks right. I use the 58m parking lot road and use it to force specific circulation and it avoids unrealistic truck traffic. I also add a guard/security shack, ideally with a gate.

My brother in law retired from UPS. Was the mechanic in Findlay Ohio for forever. He got so many awards for keeping their trucks on the road they had to build shelving along the walls of the stairwell up to the main office for all his plaques. He said, I'm not taking these home. I have no room. When he retired, he brought his tools and chest home. All of that cost over 80k. For tools and a huge tool chest. Man is a mechanic legend.

As someone who works for a Distribution Center I can FINALLY weigh in on something. As others said, you placed all the trailers backwards against the dock doors so not only can the workers not access them but trucks can't hook up either. Also something to keep in mind if you make another Warehouse, that a lot of them have all the loading docks fenced off from the "front" of the building, where all the workers and visitors park. That area with the loading docks is called the Truck Yard and is restricted cause it's a security risk when workers have the docks open and someone can just walk up and access the building that way. Last, that's a lot of parking even for a Warehouse, though I work for a Retail chain, I dunno how many people a shipping giant like UPS would employ.

Just a few points. Water flows downhill. The retention pond would likely be on the opposite side in area between the road and the retention wall. This will also keep them from having to run pipes and sewer under the railroad. The area where the pond is now would be a good spot for the trailer drop yard and fleet maintenance shop. And has been pointed out already by a couple others, but I still have to say it....*You're trailers are backwards!!!* the back area between the parking lot and the bridge would probably have a few trees to block noise and light. Where the homes are along the tracks...yea, those need to go. Line some tress and bushes..and maybe a dirt access road along the line for rail maintenance. You can aslo add some detail in the middle of the wye. some rail stuff from Ronyx and others and couple maintence trucks and mobile shed for a rail maintenance area. a dirt access road to one running parallel to the mainline as I suggested previously. To be honest, they liley wouldn't put one there, but for the sake of detail it would work well for the spot anyway,. The road going over the bridge into town I would either restrict truck traffic, or turn that road into town into more of main drag rather then all that traffic running through the middle of a solid residential area. maybe a mini commercial area or something. Not quite downtown kinda scene, but maybe some fast food, gas station, car repair, small industrial shop (thers's some prop industrial small shop buildings that wont pollute...wont function either but they wont pollute and would give it an old town "this used to be our industrial area before McDonald's and Barnes & Nobles bought it all up" look). Both King Leon and Spence! have a couple of old style strip malls that would also fit in nice along that road. Beyond that, making the area "south" of the plant into farmland would help give it the effect that they build the warehouse out on edge of town. It's fairly common in rural Midwest when a small/medium -ish sized town gets a rather sizable plant, they put it way on the edge of town, in the middle of farmlands

hi when you changed the rail piece in the distribution center from electryfied track to unelectryfied one i realized that all of clearwater county's rail runs on diesel (or i just didn't noticed any electric tracks) , and i think this is something that should be changed. i know that usa overall has a skill issue dealing wih rail and there is not much tracks electrified (less than 1%) but the voices saying that usa should electrify its tracks are becoming increasingly louder and i think that in clearwater county these voices also would be hearable. electrification of rail comes with great benefits, electric trains are more effective, has better acceleration, they also reduce noise and vibration pollution (something that Belmont would greatly benefit from, especially these houses along the railroad) and can be powered from renewable sources of energy, that means less fossil fuels are burned. probably i missed something and it may actually not be a great idea but i think that clearwater should electrify at least some of its railroads. let me know if im wrong

Hi, I have some suggestions regarding the distribution center! You could add some kind of gas station for the trucks, maybe with a small Cafe and/or some vending machines for the workers. The vending machines could also be near the parking lot (by the doors maybe? with some plastic chairs for the workers to eat a snack on brakes??), where you could add bike parking. Edit: and some trash cans in the parking lot for smoking breaks!

Use empty space around the distribution center for extra trailers or box trucks(try using the UPS Heavy Truck Prop from the workshop) Since UPS has decided to move in, I would recommend a terminal for UPS Airlines(a air cargo subsidiary of UPS) at Clearwater County's airport to use air as a means of transport cargo to and from the County since air is a fast and easy method of transportation.

First of all thank you for removing the light posts in the middle of the dock doors. As a truck driver it drove me nuts just thinking about the inevitable madness of being told to back up to the dock with a light pole right in front of it. Yes I've been to a few places like that. What baffles me most is that no one from planning to construction seems to have noticed, nor does the shipping/receiving personnel care. But one other major thing I noticed is your trailer props need to be turned 180°. While it's not impossible to place a trailer like that it's very impractical to unload. Usually when you see something like that it was done by a disgruntled yard hustler that quit right afterwards. Also you should add a sizable trailer drop lot. Don't think I've ever seen a ups without one

UPS has very specific brand placement requirements on their buildings. Large, lighted logo signs are ALWAYS only at the corners of the buildings and as high as possible on the wall. Guidance signage on roads are small brown/white/gold signs with the logo in the top left. Also, all trucks are required to back into parking spaces.

Great video. Good idea on the curved corners. Two comments... the trailer props are facing the wrong direction and I think the employee parking between the bridge entrance and the corner bend would be a difficult turn for the tractor trailers to he able to make that turning radius if there were cars parked on the last spots of the middle rows. I would suggest either no parking in that section or just a single row? Those are two turns pretty close to each other and the trucks are going to need some radius to allow the trailer to travel behind

Loving this series so far! I do have a couple of suggestions, though. The fencing should probably encompass the rail area, since it would be common for railcars to be delivered at night and left there until unloaded and picked up by another train. Also (and I don't know if this is possible) it would make sense for all the trains that serve the distro center to have either boxcars or intermodal containers.

The scale of those buildings are crazy! One thing, you should think about putting some UPS signs next to the roads for trucks and employees to see.

Hey CPP great episode as always ! one suggestion though, turn the trailers around. This way it looks like the trucks can back in and pick them up.

I really like this build. But I do have a couple of questions. Wouldn’t the town be very upset that a on-ramp or viaduct was built in a quiet neighborhood? Wouldn’t they be very upset to see commercial trucks and commercial box trucks go in and out of their small neighborhood? Also, Wouldn’t you not be any houses that close to the train tracks? What would be better if it was just use as open space or pack it with dense vegetation to be a buffer for sound for the trains? I know if I was living in the house I would not wanna live there because the land I will be very bad and also having to deal with the train traffic noise.

Maybe use intersection marking tool on the corners, reduce the empty space.

Hey man. Love the series and the channel. Just wanted to add that maybe the dock where the train loads should have some lights too for those workers on night shift.

Love the build! For those corners where you weren't sure what to do, I would set up a dumpster depot. I've seen that at some places where parking didn't quite fit. Maybe it wouldn't work, but all I can think of.

One thing, how are your tractors going to hook up to the trailers? They all look to be backwards around the building. I would also say for authenticity, you should put a bench or 2 on the far corner of the building near the railway on the parking lot side of the fence. There would absolutely be a smoke pit far away from the entrances.
