Such a great vid. The story, stores, you don't see that kind of passion everyday. If I ever make it out there, I definitely will have to visit.

My mom took me to Bradlees to buy a game for my birthday. I picked Beavis and Butthead for the Genesis. The store clerk tried to convince my mom not to buy it for me. I remember my sisters and our neighbors who were our best friends coming along. The game was released in 1994, and I think it had come out recently. I would have been 10 or possibly 11 years old. I loved that game, but I was still kind of too little to totally get it. I'd always start the game from the beginning, and slowly figure things out and make it further. It also had a password feature, for saves I think? I figured out a password on my own. The characters loved a band called Gwar, and there was a poster in the game for Gwar. The password was either Gwar or had Gwar in it somehow. I forget now. It unlocked every item in the game and basically maxed everything out. It ruined the game, since the challenge was gone, but I felt so clever figuring it out. Thanks Mom

Sick, Japan has a chain of toy/figure stores called Volks that have the same idea - people renting out cabinets in the shop to sell their collections. Really cool!
@pnx_world
@pnx_world День назад
That is actually so smart! It’s a great way to keep good inventory in the place and attract traffic. Specially if the cabinets belong to people that are from different locations to. Love a good video game store tour video! Always good to get an insight on the local spots in the community.

I totally believe the oils on your fingers left on GameCube disc for long periods of time ruin them. That's exactly why GameCube games are skyrocketing because not only did it not do well for a Nintendo console but they are notorious for not working because of disc rot. I've only had bad luck with collecting GameCube but every other console that has disc I hardly ever run into any problems. They're also the most difficult to resurface which sucks.

That Dino Crisis 3 story scares me. Of my retro games, I have only ever played a small percentage. My cart games, I used to open to check. I have atleast 10 games over $100 that I've recently purchased that I've yet to look at the boards. I guarantee some discs won't run, but I'm fairly confident the cart games are all legit. I've only bought one repro on ebay over the years, and it was obvious once in hand. The good thing with disc based games that are CIB is you can either get a loose disc for cheaper to complete it, or sell the case and manual towards the new copy. That's worth it for some games that are expensive.

I like how all of these game owners and even RU-vidrs say they grew up poor and fast forward 30 years later, look at their massive collection. RU-vid must really pay a living wage. I grew up poor and played a small variety of video games and I'm still poor at age 32 that can't afford the heavy bangers thanks to RU-vidrs, scalpers and collectors hoarding video games that caused the market to sky rocket. I remember back in 2012 most NES games were like $10 and now they're expensive as hell with all these RU-vidrs who choose that as a career
@JRPGLife
@JRPGLife 4 часа назад
I get it, but video games aren't the only market that gets more valuable as demand goes up. RU-vid or not, supply and demand changes the value of items. As for youtube income, there are definitely a few out there who make bank off youtube, but the amount of people who can actually do it for a living is a very small percent. Elisa and I still work full-time jobs, and that's the only feasible way we can even hope to buy expensive video games as time progresses. Budgeting is key! 😊

Woe is me. This dude went to college and earned a business degree. Maybe you could try getting a job because crying on RU-vid isn't going to pay much.

@@felix-ve8jk I got a good paying job buddy boy but with inflation and price gouging, it's a tough economy and it doesn't matter if you go to college, you're not promised a job even with a master's degree.
@felix-ve8jk
@felix-ve8jk 2 часа назад
@@daviddonnell2153 It doesn't sound like you do because you said "I'm still poor at age 32". You're sitting here blaming "RU-vidrs, scalpers and collectors hoarding video games that caused the market to sky rocket." You are not entitled to cheap games. Guess you should have bought more in 2012! Inflation is real but crying about collectible video games is silly. There are plenty of other channels that will be glad to coddle your whiney comments, though.
