$23000 isn't small. How much do you have in yours
@IllinoisTrafficAttorney
@IllinoisTrafficAttorney 5 лет назад
@@ihama99 It's important to parse out what that means. For instance, my family has many state workers and those deductions are often automated. Truth be told, she is spending a lot of money she really shouldn't be. Spending $2,000 per month (after expenses discretionary income minus savings deposit) is a lot. It sounds like she doesn't have any debt so she is good on that front. That is spending $67/day. Her current housing situation is temporary so her expenses are set to increase (the family friend said the stay would be temporary). She should be socking away much more with that very low rent IMHO in anticipation for her eventual move.

it depends on how you would define millionaire. there some persons worth 1M+ both have a relatively fixed income. So there spending habits are pretty predictable not ISNANE. On the flip side for high-income earners that make 1M/yr depending on their debt to income ratio ... they spend on WHATEVER they legit want. Most of the lavish spending habits are often within very niche specific things. Like someone who is CAR nerd or who is a hype beast will spending ALOT more of their income in those specific areas. Also depending on the size of the household ... allowances are often a monthly expenses to several persons , children, brothers/sisters etc.

I like her. She spends too much on food though. Definitely doesn't need to pay for that budget planner either.

I just noticed that these are "ATM and debit card transactions"? If you are disciplined, I would recommend getting a credit card for those reward points back.

Apologies if I missed the point, why do you purchase trip insurance on your flight? Is this a sound financial decision? How frequently does it get used/how frequently does it actually pay back the money spent?
@traciej.taylor2001

I buy insurance on every trip. I have had to use it twice. In a freak accident, I ruptured my Achilles’ tendon on a Saturday and was supposed to be getting on a flight Monday to leave on a cruise on Tuesday. I got all of my money back except the $69 cost for insurance. Then, last month we had flights to Miami for a few days around Valentine’s day. Something came up and we had to cancel. Because I had insurance, I have a credit with the airline for all but the $29 cost of insurance.

Wow she has a lot of savings with that salary and she pays very cheap for rent. Teaching is a rewarding career but the salary sucks and the rents in nyc is high, so the salaries can’t match to it what’s gunna happened when that house gets sold she will end paying at least 1200 for a studio plus utilities if it doesn’t come with that.

People saying her budget is sensible surely don't live in the real world. The old budgetary rule of thumb is the 20/50/30 rule meaning 20% savings minimum, 50 essentials maximum and 30% discretionary spending maximum. Her ration is more like 8% savings, 29% utilities and 63% discretionary spending, she's spending more than double what she should be! People see 23k savings and think wow but the majority of that is in a retirement fund she can't access. Only 2k in actual savings is nothing, I mean if she were to move out for whatever reason $2k wouldn't even cover the bond and 1st month rent that you normally have to pay up front. At her current rate of saving it'd take her at least another 5 years to even afford an average 2nd hand car let alone registration and insurance.

I think people are confusing her savings and think she has $23,000 in savings when really she only has $2,000. The rest is in a retirement account she cant touch. Her only liquid assets are the 2k. At the savings rate she's going, she wont even have enough to put down first months rent and security when she has to move.

@@thisyearsgrl88 She's young, she has a decent amount saved so far. I'm thinking maybe she can go to dinner, and get her nails done and be happy now and still save like she has been doing. But, then again I am not a financial advisor, and I sure should be saving alot more than I do lol

@@tracilewin4659 if you think having saved 23k is good at her age, you are extremely wrong. It is not a good enough to rate to retire with a comfortable amount or at least a secure amount. She's gonna be screwed. All that Old Navy is gonna cost her thousands in the long run. Best of luck living a good old life .
