Hey fellas, I'm currently at the Halo World Championships and I'm going to be live streaming me at the event later on my Twitter! Follow me on Twitter.com/HiddenXperia and you'll see some very cool stuff 😉
Yet ONI seems to have taken serious offense to someone taking proactive measures against the Flood, @@adolfgaming1761. Figures as much! I guess ONI would be alot happier with over half of the Earth becoming a Flood Plain seeing how stupidly evil they have been.
@@adamgray1753 You are right about that. Somebody should just kill every single member of ONI for all the terrible things they've done and, of course, for how stupid they all are. Master Chief should be the one to do it, since ONI, being the disgraceful, cowardly worms they are, lied about Chief assassinating the president, when in fact he was killed by the Covenant and Chief was protecting him.
lol. the flood come down, and decide to give mercy to them until monday. so you have a bunch of flood forms eating pizza and partying with humans, and then the second it strikes midnight and transitions to monday morning they immediately begin slaughtering.
“During the events that took place in Voi, allied Sanghelli cruisers fighting alongside UNSC vessels against the Covenant invaders misinterpreted a transmission from allied ground units and had then glassed a sizable portion of the continent. In response to this incident, the Sanghelli Shipmaster replied ‘We had received an encoded transmission from a marine named ‘Toto’ to ‘Bless there rains down in Africa’ and due to the nature of the battle, we had assumed that the ground forces were using some code to signal us to glass Africa.’ The Sanghelli apologized for the incident well after the invasion. ONI as well misinterpreted the transmission, citing that ‘for marines to uses coded messages must have meant that our transmissions had been compromised by the enemy’ and had then blocked all incoming and outgoing communications, both civilian and military, on the continent of Africa.” -Official Declassification of information pertaining the Glassing and Communications Silencing of Africa, Office of Naval Intelligence Public Relations Bureau
Rocco Sato you know during the forerunner - flood war the flood took over AI because they collect biomass from whatever they can infect, hence forth any living thing that’s not metallic, ETC...
I don’t think half of Africa was glassed. Admiral Hood’s statement might have been out of anger that a large part of Africa was glassed, something that he witnessed the covenant do on multiple planets. Just a thought
It was hyperbole. I have no clue why people take it at face value. I also doubt 100,000's were infected. New Mombasa and the combat zone was stated in canon sources (And we see in game) to have been evacuated.

Fuzzy Dunlop Why do you two think it’s hyperbole? What evidence do you have and why does it matter what percentage was glassed?
ThePeaceweapon because a chunk of Africa vs half of Africa is quite a size able difference. I mean I know it doesn’t matter too much in the lasting future because apparently the UNSC can just crack the class and make that section livable but still.
I am honestly surprised that the public doesn't know about the flood, especially with the amount of marines who fought them throughout the war, although oni could maybe pass that off as PTSD
true marines fought them in delta halo's quarantine zone, the ark, voi. Im pretty sure oni probably threatens them to keep them quiet about the situation.
What about the entirety of the former Covenant? Since the end of the conflict some human populations have begun limited co-existence with Kig Yar and Sanghelli, and the entire covenant military was aware of the flood. Hard to believe that Oni could enforce a gag order on 2 sea faring species while allowing populations to mix.
sharkflamethrower you are both right and wrong. It’s actually when hot plasma is shot in gigantic blobs onto the surface of a planet which burns a major area of the surface, leaving a hot, glassy/obsidian-like material to the stricken areas
Infinite Choices She cared more about Humans than her own race. Which is why she had problems with her husband, Ur-Didact. He was more focus on fighting for the billions of Forerunners who fell to the flood.
Brandon Lee I know i have read cryptum and a little bit of primordium and know that she protected the humans from the didact i know the entire story but ''it was the only planet she could protect.'' is just confusing. But i get it now.
There was this one guy who knew what really happened when the Flood invaded. Unfortunately he fell down the stairs in his house onto a knife. I could ask his roommates what happened but one of them got blown up in a car explosion when he was getting it charged and the other tripped and fell onto some 12.7x40mm rounds after leaving work. It's so weird all this happened. Thankfully I managed to find some papers about the subject maybe I can shed some li... *[TRANSMISSION TERMINATED]*
IronPiedmont1996 You forgot the one where the guy committed suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head twice and his heart once just to be sure he was going to die.
User: IronPiedmont1996 was found dead via suicide pills 8 months ago, A funereal was held in his hometown, His parents and loved ones have not said anything on the subject of his dead. "We are heart broken by his death and would like to let us grieve in peace." His Father said to officials on the topic of his death. -EBC News
Let's not forget, "half a continent" could have been an exaggeration on Hood's part to express his displeasure with Vadum. I'd be pretty damn mad if anyone glassed any part of my planet, even if it was for a good reason. Even the name's evidence for that; "Voi Exclusion Zone" implies the area is similar enough to Voi's general area prior to being glassed. Else it would have been called the "East African Exclusion Zone" or something. As for the "Somebody must have recorded something" bit, that does hold some merit, but ONI's reach is terrifyingly broad. Even if they didn't immediately turn the whole of Africa into a connectivity deadzone the instant that ship dropped from Slipspace, it seems well within their capabilities to completely erase any footage recorded during the outbreak, any footage of the ship going down, hell, they could probably 100% erase all reference to the people who recorded it. And if that's not enough, the Flood really do spread rather quickly. The Marines we saw were only alive (for about five seconds, at least) because they had guns, an unarmed civilian populace would be absolutely _annihilated_ by the Flood, with absolutely no resistance. It's entirely possible that all possible witnesses were either too busy trying to survive, or too busy being dead.
Also the entire internet by the time of the Covenant War was controlled by A.I.s using their control ONI could simply have the A.I.s prevent any mention of the Flood from showing up. Probably to be followed by a personal visit from ONI to remove any leaks.
THANK YOU, YES. I know whichever idiot controls the lore for this franchise seems to have made it canon - but look at a map adjusted for accurate proportions - AFRICA IS TOO BIG TO HAVE HALF OF IT GLASSED. You can fit a North America and change into Africa and still have space left over. It's a big fucking place, they didn't glass half of Africa. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO GLASS ALL OF THAT LAND.
I don’t know why, but when I was a kid I was legit scared of the flood. So after that ship landed and the chief said “worse,” I was like “ no. nonononononono. NO”
Zombies with rocket launchers? Holders of glactic long jump records? Able to hack computers? Sure sign that the difficulty is going to ratchet up? Idk the flood still scares me.
"The flood's on earth!" random UNSC soldier/Elite shipmaster. "He's delusional. Take him to the infirmary. What's the spread of the flood infection?" ONI operative Dyatlov. "Last reported was 3.6 miles..." "3.6 miles. Not great, not terrible." Dyatlov. "Sir, there are flood combat forms all over the place, and the UNSC/Covenant fleet is going to glass the city! We need to leave!" UNSC soldier. "You dind't see any combat forms. You didn't! Because it's not there! And the fleet just above us is not going to glass the city!!" Dyatlov.
I would think that Voi and most of the surrounding area would have been evacuated of civilians after the invasion of New Mombasa. Because by the time the Rookie woke up in ODST, New Mombasa was pretty much abandoned and the Covenant didn't start excavating until the next morning. So by the portal activated and the flood got there, there would be no civilians around. Also I think Hood exaggerated the extent of the SoS's glassing to show his contempt for R'tas's 'scorched earth' method of flood containment.
thatbarneyguy 657 you should know through common sense. I’d imagine most would be relocated to safer parts of Africa or another country. Some might travel to stay with family or just leave off world altogether away from the war. I’d wager quite a few people would have fled Earth even before the covenant attacked.
A single million, very funny, they glassed half a fucking continent, I don't believe half a continent only had 1 million people on it. Probably more like 2-5 billion people were killed.
true but if a single flood spore made it out (which could have happened anyway it just doesn't have access to biomass now) it could have destroyed all of earth
@@chuck1135 Considering he likely only got a glance and was fighting, and that Chief knew the Pillar of Autumn far better than Arbiter, it makes enough sense.
Donovan, well if you remember the end of halo five Cortana and a guardian exited slip space and activated a EMP (electro magnetic pulse, eliminates all power.) Just imagine, Cortana deploys thousands of knights and Blue team returns to Earth to deal with it. While fire team Osiris is deployed in space to take down Cortana’s guardian ( I know 343 said the story will focus on the Master Chief/me and I don’t like fire team Osiris by any means, but it seems wrong for 343 to say “Hey so you guys remember Buck and all them? Well don’t worry just forget about them.”
You really underestimate the power that ONI has. When that ship enter into Earth's atmosphere ONI could had blocked all comms in the area. But it would make an awesome story like how a group of ODST's could have found vids left by civilian detailing the while event as it happened in real time. Or maybe send in 2 headhunter squads to clean up any civilians that might have survived so to keep everything on the low. Whether it be live action or animation I'd live to see it.
ODST Squad Leader: “You have the *[REDACTED]* video clips?” Civilians: “We got it sir!” ONI Comms Officer: “Remember, no civilian!” ODST Squad: **Pulls out BR55 Service Rifles** ODST Squad Leader: “Good, that’s one less loose end!” **ODSTs proceed to execute civilians**
The Flood: (Lands on Earth) Shipmaster: "Glass the planet." Other Elite: "But sir, the humans will be angry." Shipmaster: "Fine. Glass most of the this... *Africa* ."
@@budwhite9591 Honestly, if I were a part of the UNSC and in on the dark secret of that incident, I wouldn't be mad either.... there are VERY few beings in Sci-Fi that terrify me more than the Flood, the X Parasites from the Metroid series being the only one I can think of off of the top of my head and I'd rather lose part of a planet for a while than the whole thing... and likely many other things in terms of loss of life.
The one thing that always bothered me about the flood coming to earth is the fact that we just destroyed a massive AA gun before it warps in. With such a large city and the fact the UNSC knew the covenant could warp with precision you’d think they would’ve had their own AA batteries, but we didn’t see anything to even remotely suggest a defense against the ship. I get that earth had the orbital defense platforms, but you’d think there would still be some form of ground based defense even if it was just geared towards shooting phantoms and banshees.
Travis R I do believe that they had AA batteries like the one in halo reach that you use to blow up the covenant cruiser But i don’t think that there were any in or near the city or the original covenant that came to earth with the prophets eliminated then with over whelming force If you read halo hunters in the dark They don’t say anything about any AA guns when the elites reactivated the portal in Africa with the help of oni because shortly after the activation a forunner ship comes through and all the humans used were Mac guns from their destroyers and other battle ships
At the point where the portal opens any ground based UNSC AA guns there would most likely have been long destroyed or disabled by Truth's forces. They wouldn't just ignore a AA cannon blasting them while digging to access the portal.
Halo follower seems to know to find out a lot but can't seem to put teh pieces together. like a video i saw he called a plot holw of how teh cief ans johnsan got back to earth...despite a book telling the tale...
HaloFollower < Cross dressing in front of everybody you know I know I would be less embarrassed to be in drag in front of everybody than watch Halofollower's Game vs Evil ;)
@5:55 "You can only imagine the crazy conspiracy theories people would come up with in the HALO universe about Voi."...…. ONIWARS: *"I DON'T LIKE 'EM PUTTIN CHEMICALS IN THE WATER THAT TURN THE FRIGGIN FLOOD GAY!"*
From what I know, the city was evacuated during halo 2, so no civilians, it was only covenant and marines, well covenant that was infected wherever the ship came from
I think, that maybe ONI cut off any communications that could reach out of the exclusion zone, and sent some spartan III headhunters to stop any civilians who tried to exit the exclusion area... By, any needs necessary.
I think that there was evidence recorded, but it would be impossible to send it out. The internet that the Halo humans use is Waypoint, which is monitored by ONI AIs.
Even if it wasn't controlled by ONI AIs, AIs control everything from city functions to star craft and Halsey made it very clear in Halo 4 that an AI can be forced to comply with an order. Guaranteed no AI in the Halo universe is without that little back door.
"glassed a half of a continent" always seemed like hyperbole to me. Maybe something like 200km radius around Voi would be feasible with time scale and available Elite controlled ships.
YES. People who actually take the "glassed half a continent" line at face value fucking failed geography. Africa is huge. If you look at a map that's adjusted to reflect accurate proportions you can see that you can easily fit North and Central America in Africa and have room to spare. They didn't glass half of Africa - AND IF THEY DID YOU COULDN'T KEEP THAT SHIT SECRET.
Fuzzy Dunlop Africa has a huge population, in-fact the majority of people under 18 in the world live in Africa, if they glass half of Africa billions would have died or been displaced
That idea you had for the short story about the conspiracy theorists, could make for a good game. Having you play from multiple different perspectives with different types of gameplay for each character during the Flood outbreak at Voi. A civilian who's trapped within this city and their segments could be similar to a survival horror game like Outlast. A marine, who is similar to an ODST, but health is more of a concern - making you have to play a little more cautiously. And maybe even a Brute or one of the Covenant who survived the UNSC's assault on the city.
wolf lord the 1st The only stupid person here is you and the bitch that didn't have you aborted when she should've. Nigga this was a joke look up and you might see it flying over your head.
I think there are Flood forms still around in Africa but they are keeping a low profile until something happens to give them an advantage, like what happened in at the end of Halo 5. With everything EMP'ed on Earth, thanks Cortana :( ,they would have no problem gaing enough biomass to make another Gravemind.
NCR Elite Riot Officer wouldn’t be so quick to say that. In halo 5 audio logs on the mission with the glassed planet. A miner was able to find an entire house and yard untouched by the glass half a mile under the surface not to far from the impact point. It is possible
Hey Hidden, I’ve been working on a Halo fan made story for almost a year now. To kinda help with the whole mystery theme to Halo. A very brief summary it is this. The Story is called Ghosts of the Glassed. It will cover some major events in the Halo universe such as the Glassing of Reach, The Battle of Earth, Fall of High Charity and the Rise of the SOS. Our main man, our main Protagonists none other then a Sangheili named El. Throughout the story you see a Sangheili perspective on the war, how they dealt with humanity’s struggle. But this isn’t for kicks and laughs, this story dives deeply into things like PTSD and Suicide. Not for those with a weak stomach. This story to meant to take a very gruesome twist to halo and will be almost completely Cannon. Of course I can’t rewrite the lore so things where there’s blanks and black ink I’ll put in my own details.
Sangheili Blademan just from what you explained, it sounds like it would be a good read 😃, I was also in the process of writing a fan based book myself, the name of it was, The Ghosts Of Halo, it was about master chief returning to a piece of the halo he destroyed. but I scraped the idea but kept the name because I'm tinking of a new idea for a book. if you think about it on the halo's were did is inhabitants go? one would suspect that since they were on the halos they wouldn't be affected by the halo's pulse, but that's my 😊. any suggestions or thought's?
Chimera’s background music is so nostalgic even though it was only a year ago. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, he used a Rainbow Six: Siege soundtrack in 4:45
Keep in mind that wasn’t just Voi that was glassed, it was “half a continent” as Hood put it. So we’re not talking about a few million deaths here, it could easily be tens to hundreds of millions of deaths. Maybe be even a billion, given how populated Africa is today, and what the population could be in 2552.
HiddenXperia thanks man! I take occasional brakes here and there that's how I get to watch you're vids. Guess I was lucky that your vid released during my break :D
Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if ONI cut off communication the likley had the same conclusion as you did. Granted this game came out in 2007, so they likley didn't think about this but in modern terms something like the AWS outage in the states could work to take out any communications without interfering with any military operations
Yeah right, nobody would pull out their phone and start recording as their friend is screaming in pain while being eaten by extraterrestrial popcorn. edit: nevermind, that's now the first thing people will do now.
Great vid bro, also make a separate video on master builder Faber's life cos he deserves his own video(btw lord hood is hyperbolic speaker so u shouldn't take seriously when he says"you just glassed half the continent")
Dire Firefly shipmaster wasn't lying about 1 spore for entire species and the flood had a great starting point in the middle of a populated city after a major battle.they could easily spread that quickly with all that biomass and also precautionary measure dictate since they came in flying there couldve been flood bits in low atmosphere and couldve ended up anywhere so glassing half the continent makes sense
This particular section of the game would make an amazing timespan for a flood survival horror game, where you play as a civilian during the flood outbreak.
The creepiest thing about oni is that organizations like it already exists or will exist in the future and we would never know because they would cover it up
The leak from the city was probably taken down by Oni and those who try to piece those leaks together would be labeled as conspiracy theorists. Fuk I want a halo game that revolves around playing as a rebel leader and promoting anarchy against Oni already!!!
The books go into decent detail about separatist movements, i believe this aspect of the halo universe needs to be explored in game. A ODST game dealing with convanet and separatists at the same ti.e wpuld be awesome.
Floodgate is awesome. I always hoped Bungie or 343 or anybody really would create a halo game or project focusing specifically on the flood and you play as a marine. That would be badass in my opinion. If an infection form grabs a hold of you, you could see your character become transformed into a combat form. Hell, there could be an entire campaign just focusing on voi and different perspectives on what happened. ODST but with flood.
I love how about 7 minutes in Hidden used the main theme for Operation Chimera which, for those of you who don't play Rainbow Six Siege, was a period when Ubisoft released a free DLC pertaining about a special disease similar to the flood. Props to Hidden for attention to even the most minute detail
@@mcbuttheadmcf8650 How about something a bit more balanced *Covenant vs Combine* Galaxy conquers vs DIMENSION CONQUERS Covenant took Reach in a month, but combine took Earth in hours!
Honestly I just want a continuation of The Hunt the Truth , with this and other stuff floating around in the 'Slush' more then halo 6 , cus honestly i found it realllyyyy well done, and the characters they introduced were pretty great and fleshed out , but they kinda vanish post Hunt the truth :/
I think part of why Voi hasn't been touched upon so much, is because narratively, Floodgate served little purpose. I mean lets face it. The threat was introduced in the same mission it was solved in. The main reason Floodgate exists as a level is to get Cortana's message to the Chief. Which introduced another plot point that was forgotten about.
Hiddenxperia: I refuse to believe nobody took a video of what happened to voi Me: somehow, I feel like they were to busy running, being infected, or getting vaporized by glassing to make a tiktok about it
Question (this might have been answered already): is the common human citizen aware of the existence of the Flood and the remains of the Forerunner Civilization?
Ps: if the Halocast (a promotional Halo podcast released in Brazil) is canon, it means Axiom, the narrator of Halocast, somehow stole this information from ONI and shared live via Waypoint. Edit: with"this information" I mean the existence of the Flood and of the Forerunners (the Didact, especially).
João Víctor Brisch No, the average don't know about the flood. Humans founded Forerunner structers before the events of the game, but didn't know who or what made them. The events during Requiem is extremely classified.
João Víctor Brisch There are probably some survivors of new Mombasa that are aware of the flood. Scientists are also aware of forerunner technology. I really don’t know though, most people know of the master chief but it’s weird since most people probably don’t know about the halo rings, what he is most famous for
probably they know about Forerunners due to the millions of UNSC soldiers that probably ended up dealing with those things. I doubt Oni could really cover that up. the Flood maybe different, as less soldiers know about it and the high brass is not so willing to spread information outside the military. (perhaps they do tell people in the military or perhaps they leave it in a file for Emergencies as I doubt they would 100% allow for an unprepared military in case of another flood invasion)
I liked the touch of you using the rainbow six siege operation chimera theme, very fitting. Love the video, and never really thought much about the flood on Earth.
I absolutely love how you guys implemented the Rainbow Six Siege loading screen as the background music for ominous effect it's like a Easter egg props to you guys
America glassed in Halo? Hmmm We would need to know if Kim Jong Un nuked it first. He is a little Physcopath who loves to kill. Hell he threatens us for telling him off after he killed one of his own and unfortunately Trump threaten him back and insulted him. I'm surprised America is not a Nuclear waste land yet.
Don't apologies about still being salty about Halo 5. every one is VERY salty about it. From the Micro transactions to NO F*&($^ SPLIT SCREEN MULTIPLAYER!!!!! and no flood. plz make more flood lore. :)
Ok, Micro-transactions have a place in gaming just NOT IN HALO! I would like to have a game that is FINISHED ON RELEASE! I do not want to pay money for bad-ass looking armor, I would like to earn it. And don't get me started on "DLC". I understand that Halo 3 had some DLC but no micro-transactions like the demon spawn known as LOOT-CRATES! As i said, Micro-transactions such as loot-crates do have a place in gaming (such as Team Fortress 2 because it is free) but it has no place in the once glorious franchise known as Halo.
