TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss which direction the Flames and Senators should go in this offseason after falling short of the playoffs this year.
See I don't think that's necessarily true, If he plays to his formal self in Florida then he can be a good fit, like they said he was over a point per game player in the second half of the season. And the flames have a lot of first round picks this year, the flames will be good
@@darrenbueckert3816 we’ve been talking about him playing like he did in Florida for 2 years. It’s not happening, he had a little stretch this season but it’s not consistent enough. He’s hurting this team because he doesn’t play a 2-way game
@@garycochrane4829 who cares? Did he get 63? Nope. CONSISTENCY. I don’t care what his pace was or what he’s doing in a 3 or 4 week span. Do it the whole year, and if he can’t do it for 82 games, then play some two way winning hockey. He doesn’t do that
I'm sorry Craig, but comparing Vegas and Calgary is just not realistic. Vegas is Vegas, no state tax, beautiful all year around, US city. Those are huge factors.
I think Craig's point was the following. Calgary now is like Vegas after year one. Maybe not as good. But the Flames have to follow the path that Vegas took. Nobody says it'll be easy-to your point. Maybe a better comparison for the Flames is the Habs. Started with not much but have put together a team that looks good. With luck a couple more years and it's playoffs. At least their fans are taking the rebuild well.
Drafting Iginla as their first pick shows how bad Calgary's Management really is, he's had one good season and in prior years was projected to go in the much later rounds. Nostalgia does not build Hockey teams.
We're just living off the glory days of Lanny. Even during the Iginla era we were never that great of a playoff team. Kipper did a lot of carrying in 04
