@@Talisguy Considering the state of Hungary's economy after 15 years of Orban, and how Trump left the US economy in 2020, I'd say the later was more competent. At least in terms of economics. Under Trump, taxes were lowered, business regulations scrapped, jobs were created, prices for consumer goods got lower or at least stagnated and wages increased. It was a period of prosperity until the advent of covid.
@Kalimdor199Menegroth Most economists don't think that can be attributed to him. The economic trends under him were mostly consistent with Obama's second term, and most of his economic policies were considered by experts to be at best neutral and at worst actively detrimental. Slashing regulations is also not a good thing. Most of them are there for a reason.
@@Talisguy They are his. Economy was rather shit under Obama. What made the Trump economy great was the tax reduction act and the scrapping of regulations which greatly increased the number of businesses and job creation. This is what economists agree upon. Simply check Thomas Sowell's assessment. He even went as far to claim Trump's economic policy was the best since Reagan. Slashing regulations is the best thing possible. Most of them are there for bureaucratic reasons anyway. Look at Europe. Why we cannot innovate anything? Because we take care to regulate it out of existence first.

if EU want to be any kind of power in this world at all, they have to work with China and Russia and not just be a vassal of the US as it is now, that is the simple reality, EU is going down financially and being irrelevant on the world stage because they are vassals of the US and are isolating themselves as the world move away from a US dominated world, seems like ou live in the year 2000 and not 2024

"Make Europe Great Again" is a pretty silly thing to say considering Europe as a whole is in a better state than it has been in decades. Not that long ago, it was split in half by the Iron Curtain. Iberia was also full of dictatorships. Germany was also split in half.
Demographic crisis (people aren't having kids and Europe is being flooded with foreigners), debt crisis (all European countries are running a big budget deficit), economic crisis (most countries' economies still haven't recovered from the 2008 financial crisis), Europe is entirely dependent on the US for defence. All this while South Asia and SE Asia are rising, further waning Europe's relevance on the global stage.
The main caveat of the EU is to not have made a provision for failures. So expulsion should be an option. Not having that puts all the EU concept in jeopardy.
Yeah man they put so much effort into deciding how nations join the EU but it seems like they didn't think they might need to expel anyone. They withhold membership until certain provisions are met but what do they do to those nations who are now members but no longer meet those provisions? Why do positive members need to meet criteria current members don't meet? Clearly withholding funds is not much of a bargaining chip
Yes, veto power gets messy when organizations grows beyond a certain size. This is an issue for both EU and NATO. At least EU does have expulsion protocols, but those fail when there are more then one nation that is the problem as they can protect each other with veto.

Yea, I know that Orban is a pacifist and, a true thinker. If Orban would have been in Kyiv instead of the "pacifists" that came after 2014 in power, Ukraine at least would not have blew up Nord Stream. And the question is: would the US give candies if a foreign country would blow up the oil pipes from the Golf of Mexico? Gymnasium level people are present here.
@@gabrielconstantinescu6638 who are the pacifists that you are talking about? Orban did not go to kyiv for 2 reasons: 1. the worsening situation of the hungarian minority in Ukraine. 2. He always had good relations with Russia, both on economic and personal level. Nobody really thinks he is a pacifist. The argument was that he went to kyiv to represent the EU. Orban is a good communitarian and puts his own and Hungary's interest before anything. He will not fall into line just beacuse the EU ask him to do so.
He's lying about that. He is just looking for help from abroad in exchange for disrupting the EU. It's working, he remains popular and in power within Hungary.
Orban can bark all he wants but it does not stop the fact that he still lacks allies for all of this. The closest thing he has is Fico and even that is a stretch since both of them really don't like each other and Fico is frustrated by the constant attempts of Hungary to interfere in Slovak politics due to the Hungarian minority living there. The Patriots are third biggest Group but they still lack all kind of influence.
His friendship with Fico is really funny since Fico was called hungarian hater by Orbán back in the time…also Fico is a social democrat and Orbán built his propaganda around politics from the left is the all the bad. In Hungary mentoning liberals or the left is equal to suffering, wars, debt, dictatorship, migration, end of freedom, aliens etc. This man have wonderful capabilities and he could lift up Hungary but he lost his mind…
he has way more allies than that, some however only support his policy about migration and more power back to the states but not his policy about Ukraine, others support all of it, look at the new group he created, that's his allies plus another group who wan't much of the same, however for now the Globalists still have the majority , that won't last though , just look at what happen in every election, the Globalist center get smaller
Also, The Patriots are led by French Jordan Bardella, not by Orban. He so desperately tries to be relevant but bigger and older EU players will always outmaneuver him. All influence he has, comes from veto power, not much else.

Orban's character of deception, corruption and authoritarianism doesn't bode well for anybody - the responsibility to deal with him lies with the Hungarian nation. As far as their own future, each European nation will have to decide for itself whether they want to retain their culture, etc. Most have not even had that discussion and developed a future strategy.

As someone cursed to live in Hungary I can tell you this has always been like this. One of our best writers even wrote a magnificent literary masterpiece about it titled "We should go back to Asia".
If he called for dissolution, why didn't he just leave? If he doesn't wish to be a part of the EU, he should exit. We don't need someone who prioritizes his own interests and obstructs what everyone else wants.
The problem for Orbán, without the EU, Hungary as a country would be far weaker, Orbán knows that his only real influence is the vote he has in the EU, he also knows that if Hungary were to leave the EU, Hungary would be useless to the likes of Trump, Putin and Xi, so as much as he doesn't like the EU, he has no choice but to stay in as that is his only real power. I do think that if the people of Hungary are not careful, it's going to lead to Hungary being kicked out of the EU and that will likely happen in stages, first Hungary will get isolated from decision-making, second, other EU members will put up their boarders on Hungary, with that, Hungary would have little to no influence in the EU, which from the EU's point of view, they would be fine with leaving it at that, but for Hungary, that would be a weak position and quite humiliating, also, by not having much of a voice in the EU, Orbán becomes useless for Trump, Putin and Xi, and honestly, I think this is the only way people in Hungary will wake up and elect someone more sensible, either way, the issue will be mostly solved whichever way Hungary goes and it's far less of an issue for the EU and it's other members. So yes, its high time the EU pulls out the nuke option on Hungary, I mean seriously, how far does Orbán have to go for the EU and its other members wake up to see that Hungary isn't a good fit for the EU club, and this does include the people, because how many elections have happened and yet the people keep voting in Orbán, in fact, that's a bigger reason why Hungary needs kicking out of the EU because the problem isn't just Orbán, it's enough of the people that are supporting his ideals, which goes against everything the EU stands for.
As a Hungarian I'm so fecking sorry for not being able to reign in our fascist attack dog for almost 1,5 decade now.
