Incredibly informative essay! It really shows that Pharrell is a perfect successor to Abloh and was built for this CD role, he will finally solidify his legacy in fashion.
I was always in the supportive side for this appointment, based on what I knew about Pharrell’s work ethos. This video opened my eyes to just how much Pharrell has already accomplished in this space, this seems like a natural step up imo and will allow the work LV to continue building on the foundation that virgil worked so hard to instil in the brand! Great video 🏆
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and Yes, I agree completely! I was hesitant when I first heard the appointment, but when I took some time to think, it made complete sense to me! Definitely a very natural progression. Now we just gotta wait to see the collection. Menswear fashion is very exciting at the moment!
Incredibly insightful. I'd been searching for an in-depth discourse on the role of CREATIVE DIRECTOR at a fashion house in 2023 but hadn't found one - until your video. Much appreciated.
Twitter gives a lot of uninformed people with opinions a platform. That said, I love videos like this that serve as a quick way to educate everyone on a topic (in this case Pharrell and his relationship with fashion.) As a long time admirer of Pharrell's work, I was excited with the announcement. It made perfect sense and you did an excellent job in communicating why he's a great fit for LV. Well done!
This is a good video .. as a man that worked at bbc ice cream back in 2005-2009 (marketing and wholesale distributor) I think Pharrell is made for the job. I know he’s gonna do great .. and like you said he has a DEEP understanding of a wide range of audiences
Really awesome to hear this from someone who has worked at one of Pharrell’s brands. Did you the announcement of his appointment surprise you at all to begin with?
@@mrdecember yes and NO. OVERALL... no.. why? because when I worked with him he had 3 managers... for 3 different reason.. one was YANDLY .. one was ROB WALKER.. (a silent partner in Star Trak & BBC Ice Cream.. and the other was Loic V... Loic is the French connect and even back then kinda liasoned all those deals from art to fashion.. Loic is a good man still in the picture.. literally.. he's always with him in the back.. so I assume.. that helped as well... but Pharrell always had good relationship skills overall .. so he's cool that family at LVMH.. And adding nigo at kenzo... it all fits... family ties.. so to speak
I was a bit surprised when Pharrell was named creative director but your video helped me understand the work Pharrell has been putting in all of these years.
Thanks Lee! And thank you for the feedback! I think I will do another video on Corporate structure of designers Tbf. It’s a very interesting topic in the modern day. Depending on which conglomerate you’re attached to, as a CD you could have a lot of freedom, or be a puppet who could blacklisted from the industry if you don’t do what you’re told.
This wasn't some opinion piece, but a well-researched video on the timeline of Pharrell's fashion career and influence in the fashion art space. In my opinion, that "nod" from Karl Lagerfeld was foretelling. Very educational...thank you! New subbie here!
Great video. Pharrell's fashion ventures have been quite niche, that's why certain people that aren't fans of hip hop, would think that he had no fashion experience
I was happy to hear your explanation about Pharrell's new position. I had heard about this wonderful experience for Pharrell. Although, I did not read or hear any negativity about it, it shows that people say things and spread things on the net without fully knowing about it.
Great video and very informative. You touched on a lot of key points that didn’t even know. Also this video was very well edited…..amazing job and great knowledge of fashion
Thank you for this explanation. While I don't think I needed explanation of Pharrell's brilliance, I did need to understand the backlash as I am not that adept in fashion. I believe Pharrell to be creative visionary with immense follow through, so picking him for this role was only a surprise because I didn't know it was an aspiration of his from a fan level. I am truly in awe and have had his runway debut for LV on repeat, I am truly inspired, so thank you so much.
It’s cool that you’ve enjoyed his show enough to watch it more than once! I just dropped a video explaining the themes and references from the show if you want to check that out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKaf-m4gzyQ.html
Pharrell is pretty much well rounded both in music (trough his albums and producing hits for other artists) and fashion (trough various fashion collaborations) 🎧👔 and this video explained exactly his story 🤟🏾 very good essay my GGG 📖 subbed
Having gotten more serious about designing fashion myself, we just released a video on jackets in South Africa… I have built my respect more and more for the great designers out there. I love the chances Pharrell takes and think he is very deserving of the position. We can’t wait to see what comes from this relationship with LV
thank you for your video, im studying in fashion school rn, and developing my own brand, it helps when you get a reference of someone else point of view on the role of creative director
Hey, thanks for the great video! I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me which Documentaries/Videos the background footage is from? Would be super helpful!
I used footage from A LOT of places. Many in the first half of the video are from 'The Kingdom of Dreams' documentary about Pre 2010s fashion, and the rest are just from various videos I've watched and saved on RU-vid over the years. Some footage from Louis Vuitton and Chanel's YT channel's are sprinkled in there as well. Hope this helps
Brilliant and thorough breakdown bro, I learned so much. Completely changed my mind regarding Pharrell's appointment to that role. I subscribed, keep the high quality vids coming! 💫
I appreciate your insightful exploration of Louis Vuitton's 2024 creative direction involving Pharrell Williams. Your analysis was genuinely enlightening. As a self-acclaimed fashion critic🙈🤣, one can't help but marvel at the distinctive approach taken by the iconic fashion house Louis Vuitton (LV). The brand has consistently showcased its ability to innovate, a testament to its creative spirit that has stood the test of time. LV's recent creative decisions serve as a compelling case study. They signal a shift, a calculated risk that pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo, aligning perfectly with LV's dynamic ethos. The rationale behind these changes is not merely whimsical; it reflects a strategic vision to address the evolving demands of the fashion landscape. The choices made by LV respond to the cultural zeitgeist, catering to a generation that yearns for unique, standout pieces rather than just logos. This shift indicates LV's deep understanding of its audience and the contemporary fashion landscape.
Interesting thoughts! I actually made a video explaining the themes and references of the collection, it sounds like a video you’d be interested in: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKaf-m4gzyQ.html
Wow! Excellent narrative, thank you! He broke the mold and they don’t like it! I’m so happy someone recognized his creative genius on a LARGE SALE! Congratulations Pharrell!!
so inspired by your video. I'm a student of fashion but also a Thespian so it's easy for me to see why LV choose Pharrell. It's a perfect fit. Music , Theater and art go hand in hand. When you have a creative mind there are literally No Limits!!!!
We are in an era of rapid change and inter-changibility .... Skateboard P's knowldege of pop culture and curating of culture is a vision that LV obviously wants, he is an artist who is a Renaissance man naturally and has this magic that will get exhanged in the process, thats what LV want from Pharrell Williams , with his earned knowlege from N.E.R.D to Bathing Ape, Billionaires Boys Club, adidas.... Fashion these days needs curators of pop culture, he is truly an ambassador of Pop Culture. Great overview Micah.
Thank you! I just put out a video explaining the collection if you want to check that out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKaf-m4gzyQ.html

Thanks for sharing, I love your fashion knowledge and the way you articulated the reason why LV hired Pharell as creative director….easy voice to listen to 🙏🏾❤️✊🏾
Great vid! Very insightful perspective on Pharrell’s appointment to the position. Looking forward to the results of this uniquely structured collaboration. Also looking forward to future content on your channel! ✌️
I really enjoyed your breakdown of the wholeness of the deal, on Pharrell obtaining the deal as the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, Your synopsis was on point, when so many heaters could not see his Creative ability.
I so enjoyed this comprehensive video. I love thought provoking well researched material. Your video was well thought out and presented in an objective manner. Kudos to you and whoever your influencers are. I subscribed and can't wait to see what you present next.
I love how you showed the moments of grace (a touch from God) were strung together to position Pharrell at LV. Listen to and read the lyrics of the song Joy by Voices of Fire the song Pharrell used for the last show, God is the giver of the gifts and the grace, like the song says…”I’ll go where he leads me”…follow the grace it will lead you just like Pharrell did.
You are well spoken, seem to know your passion . You need to fix your background to match your skills , there are even fake backgrounds now… good luck ! 💞
It really made sense from a accessory’s standpoint to give him the reins, but the challenge will be with the clothing. LV is not a streetwear brand o how will or will he at all keep that connection. Or will he go in a different direction that loses his connection with the streets. This was a very interesting and informative video
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏✨ I’ve made a video explaining the themes in the collection as well if you want to check that out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKaf-m4gzyQ.html
I’m kinda disappointed that people who cared enough about Pharrell being LV creative director and supposedly taking jobs away from designers but don’t know his resume. That’s crazy af.
