You should make a video on how to hit a nice and strong but low forehand I don’t really know how to hit those I really wish I did because I think there are lots of scenarios where I could use a nice forehand Thanks
Yeah I would like to see this too. I have watched tennis videos on how to hit a strong forehand with top spin but would like to see it as it pertains to pickleball. From setup with body to the shoulder turn swing to finishing position. Maybe done with a machine as a drill. Thanks for all the videos you do they help and you present them in a very professionally but friendly and fun way.
Thanks! I was a total beginner 3 weeks ago. I played against two tennis players who won over me really hard. Now thanks to your videos, when I play against them, there is always a tied. Hopefully very soon, I am going to win! 😉
Can you do individual videos for best scenarios for certain kinds of spin? For example, when serving into the wind, which spin is best to create a low bounce that’s hard to hit, or spin scenarios that throw off opponents during play or kill bounce etc?
As always - great info and technique. Then again the one thing that stuck out in this presentation was all of the debris on the court. This was not up to the professional standards that I have come to expect from Prime Time Pickleball. Would have taken about 5 minutes to sweep off that court.
What were you trying to indicate with the arrows starting at 5:43? I'm pretty sure that hitting a wall won't give you a sudden reverse of the existing spin.
Spin is completely over rated and over used techniques used by beginners. They need to learn how to hit the ball on the court, control their shot placement, anticipate where their opponent is going to hit their shot before even thinking about spin.. i love playing “spinners” because I know 75% of their shot will either not make it across the net or land anywhere close to the court.
Learning different kinds of spin is vital as you make your way to becoming an intermediate and advanced player. This video just goes over the beginning stages of how to develop that. After you have learned the basics and know how to control the ball well, this is a great way to understand how the ball reacts off of your paddle.
What about top spin? I have a pretty good top spin serve, but any other time I attempt a top spin during a rally I tend to put it into the net. Is there a way to impart an effective top spin during a rally?
Hey Jerry and green light, we may do a top spin video soon. If you are trying to get as much spin as in ping pong, that may be tough to do. Although the top spin drive can be a very good and consistent shot if you have the right mechanics and if you drill it the right way. Many top players use a good amount of topspin on a variety of their shots.
@@primetimepickleball Thanks! I also come from a ping pong background and learned early on that spins in Pickleball aren't as effective as they are in ping pong and in most cases I don't see much effect from my spin on the return hit, but I see a lot of effect in the bounce after I hit or how far/short the ball travels before the bounce, etc. Looking forward to more content from you, thanks!!!
@@JerryAlan Have you watched Jordan's video on the back hand roll with Ben Johns ; blob:ru-vid.com The otter video you should is when to attack their dink. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AUghADzlVWE.html
Hey Jerry, I have exactly the same issue, I can't get my top-spin consistently over the net. I noticed that this issue is also experienced by former tennis players at our club. And by the way is it legal to top spin serve? I was told that is not allowed as the movement of the arm is not continuous as we spinned the wrist.
@@ErnaNurlina I don't move my wrist during my serve, instead I hit the ball a little later than I would if I didn't want the top spin, and follow through is vital. It's hard to explain but if I want to hit a serve without spin, I'll hit it a little earlier, and if I want to hit a serve that has more height to it, I'll hit it even earlier. This video is a good representation of my top spin serve mechanics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IV4jRt9BKlo.html. You can see that she isn't moving or flicking or spinning her wrist at all. It's all about point of contact and follow through.
Thank you! VERY helpful video introduction to spin. Practicing on a wall is brilliant. Wanting to learn and understand spin this was great! Thanks again.
Thanks Jordan! Great video. I have no problem with flat or slice (and inside out). Where I need work is my topspin cross court forehand dink. I'm getting it, but it's not my natural shot, though I can do it with drives and serves. Perhaps you could do a video on that. :)
Hi, Jordan, your videos are great to watch, thanks for posting them! I am a beginner with Pickleball about 1 month, struggling to find a paddle that fits me, 6' 2" a past athlete with arthritis in my arms and shoulder. Tried a Selkirk Invitka X5 and now a Kinetic Ovation Speed paddle which I like (no vibration) but do not think it is for me, not such a big sweet spot. Also, my hands are medium size and according to Pickleball central, I require a mid-size grip. May I ask you for your advice, please? Many Thanks Vito
Thanks Vito! Too be honest, I’d say try as many paddles that you can get your hands on. And try them for more than a few minutes. You’ll find something you like. Engage, paddletek, and Selkirk all have great paddles.
