Wow thats a beautiful specimen. Where i live in hot dry blue mountains i was surprised to find a patch of them struggling to grow in the most sparse dusty hot dry part of the bush one i found had about 20 clumped together others had lost prongs and looked torn apart like some animal was eating it amazing tree to find in the bushland it really stands out among the other bush specimens it has a type of magic power i guess as some say. i have to admit they are hypnotizing to look at in contrast to the gums and eucalypts the hickories and hard wood eucalypts out there
If you plant from seed, Would you put gravel in the pot for drainage? Also would the native potting mix you get from a local hardware store be ok? Would you need feed the potted plant dynamite lifter once a year or twice a year? Cheers
No, Dasylirion Longissimum grows in much drier climates and is treated differently. Full sun, very little water and well drained dryish soils. SEE www.smgrowers.com/products/plants/plantdisplay.asp?plant_id=495 for more detailed information.
Yes they can grow in pots, choose a pot twice the diameter as the plant, or thereabouts. Use a native plant potting mix. You will need to water more in pots than you would in the ground, BUT never wet and soggy. Generally they a little happier in the ground in the long term...
@@MrEnso Hello EM. I am sure it will grow well given a little care and its what we all need, a bit of international goodwill. I would really like to hear how this goes for you. So maybe send some photos or even a short video. If you need any information or advice, let us know. Kate (for johnny A)
