@@teresacorrigan3076although I agree with you, something tells me Rex didn’t keep this vehicle bc “he thought he would use it.” 🥴 People like Rex (ALLEGEDLY!) typically keep trophies to re-live their sick doings/fantasies. I don’t think it’d be crazy to assume one of the girls (if not more) could’ve been killed in that truck. If not killed, that was likely the vehicle used to dump the bodies, at the very least. So I believe it to be a sort of “link” to the murders for him. No way would he let it go. He gave it to his brother who he owns property with down in the Carolina's. Then he bought a new Avalanche. So, it wasn't like he kept it in storage or something. He gave it to his brother. However their relationship is known to be "unhealthy" as his brother killed a police officer, but got off with manslaughter and is already free and has been violent towards Rex publicly over what many people would consider small issues. His brother is said to have beat Rex over the head for mowing his brothers yard on a day he didn't want him too. Not a love tap, but came out and walked up behind him and struck him so hard he could have killed him or done serious damage and a neighbor called PD to make sure things were OK.

The police don't really care about them, their profession and lifestyle put them below the belly of society. Same with those that die with a criminal record. The police don't use their resources to investigate the murders of such individuals. They are the forgotten populus of America. This case has been very much in the news here in Iceland cause Rex is married to an Icelandic woman. Ása Ellerup. Also I´ve been following this sad sad murders for years now and I always believed they were going to be solved but yeah to find out that his wife is Icelandic and her family lives here, they have been in the news here like her sister, Jóhanna, has talked to the Icelandic press about Rex and how the whole family is in complete shock because like she said, the sister, "I never saw evil in his eyes" He fooled everyone like these monsters tend to do. @@jaswin5994 By all the information that I've read and heard is that the wife, she didn't have a clue. She is in complete shock, she is depressed and her children (she has one with him) are also in shock and Ása, the wife, is divorcing him. Like so many other serial killers this monster lived a double life totally and serial killers are great in manipulation and separating these two lives completely. And when this monster killed those poor victims he is now charged for, the police went through everything and the wife was never in town when he murdered these women. She was in Iceland for example and also on other occasion travelling also with the children, she was never at home when he killed his victims. He had the house for himself always. Dennis Rader (B.T.K) was married for decades with children and his wife and children of course didn't even think that he could be this monster also. As everyone said, great father for example... Keith Jesperson (Happy face killer) also family, wife and children but he also like many many serial killers can somehow hide this truly monsterous side and just like a flip after brutally killing innocent women become "the family man" again. Wich is a scary thought!!! But it was in the news here in Iceland today that Ása's neighbours, former wife of this monster, they gave the police a gift basket to bring to her and a card that read "If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask us and our thoughts are with you" and she was so moved because imagine your whole life and your childrens lives turned completely upside down in the most horrible way!! And the scariest of all is that these monsters live amongst us and we have no idea cause monsters aren't walking around looking like some big, awful, green creature.... Just act like other people act and look like people do. That's the scariest part I think 😳

I just want to point out how hard we for a fact know they made it for the families to report the 4 identified women missing. One family literally hired a lawyer to try and *he* got turned down too. One of these 4 only was only able to be reported missing because the mom knew a police officer in her own town, and he called in a personal favor with the New York police to have a missing person report made on her. You shouldn't need connections to get a missing sex worker to have a file on it. They made one of them report the woman woman missing in Massachusetts because it was her permanent address. It's like if I went missing at Disneyland and they made my partner go back to Iowa to report me missing. Absolutely ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous. Some people rightly cut off their trash family and have very strong support groups of friends, who cannot legally report you missing, despite trying to. There are a LOT of cases where the Doe was a sex worker, and people spent years and years talking about how no one loved or missed her, when it turned out her family HAD tried reporting her multiple times. Please don't assume the unidentified must not have been loved.

It's very possible that many of those bodies aren't even connected to this case. It's a desolate area and people would know that it would always stay an overgrown marsh area because it's impossible to develop (or else there would already be condos there that had been there for years). This makes it a perfect hiding spot- no one is going to go hiking through a bug infested, swampy marsh, you wouldn't be able to see anything from the air due to the growth, nothing down that road but some private homes set back from that area so long stretches with no cameras, even today, etc. Where better to hide a body? You could carry it 20 ft into the marsh and not ever see it from the road. Also, there's a good chance several of those people were reported missing but not in that area- maybe they left Kansas or Mississippi or California 20 years ago and went to NY area. Their family might report them missing back home but that wouldn't automatically show up when they're searching that area's missing persons, especially older cases.

I too didn't believe this case would ever be solved. I thought either he was dead, moved on to another part of the world or was incarcerated. Now that we know he's alive and well I believe he merely changed his hunting / dumping grounds. Rural areas of South Carolina and outside Las Vegas would be my guess.

I live on Long Island and my partner lives in massapequa, so these horrible and tragic murders finally having a suspect is amazing. It’s so creepy knowing he was in the same town and how these type of people just fly under the radar daily. He’s a truly sick person that is finally going to get what he deserves for all of this. Edit: I forgot to say thank you for covering it! Your work is phenomenal and I love how you always say positive things about the victims bc these women especially are getting so much sh*t from people bc they were sex workers. Great work Mike!!

No, it's not over with one man. For this case, most likely there are multiple serial rapist/killers who took the opportunity to make it look like it was a single serial killer. For obvious reasons.

Her bizarre call and foggy repeated phrase "someone's after me," reminds me exactly of how my boyfriend acted in Sept 2021 when he was slipping into a coma brought on by toxicity in his brain (he was immediately diagnosed with end stage liver disease / cirrhosis). I called 911 and when the ambulance arrived, he'd only say "I got it. I got it. I got it." Obviously, she does that have liver disease, but it sounds like a similar sort of high level toxicity in the brain. Very sad. Likely, the bizarre speech made the 911 operator think she was simply high, or mentally unwell --- NOT in danger. So many variables in these situations, that it's inevitable 911 operators will misinterpret levels of danger.

I think he said she had Bipolar (Manic Depression) which can cause people to suddenly act oddly and basically lose contact with reality. A repeated phrase can be indicative of a manic episode. More “Bombshell tonight” blonde in that gorgeous (totally realistic) wig, please Mike!! What I find saddest about this case (and others of a similar nature) is that so many victims remain unidentified. That is an extra layer of trauma and tragedy on top of their horrific deaths. 😢 Were they so totally alone and unloved? Or is there a grieving family still wondering if their loved one is alive or dead? So unbelievably dreadful.

When older cases get solved, I can’t help to feel for the family. Of course I feel sympathy for those families who lost loved ones by his hand, but it’s hard to even imagine what they’re going through. He was a man who they thought was a husband, a father, and provider they thought they knew for everything to have been a lie. Their whole world has turned upside down through no fault of their own. None of us know the family dynamics but even if he was an awful husband and father, this would still be a shock. No one thinks, or at least wants to think, that their family member is a serial killer. I don’t even know where’d you begin to pick up the pieces. I’m sure many friends are keeping their distance. They will also have to live the next couple years with a huge murder trial hanging over their heads. There really is no trying to move on or heal with something like that constantly at the back of your mind.

Not so much what I say or do, but moreso trying to think of what the OTHER person might FEEL based on what I say to them or how I treat them. Watching Patrice Bergeron retirement speech, it dawned on me that, above all else, people remember how they were made to feel by you. Growth can be uncomfortable, but it's always for the best.

BTK's daughter Kerri speaks to how her father, because he was such a psychopath could lie so convincingly and compartmentalize. They never suspected it. Also, he could be abusive at times so kept everyone under control.

Shannon Gilbert led to Rex's killing fields. The weird part is, I think that the cause of her death was believed to be via drowning, or exposure, and not murder. She died, by accident, of her own undoing, and her Mother refused to stop looking for her, and in the end Shannon was the beacon that shined a light on this serial killer dumping ground, and her death led to his undoing. It's strange....she was sort of a Godsend....sad that she died trying to get her life together.
