Man I just love watching relatively unknown people who are absolute experts at what they do.

i have no idea what you're talking about as i'm totally ignorant to horse anatomy and care-taking, but it's fascinating to watch. Keep up the good work and educating the people!

kitsurubami I'm not understanding this either, not what parts of a horses hoof contains nerves or living tissue.
@joosoo

kitsurubami The hoof is like a toenail, and acts like a cap, protecting the laminae. If you were to cut too deeply into a hoof, you would injure the horse.

As a vet in Aus I wish we had more farriers like you who are well educated and understand the true hoof anatomy! Where I currently live I have not seen one single horse owner (judging by their horses hooves) who KNOW exactly what their farrier is doing and why! We have shit for brains farriers where I am, it makes it difficult just to get my horse trimmed or shod correctly, I'm a stickler for fine details and information. Luckily one man here does a decent job and ACTUALLY works along side vets which I hold highly. Love the videos! Keep posting

I'm not a expert in horses nor of tending to their hooves but I do enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Your a better teacher then the books I've read about horse care. It is something I've always wondered why don't the wild horses have hoof problems and why not allow owned horses do the same?
@HoofTech
@HoofTech 6 лет назад
Domestic horses don't travel enough to maintain their hoof growth. Plus horses in the wild that have poor hooves? (we don't know that answer) because they probably didn't survive.

I don’t own a horse never have. Just like learning things. I see it just not buying a horse and food and training. I see for good care of you horse you may not know how to trim and take care of your horses hooves but you better know enough to know your farrier knows. A life time just learning, treating and caring for horses hooves. Wow.

Does the horse has ticks on it legs?
@kaileylane
@kaileylane 6 лет назад
No that thing you see on the inside of the leg is called a chestnut and it is a normal part of a horses anatomy.

What does the shape of the bale have to do with its nutritional content?
@HoofTech
@HoofTech 6 лет назад
Nothing realy, but most of the time they're not taken of the same field which can make a huge difference!
@BrownLill99
@BrownLill99 6 лет назад
Bill Campanelli I realise different fields yield different harvests due to the composition of the soil, but you also have to factor in the floral composition, time of harvest and weather.. Either one of these factors make a huge different to the end result!
@HoofTech
@HoofTech 6 лет назад
Absolutely, but depending where you live you may only have a couple of choices where to get hay locally. So if I have to haul in hay from another area "that won't happen"! Most would just get rid of the horse, But I would put them in shoes & some others would do the same.

From YUKON TERRITORY CANADA I say thank you so much for your expertise and video's. It seems some videos you are clearly upset with some of the owners/Vet's but I look at it like screw them I am here to help the animal no matter what. No the animal can't pay us but in their own ways they are great full for what we have done for them and this is how I get through each day without slapping the shit out of someone. LMAO!!!! You are excellent at what you do Sir and I salute you. Well done

I have watched many videos on just horse hooves in one degree of wellness to one that killed the horse. The education that a farrier needs to have to do a good job is staggering. If you own a horse or many of them, find a good farrier and use their services often.
@arianapenny23
@arianapenny23 6 лет назад
since the frog is softer and more meaty than the rest of the hoof, does the horse even feel it? i know dogs chew on them occasionally which makes me think they might have nutritional value, so do they feel anything on the frog?
@HoofTech
@HoofTech 6 лет назад
Not unless the frog is unhealthy, or you cut way too much off Yes, very high in protein.

the transformation is happening to a modest degree But the toe and quarters are still too long....hard to say but nearly an inch more needs to come off...the toe and quarters
@HoofTech
@HoofTech 6 лет назад
LMAO! Ah yes ladies & gentlemen here again we have an "armchair farrier"!!!!!! Go to his channel & you'll see that he has absolutely nothing, zilch, nodda thing on the subject. If he had listened to anything I had said here? Then he would know that this horses lamina is inflamed. To take all that off is foolish unless you're going to put that hoof into so type of protective covering. You'll only grow what you stimulate. So backing it off where I did I'm stimulating the front portion of the sole "which will produce sole. To even make a comment as to going back an inch more "You're an ass"! Don't come in my classroom trying to teach..........People like you have lost the meaning of "my space" Friggen democrats (go start your own classroom) if you're that damn intelligent?
