Next year after resting the off season I think he will be back to being one of the best point guards and continue to develop and eventually be like the 2015 warriors
I’ve never seen anyone explode off a cut so fast after a sudden change of direction. It’s unguardable. I don’t even know if its humanly possible to react to that type of movement. It’s legitimately terrifying. Urgh it’s so aggravating thinking of how badly true fans of basketball got robbed of this man’s talent. Some people don’t care because mvp Rose never played for their teams but damn it was a pleasure watching him play.
I never played organized basketball.. wasn't really a fan till my dad said check out the Bulls they got the 1st pick this year... I've been a diehard fan ever since
That injury changed the entire landscape of Basketball. Rose was so good not even a Lebron & Wade double team at the rim could stop him. Lj would have 0 rings had Rose never been injured.
Marcus Ragot funny because everyone knows DRose was a dawg at a point in time.. but actually watching some of the things he did and being reminded of how incredible he once was is kinda sad.. he wasn’t just great, he was unbelievable and cut down in his prime
This should be a lesson to everyone appreciate greatness in the moment because you never know how quickly it could go. That goes for Lebron, Steph, KD, AD and all these other unique nba talents we have.
MVP D rose was basically Westbrook athleticism but with way better IQ in terms of when to drive/pass/shoot. It's been 5 years now and Westbrook still isn't clutch enough to rival D rose 2011
+wassuh rose was only 22 when he won MVP he was not in his prime yet most players prime years are 25-28 but he got injured and never experienced his prime
Thomas Nygren lol ok well don’t take my word for it Rose was 2 inches shorter with 4 more inches of vertical, the definition of more explosive but ok captain revisionist history
As a working photojournalist based in Chicago, I got to witness D Rose's rookie season, his MVP season, and many of his skills up close (I'm visible in many of these clips taken at the UC, and I was there for his first injury in the playoffs Vs the 76ers), from the baseline. He was magical, on both ends of the court. Such a shame his injuries limited what he has been able to do, but we the fortunate ones who saw him live, in his prime, will never forget it.
He'll be back again, but in an improved way, a better all around scorer. Chicago will get the ring they deserve have patience people, Rose and Butler are still young
I don't think they can compete for a championship anymore. Don't get me wrong they're a top team in the East, but with the Heat, Cavs, and the stacked western conference, I don't think they have a chance
This is the guy that made NBA exciting for me back in the day. Heard of Lebron, Kobe, etc. here in Europe, didn't care. But this guy... man, he was amazing in his prime years. He gave NBA his best! Nothing to be ashamed of that your game gets worse when your body betrays you. Thank you for all the highlight plays Derrick.
Drose was legit the next MJ. I think he pushed his body past their limits and his body just couldn't keep up with the damage he was doing to it. For real though he put in more work than anyone else when he was on the court.
1:48 that layup on wade and lebron was heroic for me. it was the time when the big 3 was the enemy of the league and drose was the mvp fighting for supremacy
He might not go up dunk on people , or when he gets the rebound he gets down the court in 3-4 secs to finish a fast break wit a layup , but he's still DERRICK ROSE , this kid came back this season 2 weeks before PLAYOFF BASKETBALL averaged 21 ppg and 6.5 assist i personally think Derrick is working on his game right now and next year he will show everybody why he is still one of the best in the nba and will secure a top 5 point guard spot !
At the time he was the most explosive player in the league. It's hard to stay healthy when you're going full speed the entire game. Gotta miss the OG Rose.
Man, if he never got injured, and he had his the athleticism along with his skills today Especially during that 50 pt game with the t wolves, he would have scored more than 70 man
my goodness, he was so good. so sad he got injured. he seriously could've been one of the best to ever play. had the name for it and everything, so good. simply unmatched.
I agree but it's a different kind of explosiveness. Westbrook is explosive, strength and forcing himself. Drose was shifty, fast and quick explosiveness that's more finessed. Think LeBron vs Jordan. Both explosive. LeBron relies on his size and strength while Jordan relies on his skills, hang time and shiftiness, changing pace, one step and shifting directions
He's still quicker and faster than Westbrook today. Westbrook looks like he drinks too much. But he's 6'5 and rose is nowhere near 6'3 for people who kno him frm da lo end knows pooh aint 6 ft tall at all yall. Reggie aint 6ft tall either. Yall rmbr where his favorite playground is and yall kno he aint no 6'3. Pooh like 5'10" frfr..
Dang, this video defiently needed to be made because he deserves the respect. However, i cry everytime i watch highlights of him because it was "imo" one of the most tragic sports story. If he never aquired those injuries i couldnt imagine what he would have acomplished. Such a raw pure talent. So sad! God bless you d rose one of the best my brotha.
The thing I Loved about him most was honestly how humble he was and honestly still seems to be he can do the craziest play and his facial expression doesn’t change like it’s not amazing haha he was just going for the win and nothing compares to watching this man live
Victor Nikets curry played bad in the finals and still won, curry played bad last night and still won by 20. dude its so obvious. curry would not nearly be as good as he is now if he was on another team.
+awrawrr You speak the truth. Klay Thompson is nearly equal to Curry, and the entire team can shoot. Any point guard will dominate when the floor is that wide open. It'd be a layup drill for Rose if he played with that team.
it would probably only make him depressed. knowing he could have went down as one of the greatest athletic players ever. it's sad that he just can't physically do it anymore. I've been a bulls fan long before they drafted rose, but man there was something magical about him in that 2012 season. he was like a combination of Westbrook and kyrie. had the insane handles and body control of kyrie, mixed with the freakish athleticism of Westbrook, and you have vintage d rose. whenever people talk about d rose I always like to say he was Westbrook before there was westbrook
It is my opinion that if D rose never got Injured the top 3 list would look a little something like this : (No order) 1. Kobe 2. MJ 3. D Rose D Rose had the same work ethic and competitive edge as MJ and Kobe and all the talent in the world, It is truly sad I will never get to see what could have become of his career.
Actually that game when the bulls were facing philly the bulls coach at the time had kept Derrick in for to long. And you know what happens when you play too long
+King Melo *Industry Insider* I'm still a bulls fan but def watching all the Knicks games. Hope they get 4 seed and bulls get 5th so rose can whoop their ass tho
I'm a bulls fan also. But I would love to see that happen. Bulls traded him early, I would have gave him one more chance. He seems to be doing fine so far with the Knicks
I used to hate him back in the day cuz he always murdered my team but it makes me sad to see what happened to him dude could've been one of the top pgs of all time ... I'd still take MVP rose over any pg in the league right now
illWillOfficial Not the point, no matter what he does he will never be the same, I use to watch the man before I could multiply lmao, He was so great that you hated him just because you knew he was gonna kick your teams ass
Man no way. He is my idol but no. He is a 75 in 2k disrespect. He cant come. His hair is causing to lost his athleticsm. It growed and athleticsm gone lol
Ali Eren Mazıcı did you see him in the playoffs he was the only player in the wolves Houston couldn’t guard why do you think they resigned him he still has skill y’all act like he turned into Tracy McGrady after he got hurt he’s still effective
Derrick Rose never gets injured meaning stay injured free The Bulls has already won at least 3 World titles by now! And he goes down as one of the greatest players of all-time PERIOD!
Oms and he put his body onna line for this city and the world. There will never be another derrick rose. Living legend. Fucking youngest mvp. For sure he’s Hall of fame bound. Took 3 superstars to defeat this nigga and his best second player was fucking Carlos boozer or deng(however u spell that bullshit) he had a better record then both the big 3s. Boston and Miami. He was a fucking pitbull
This is making me cry. I remember growing up watching Penny Hardaway career never be the same after injuries and this is the same. I wish he can stay healthy and find some form of happiness back in basketball
eazi cash Not a curse, a blessing, the way he stayed in the air for so long, and the way he contorts his body violently to get his shot off is simply amazing.
This clip of Derek Rose's reminds me of Bo Jackson back in the day. Both careers shortened by injury. But if you got a chance to see them play without major injuries. One can only imagine what we would have witnessed.
i don't know the exact number, but it seems like half of these plays have derrick rose awkwardly landing his jumps i was like oh shit no wonder his knees are fucked.
Yea that's why people were on his ass when he got hurt, he was just so reckless, granted it worked, but your body can only take so much shit. It's sad tho, shoulda woulda coulda.
To this channel and to Derrick himself. Thank you. I lost interest in basketball a couple of years ago but about two years ago I came across this video and since then my respect and appreciation for the game is more then ever before. Rose sir u are a true basketball legend.
Rose was a straight hooper One of the greatest what ifs to ever enter the league Still remember that wolves game a couple years back, I feel like everyone wanted to see him succeed
Thank you so much for having this video. Nearly every game my parents watch, they say "He better not hurt himself again". This would finally prove how great of a player he really is.
This man deserves to be in the HOF period. I dont care if he achieves much else from now on out. What he has accomplished, what he has been through and how he has returned has been a true inspiration to all. Also Chicago better retire his jersey.
IMO he should be, but I can see that not happening. The NBA is generally pretty lenient with HOF selections tho, so it can still happen, he just wont be a first ballot.
Doorman nah not unless he plas for a really long time. Remeber he got hurt in his 3rd year. All the great things he did only happened in the ifrst few years of his career. His stats wont ever be good enough again, and I doubt he'll win anymore awards like MVP again. I just dont see a way its possible for him to make it withou doing something worthy of it
I am very thankful that he’s in MN! I will never forget about D Rose! Truly one of a kind! I am surprised they didn’t add his defense highlights! Too fast too strong too good on errything 💯
Fact is, rose won the mvp and westbrook got nothing. Rose dragged a subpar supporting cast to 60+ win seasons and the second round of the playoffs and westbrook couldn't get his team to to playoffs, but westbrook wasn't healthy for the entire season last year, so you need to factor that in as well.
One of the greatest Bulls prospect, if not the greatest, since the Jordan-era. Thank you, for fucking up this talent, Gar Forman, John Paxson and Jerry Reinsdorf. Nepotistic tendency having snakes.
I´m from germany...when the nba plays, it is here 2 am in the morning. There were 2 times that i stood up to watch...first when jordan played 95-98 and the 2011 Bulls...man was that cool
@@dot_380gaming nah if derrick rose was healthy with the skill set he has today he would be one of the greatest players to ever play. He is a way better shooter, and playmaker, with far better handles too. A shame really.
@@dvdivine1962 I understand you completely. What I’m saying is, Derrick Rose was at his best abilities before injuries occurred. Yes, injuries helped him develop mentally. But, we’ll never see MVP level rose again due to him running his body to the ground for fan’s approval. The level of trickery he showed was unmatched. Just wish he wasn’t so reckless.
BITXH GET UP OFF ME Westbrook shoots better, no doubt about it BUT DRose was UNSTOPPABLE EVERY GAME HE PLAYED IN. they had to foul the man just to keep points off the board.
not the right person u should compared with .. unlike wb .. drose dont chase no number .. he is the kind u have to depend on when score is needed when his teamates are ineffective .. and im not talking about during season .. he's a playoff beast .. brooke can only do that in non playoff game
These videos are truly tear evoking. Just as someone who has a strong passion in something, I can relate to the feeling of everything feeling like it's being taken away from you. At least he made millions!
he might never be the most efficient point guard but he definitely was the most unguardable one, I mean look at how neither dwade or lbj could block or affect his shot, and those dunks OMG straight off two legs I'll say it's even better than Westbrook's. And the way he just BLOWS BY ANY of his defenders SOOOO FREAKING FAST I MEAN OMG
That's not fair at all for you to say such thing, Westbrook and LeBron are just as wreckless if not more and they have never suffered a major injury, it's just bad luck.
merio no. It's not "luck" that they are Always healthy. They have some of the best landing mechanics in the NBA and they are aware that injuries don't happen with no reason. If D-Rose took care of his body like Lebron does he would not be a bench player rn.
King Phil Exactly, it's not a surprise at all that he eventually got injured. Bad landing mechanics is the reason his achillies and knees didn't hold up for long.
