Please bring quality control back yo your Countdown and Husky Jerk lines. About 2/3 of them don't run true anymore. I'm not the only guy I know who says this.
I've been a user of Rapala baits for over 43 years. Rapala's were the first lures I bought as a young kid with my money earned on the family farm after a week's work, $5. I still have and use some of those lures to this day.
Rapala is the first lure brand I learned and bought, over 40 years ago. That lure, and several like it, are still in my tackle box. Rapala is a way of life.
@@ronaldmcdonald3965 : Closer to 50, for me. The most expensive lure in that display case at the hardware store. I can remember spending $1.65 for the privilege of buying one in a flyspeck village. It was my first and best topwater lure, from Day 1. The wounded minnow imitation, where you make it look like a hurt fish trying but failing to swim to the depths. Irresistible to bass. Immune to snagging in rocks. The one lure you'd jump in and get, when any other time, you'd be scared to go in. Rapala courage.
This was really cool! The first fishing lure I ever used was a Rapala Floating Minnow my Dad gave me. That was nearly 30 years ago, and I have enjoyed using them ever since. Have caught many different species and sizes of fish over the years!
There are cheap made in china knock-off lures available, but I have found the quality, durability, and action of the Rapala to be worth the price always!
no wonder the rapla is so good out here in the northwest.. It was made and designed by a lumberjack! I will think more about my rapala lure how it was made and even to saying it right from this moment on.. well done.. I have used rapalas for about 50 years now thanks Laurie!
My first bass I ever caught was on a Rapala when I was around 9 years old at a kids fishing derby. Bass weighted 6.5 pounds and got me a trophy for biggest fish and a picture in the local news paper. My parent had the bass mounted and the lure hangs from its mouth. I never used it again. Awesome seeing this story! Thanks for great memories Rapala!
To be fair, I’ve tested them and they bomb compared to the Shakespeare Big S or the Rublex Ondex No.6 spinner. The catch rates are considerably lower and that’s testing them for 1000’s of hours alongside other lures. A twitched dead bait surpasses all artificials, especially in terms of successful hook ups and fish landed. The trebles also hurt the fish and are horrible to unhook, compared to a single Aberdeen hook. I also had a Rapala scale which stopped functioning after a few weeks of use. I received no response from their customer services, so I refused to buy their products ever again. You can’t trust a company, who have been shown to not support you when things go wrong.
@@seeitpickitbinit2510you see things much different then me I have been using them since the mid 1960 they worked well and they work very well now in 2020. That's more then I can say for most.
Victor Remick I should imagine different countries might vary in the fish’s lure preference, but Pike, Perch and Chub in the UK, tend to be less likely to take a Rapala. It’s not just their performance, I think that they are bad because they add to plastic pollution in our waterways and because they are too expensive for what they are. They are pretty though, haaa.
Congratulations! Im from Brazil and Rapala is my favorite lures. The best one in my region is the Shadow Rap and Rip Stop ,i use to fish Peacock bass.Keep up the good work!!!!!!!Thanks
Rapala lures have always been my favorite and #1 go-to lure for any fish and situation, both in Saltwater and Freshwater fishing since I was 7 years old.... I am now 45, and I still prefer Rapala lures over everything else.... there is nothing else out there that can match Rapala's style
Rapala the Greatest minnow style made lure ever made! I remember in the 60's when they first caught on in the upper Midwest, they didn't sell them they rented them and you had leave a $20.00 deposit and your drivers license! And fishermen still kept them!
Years ago I bought a freshwater Rapala lure out of a discount junk bin at a Walmart in Bentoville Arkansas for a dollar and sum. That freshwater lure turned out to be the best saltwater lure I ever had. That lure landed speckled seatrout shortly after hitting the waters off the pier on the Gulf of Mexico in Riviera TX. My youngest brother took the old lure out of my shed one day after asking me for some mono for his fishing rod and lost it due to not trying it properly. I was so upset and since then I have yet to find any lure as good as that one.
I never realized until now that I've been pronouncing Rapala wrong all these years, btw no mention of the fillet knives? Growing up that was a coming of age gift for every boy in the neighborhood!
Speaking about Rapala it means to speak about the history of fishing with lures, Rapala has been the first and every real fishermen should have a special place set aside for Rapala lures in own heart.
One of the most iconic fishing lures of all time. Mepps would be the other one. Thank You Rapala for the original floating f9 in Hot Steel, my last two PB Smallmouth have came to hand with that lure. I am searching for other models in that color now, please do not discontinue Hot Steel. Thank You
I've caught the most of my fish with Rapala pop here in Czech Republic. The fish love it, from small perchs up to medium sized pikes. Only Rapala for me, thanks guys!
Hey man this weekend my local tackle shop is doing a 2 for the price of 1 deal on Rapalas and im going for my 1st ever Rapalas, i fish for trout in rivers in Scotland, can you recommend a couple of diffirent types, i know about the countdown and UL minnows but not so sure about colours and patterns, thanks in advance 👍💙🎣 ✌💙👍 from Scotland 👋
Jointed Shad Rap are my all time fav. Crappie, Bass, Walleye, Pike, Muskie, even Cats. Most of the trout I've caught were on the jointed floater on a slow retrieve. Since I stopped using live bait these and twister tails are literally all I buy.
The best lures bar none. The CD 1 & 3 plus F3 will catch trout for me every outing , never ever have I blanked using these . Lakes and rivers here in Southern Ireland . CD range for deep water the Floating Originals for shallows , also taken Salmon on the tiny CD1 😂😂
Smithwick has less variety, but I'd argue their Rouge series is as good if not better than husky jerks/ similar Rapala lures. That is if they are still making them, tough to find Perfect 10s anymore.
It's so good to see a success history made of hard work. I love rapala cd Mag lures, they are quite expensive here in Brazil, but the performance compensates the price.
Great video great production work great information and thank you rapala. I just bought a hj10 silver tonight that I can't wait to use here in Western lower Michigan
I LOVED WATCHING THE VIDEO, RAPALA IS THE BEST LURE DESIGNS FOR MY FAVORITE FISH, THE WALLEYE'S, I ICE FISH, ALL YOUR ICE RIPPING RAPS, CATCH MONSTER WALLEYE'S, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO TO MAKE MY FISHING EXPERIENCE AWESOME THANKS 👍🇺🇸
I'm from northern California and many of the steelhead rivers are fished by people who drive their Porsche Cayenne hours from the San Francisco bay area to put on their $2500 fishing outfits and wave their $1500 fly rods around. So when I go down to the water with my spinning gear and I tie on a side planer with a Rapala Wiggle Wart and fish next to them they gasp as I take fish after fish while they try and nyph for hours not getting a bite. I once looked at the guy next to me and after he told me there is no better bait than a well presented fly, I explained to him that sometimes the fish aren't hungry for bugs, sometimes they're hungry like a pissed off cannibal. After a confused 1/2 hour of watching me pull in a fish in every 10 minutes or so he looked at the action of my Wiggle Wart and understood what I was saying. The steelhead don't care how you're dressed or what you spent on your gear.
@20:23. The Rapala DT lures are silent killers for Bass! I caught a nice little 17 inch Largemouth Bass on that EXACT SAME LURE (and color)! It was the Firetiger Rapala DT-14. (DT = Dives To)
Weird. I never used rapala til I snagged one while fishing and pulled it out of the water. Caught three fish that day on that rapala and went and bought some more.
I can always count on a Rapala to swim right right out of the package. I cant say that for any other lure. Not that l even bother to buy any other lures any more. I learned my lesson. It's worth the extra buck r two...
The Apple of My Eye. Bass usually go for a head shot first to ensure that the bait fish remains disorientated in the mouth of the Bass compared to be always orientated and ready to escape if the Bass gulps twice. The head of the lure should tell the Bass, 'This is the head, eat here first', which would be colored to keep the attention of the fish so that when the lure moves again, the Bass will strike. The eyes are also important because the eyes confirm that the Bass is indeed looking at the head of the bait. Each species of fish eye could possibly have color values that Bass can see and would home in on to make a strike. Basically the black pupil of the bait fish will get bigger or smaller based on available light that a Bass should be able to recognize very easily as being X type of fish. Just as important is the area around the pupil that might reflect light differently when the pupil is dilated which the Bass would use to further ensure it was not eating its own kind.
Just a little update: As of October 2023, the original Vääsky factory is no longer producing any lures in Finland with the production being moved to Pärnu Estonia, resulting in layoffs. The research and development and technical support facilities however, still remain in Finland.
