The fundamental duty cited in the beginning of the video about developing a scientific temperament and having a spirit of enquiry, is exactly what I often use as a defence to protect my freedom of speech from the so called offence of "blasphemy". This rule should be a fundamental human ethic irrespective of nationality or religion.

Okay, so he explains the relatively higher religiosity in India, which is a social phenomenon with deep rooted anthropological reasons and which is also a deeply scholarly topic, by just saying well the party in power is the reason. I think there are better arguments to be made against religion and its relation with science, but if he is our champion of rationalism and scientific temper, then good luck is all I can say.

What I don't understand is why can't religion and science co exist? The reason I say is because science can never give that emotional comfort which religion provides (I think it comes from belief) which can be used for one's advantage!!

Education is really important. In other countries where literacy rate is higher, not many people focus on religion. We need to learn to focus on our own individuality and growth instead of associating ourselves with a group and feeling good about ourselves

Teachers must try to fight the negative perceptions about math and science. The ideas that kept me away from science were thinbs like " I will never use it.", It's too difficult", and honestly I'm not sure how to combat this sort of mindset. I haven't had to factor a quadratic equation in real life yet. And classez like college algebra and calculss are extremely difficult, and not everybody can do it, unless you pay tutors which can be expensive.

An important distinction to make is between knowing a lot of scientific facts and being able to do good science. Most doctors and engineers are not trained to do science. They might know a bunch of scientific facts relevant to their field but that is not what the process of science is about. You can be very susceptible to pseudoscience as such because to you there is no distinction - science is just a collection of facts after all that you just believe. But people trained to do science (scientists) usually can understand more about the process of "doing" science and what makes an idea scientific vs pseudoscience. Usually becoming a scientist requires a lot more work for less pay than a doctor or an engineers, so I don't think that the sole reason those scientists seeked those answers from the Godman was because they were in science just for the money. I think it has more to do with them not questioning their beliefs enough and holding onto them from childhood to them getting their PhDs. Also the field of science you are in has a lot to do with how religious you are likely to be. Even an undergrad degree in physics was more than enough to make me scientifically tempered and start critically questioning whether every idea I am exposed to is scientific or not, but I would imagine if I learned to think of science as a collection of facts, I would be playing with Tarot cards and buying healing crystals right now. A huge part of it has to do with how much I love physics and care about science. I value the scientific method in itself as the best way we can know stuff about the universe we live in.

Science and Scientific temper are two different things. It is one thing to not have any knowledge of science, it is quite another to know how science, and by extension, almost everything in life ought to be approached.

I will not say religion but dharam .people who believe in their karma do not have to believe in god . Dharama gives you a way of escaping your current situation ,it's a theory of escapism ,where a person who use something to escape the current situation of there of life ,they are going through, which is good way rather than going for different addiction like mobile addiction ,drinking , cigarette and others bad thing which also provide people to escape world for temporary but they destroy there health.

Pranav saved me from religion.

Unfortunately, this wasn't one of the best talks from Pranav. He could have done better. If I was in that session and heard him for the first time I wouldn't be impressed. There was nothing that hooked me, this was more like a speech to introduce and market his work and get some more people to check out his content. He lacked flow while speaking. It was hard to listen through the entire 25 min clip because he spoke and processed his next word the same time. This issue isn't there on his youtube channel. He does a great job there.

Only thing I fear is extreme of any ideas. Be it religion, politics or Science. Also science and spirituality are totally different.

Yes, these science employees may it be Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, Professors and Teachers are all in their respective careers just for the heck of it because they have good salaried jobs, good position and social status.. .. Dharma means being righteous, not being a Hindu, Muslim or from any other community or religion. Not a single person from the so called communities are righteous now a days. So None of us are deserved to die as a religious being. Dharma is the way of living a life while science is the way of looking into that life with eyes open.
