Before Pretty Woman, Gere’s career had stagnated and had almost taken a nose dive. But he not only relaunched it with PW , but at same time he did Internal Affairs which was an excellent contrasting film about a bent copper. He played the nasty Dennis Peck, “ trust me I am a cop” brilliantly and he was back. many of of his films were not that good. He has got better with age. An underrated movie called Intersection is one that he himself feels was never given a chance as it was hacked to pieces in the cutting room, allegedly.
