Unless you are getting, or aspiring to be paid to ride I believe most cyclists will be better served by a psychologist than a trainer. Understanding your goals is primary. Most riders probably just want to feel respected in their local club and their "training" is probably the 3 times/week they do various club rides plus a few add-ons like indoor rides, swimming, running etc. I see the frustration even with successful racers who "fail" at riding disciplines outside of their sweet spot, like crit racers who get dropped offroad, uphill or suffer over distance, or guys who crush centuries but cannot win a club sprint to save their life. Understand your goals, have fun, be healthy.
