No game will ever be like Rogue Lineage was. It feels more like a social experiment than an actual video game, and despite being deeply flawed, it gave me some of the most fun and memorable experiences in my entire life, and, ironically, lead me to meeting chill, awesome people who I still hang out with to this day.
@@naruto9928 I mean sure but you could say that about most permadeath RPGs. Deepwoken and Rogue are both permadeath games where you get stronger as you progress, but both take that idea in completely opposite directions. I wouldn't call Deepwoken "Rogue but easier" because the game has so many different core mechanics, and at no point in the game are you forced to do PvP, which is the entirety of what made Rogue what it is. Sure, I'd say getting power 20 in Deepwoken is way, way easier than getting most Ultras in Rogue, but the two are so starkly different that it's hard to compare them.
This game genuinely gave me trust issues and PTSD even long after I quit, but man the random experiences and interactions that can be made in Rogue are some of the most unique and timeless things I've ever went through playing a game, and I'm thankful for it. This game introduced me to a huge friend group now that we still talk and hang out with YEARS later, and it's weird to think about how all of that came from him saying "Hey, what if I didn't grip this idiot in this maze... Hey buddy, wanna join our vc?" Unironically an incredibly flawed gem of a game, thanks Monad.
same lol, if i did not spare that one dude and did not add him on discord i probably would have given the game up sooner, got me in a house where i met lots of cool people
I've played since first month of release. Literally insane to think that's nearly 5 years ago. I can still remember early rogue so clearly. it actually completely revived my dying love for video games at the time. Wiped my first ever ultra, a Dinikari whisper, to the boats. They should add the boats back.
Rogue Lineage is still my favorite game in all of Roblox because it is such a spit in the face on conventional game design. Nothing is explained, new players suffer terribly, the game does not respect your time at all, etc. Yet I honestly believe those design choices honestly bolstered the terrifying, mysterious, and gratifying nature of the game to a level I have never seen in any game I've ever played. That fact that it was as big of a success as it was one of the biggest inspirations for me as a budding game developer that project made with love and fun can still do well. This video is great, thanks for rekindling my PTSD.
i started this game december 2023, on my first day of playing, i got picked up by a group of people and they took me in and boosted me. They are now my online best friends and a really fun friend group to overall hang out with.
I still can't get the sound of casting Fimbul out of my head, I've genuinely hallucinated the sound in random games before and just panicked, looking/running around while my friends are confused as hell.
hands down some of the best editing i’ve ever seen on a rogue lineage video, almost feels like a tutorial or advertisement for new players to try rogue and i love it
Thank you! Well I guess its kind of an advertisement as my assignment was to do a piece of non-fiction about games (in this case a review of rogue lineage). It was made for my teachers so yeah I had to try and explain it all from someone completely new!
Someone needed to document this enigma of a game that has captured so many. Definitely was a more significant portion of my life than I'd like to admit but Rogue has made me friends that I still talk to till this day, even years after the start of our "House". Thanks for making this video, great POV into what Rogue was really like.
I met some of my closest IRL friends on Rogue. I heard them speaking the same language I do and I went up to them. We met IRL and we still talk to this day. I love Rogue Lineage.
bro quite literally i almost failed 7th grade because of how addictive that shit was it's literally a drug. if i could go back i would've never touched that game dude. it was fun, but it was like crack for me. 0/10 was not worth the play i enjoyed the ride, but it wasn't worth it good thing colleges dont read yo middle school transcripts @@maxva_
Made some life long friends and bonds back in the peak of rogue in 2020 and all the way up till late 2022. Rogue was a big part of my life for and got me through a lot of Covid despite the games toxic community. I really enjoyed a lot of moments in the game even going through some of the roughest times with friends in the game, trying to find a safe with the whole house on 1-2 lives and the stupid 3am safe server vc sessions where we just talk about life and shit. It’s moments like those I remember the most and not really the pvp. I will cherish the moments I had with my friends in rogue since it was some of the funnest shit ever. Great video man . ❤
I feel like arch and a lot of the other devs learned from their mistakes from rogue when creating deepwoken as it still holds a very healthy playerbase.
Rogue is like an addictable poison the more you play the more painful it gets but the game is very addictive(Gotta like it when snarv fish shinobi shows up and one shot you)
Rogue shifted my entire opinion of gaming since playing it making it so a lot of non perma death games don't really give the same kick as it did. I made a lot of good and bad memories and met a lot of interesting people. Overall I can say I enjoyed the game for a good bit of time with how much replayability the game has and how fights never really get boring because of the perma death aspect.
I've never made it past basic class progression on this game. Yet despite all the anxiety and lack of skill I possess, it seemed fun. I cannot give more of an opinion because I will never be able to experience everything the game has to offer. Wish I could've played with friends.
@@dagenight4150im alright at rogue and got one ultra class in my life and i still have it its a druid tomeless i use assassins armour so i dont scare away freshies cus i pretend im progging with them for the fun of it Im not in a house either Game is crazy
People talking about Rouge Lineage have 2 sides. Either, they recount the most traumatic, ptsd inducing, trust issue giving, god awful experience they've had from other people decimating them, kidnapping them, doing nasty things to them, and being all around a horrible, horrible experience. Or, they recount how this game was such a gem, that they've met friends, reinvigorated their passion for interests and had unforgettable (good) experiences. The first convinced me to not drop 200 robux on this.
I will never be able to explain to someone how this roblox game actually changed the trajectory of my life (probably for the worse) and how people treated this game like it was real life.
I've been playing rogue since it released and I just love this game I even love the toxic community For 4 years rogue has been the game I've played the most out of any other game Just the feeling you get from beating the shit out of other people vice versa makes the game Very competitive in a way I like I really don't think there's going to be another experience like this I've also put around a thousand hours on Deepwoken but Its just not the same Although I would play any game Monad studio makes.
Still playing rogue lineage and gonna play cuz game really feels enjoyable than others. Good video that describes many things and at the same time not lasts for 20+ minutes.
Rogue feels like challenge compare to deepwoken because of the smaller map so ultra can grip you easier with illusionist is easier so you get the feel seeing people use their ultra skill you also want to use it
I will always love rogue unlike deepwoken since they seem to have forgotten what made rogue good in the first place, the difficulty. Every weekly update for deepwoken it seems like they are adding more and more quality of life updates and ways to make the game easier. I feel like if you remove too much of the grind from a game is there really an award waiting for you at the end?
drowned gods was made with love but after developing the game for like 2 years and clearly not sure how they actually wanted the game to play its pretty clear they lost sight of their original vision
it's because we've already experienced rogue. for people that havent played rogue or hasnt played much, deepwoken will be what rogue was for us and when the next big thing comes out they'll say the same thing, but for deepwoken
Rogue Lineage is inspiring me to make a game that encourages toxicity and slowly takes over the players lives. Im just curious on what would happen LMAO
Rogue lineage is just rogue lineage. The biggest inside joke off all time, I have some of the most bittersweet memories on this game, rogue taught me to learn how to control anger, how to lose things, and most importantly of all, roblox devs cant balance for shit.
wish rogue in some part didnt come into my life. i made very good friends but it made me very toxic and i didnt know how to behave but ive matured more along the time.
I think a part of why rogue was so amazing is because you literally had to learn to pay attention to everything, heard a dash? better look slightly in that direction just to be sure no one is running up. The map is also a masterclass, literally everything has a reason for existing for some specific mechanic, whereas in something like deepwoken, a lot of the islands are expansive, but there's no real reason for them existing besides giving you more choices where to progress. (this also has to do with deepwoken having no trinket system, so you don't actually ever have a reason to explore areas besides for the sake of it)
a lot of quests in deep require you to go explore many parts of the map for example the star kindered quest or oathless same as with shrines being in all different islands same as with loot being only in some places and with bosses like primadon being on the other side of the map. There are reasons to explore the deep map you just aren't looking for them
Rogue Lineage genuinely gave me trust issues, but despite its flaws and horrible community, it remains one of my top three favorite games on roblox. I still find myself going back to play it every now and then. Bard FTW!!!!!! After 3(going on 4) years of playing, I can truly say this has been a Rogue Lineage.
Castellan's mana charge is either beat or matched by other races, the extra scholar's boon is almost unnoticeable and the extra snap slot really is not that appealing considering there are races that litterally get to dodge moves for free 🤑
Why is Arch Mage using a TTS? His voice isn’t a secret, I’m pretty sure he even has a joke video on his youtube channel (the only video he’s ever made) where he uses his voice.
joined 2021 and not 2019? You missed out on one of the best gaming experiences of all time, early rogue where everything was difficult to obtain & nobody knew where and how to progress was actually peak
Idk if I’m the only person but as somone who has found deepwoken before rouge lineage I bought the game after going on a deepwoken hiatus for abit I know rouge does some things better than deepwoken but I just can’t push myself to play rouge when deepwoken is available like I’d just rather play deepwoken the rouge
@@sobero274 did you start playing it after u got bored of deepwoken or when you were still discovering new things? Bcuz I gave rouge a try before I even touched layer 2 or made a max build
@@sobero274 yeah that’s probably the biggest difference if I one day get w rank 100% the game get good enough at pvp I don’t have much fun anymore rouge is definatly on my list of to get into next it’s just so hard to get into with how hard the progression is to follow without guides
reasons why I didn't have fun on those games: no friends bad client/wifi it's a fun game nonetheless but ive been playing it less since a ping spike and all my stuff's gone
i didnt ask for subs as y'know its a school project but funnily enough that actually matters 💀my other video with 30k less views gave me almost double subs because I asked for them
this video would be good like 2 yrs ago this is the best roblox game imo nobody can replicate but after playing it for so many yrs the novelty only lasts so long
i wish i could replay rogue from its prime, nowedays i kind of feel like the only people who play it is the people who are very dedicated and good at the game meaning i'd stand no chance in pvp in the game lol, not like I was ever good at the game anyway. I'd always get my ultra then have an intense fear of losing it to people with godspells and stuff and i wouldnt know what I should do to catch up with them.
Hey! Im a player that plays deepwoken and I dont know if i should buy rouge thats wh yi came to your video please answer and tell me if i should buy it.
Yeah, it's mostly just ultras who run around ganking nowadays. It harder to solo progress now than ever, and most people just farm alts for their classes. There is still fun to be had in the game, but I wouldn't recommend going into it today unless you can get at least two other people to buy and play the game with you.
It's almost impossible without alts or without joining a house today, 99% of the servers are dominated by a house where a illusionist will dox you and in seconds after joining the server a random ultra will appear to kill you, I usually spent 1 hour to find a server that seems safe and it's common that it's not actually safe, also kinda depends on which hour you're playing, morning(6:00-9:00) and night(00:00-5:00) tends to be the safest times, I'm saying that based in Brasilia timezone, I don't know in the rest of this world.
I cant get into it because i cant find any guides (i suck at navigating open world games but im kinda aight at pvp) so i cant figure iut where to go until i get my progress reset. Its not that im mad about wiping, its just idk how to get stronger lol
