How Route 66 Compares with Disney's Cars Land

Cars Land is based on the historic Route 66 highway that went from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. This highway was the main route for people making the move west and is still a popular drive today. I drove Route 66 with my dad and figured it would be fun to go to Disney's Cars Land and see how the two compared. Here is what I found and you can read more about the connections at the below links.

I think the leaning tower with tires at Luigi's is based on the leaning tower of Pisa. Since Luigi is from Italy, that link is easier to make IMHO.

I think it's combination of both. To reference the route 66 leaning tower being that's Luigi current home and leaning tower of Piza for he was originally from Italy.

It is based on the leaning tower of Pisa because Luigi and Quido are both Italian and also the neon lights on their shop are Green, White and Red which are the colors of the Italian flag.

Cars is my favorite Pixar movie of all time! It was great to see it in this extremely well done video. I was wondering if there is a correlation between Luigi's Casa Della tires and the Barstow Harvey House Casa Del Desierto. What do you think? Cars land looks amazing, thanks for sharing the comparisons.

Flows looks like the little 50s style Cafe at the west side of Williams Arizona. And the leaning Tower at Luigi's come on there Italian. You didn't get that? The leaning Tower of Pisa always reminded me of a stack of tires.

1:23 what's wierd is that the wigwam motel rooms are tipis (cone shaped mobile homes for plains people) but wigwams are actually round domes made of wood and are used by native peoples that live in the forest

I love Disneyland, we live about 20 min south of the park, we're passholders, go 3-4 times a week..... etc, etc. Being closed sucks, but the magic is gone anyway. DTD is open, but its not worth it (IMO) up to an HR to just get into the parking lot, than another 2 hrs or so to get into DTD. Just not worth it to me anyway. I'll wait until it reopens with no regulations and is actually back to normal. If you choose to go, please enjoy!!
