Exactly, Russia keeps bringing up colonialism with regards to west. But completely gloss over their own Empire and Soviet oppression of local population.

It was obviously politically inappropriate to say red army or red nation, so it became yellow in military drills. 😅 Obviously everyone in the country knew who we are training against because the only country that could threaten us is Russia.
@@IceP67 Yes, the Russians really don´t "hate" their neighbours. They don´t care about them. They want the land, and if the people on that land all die, it doesn´t matter to them, as long as they get the land.
Stay strong and give no quarter Baltic Bros! Ruzzians will use any chance to mess with their old "colonies", which Putin seems to be longing to restore with Ukraine being the first step. It is wrong to assume that mighty Russia can easily dismantle such border defenses. Russia is not as mighty as it pretends to be, while the people of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania must remember that the Russian bear, mighty or not, is always scheming to grab what does not belong to him.
Keep living in fairy tail, it takes a couple of 3 t bombs to create a path, these defence lines work only against broke countries with no army like Ukraine who can survive only with help from outside.
"The people.... must remember" do you think they live on the Moon or something? They knew that before you were born, and now know it hundred times better than you do.
Yea then why there was news some long time ago, that in german army there are people who symphatises russia policy and as country. Dont say it its like oh big happy europe union family who are all against Russsia.
I no longer reply to the Russian bots as I heard they get paid per response, good or bad. I simply report their comment to RU-vid. If enough reports come in, that account is deleted nd Ivan loses. his commission. As if the lying deadbeat Russian gov't woudl ever pay what they promise!
As a centrist I used to support Ukraine, but after experiencing the degeneracy, the wokeness, the blatant hatred towards the Russians and the right I changed my mind and voting Trump!
The thing about Russia is- they keep taking lands from their neighbors, slowly but surely. They'll even wait patiently for decades or centuries, but eventually they'll grab lands from the neighborhood slowly. The recent modern land-grabbing venture is done through 10+ years span, they took from Georgia then Ukraine. Several decades before, they took land from China at the end of WWII, then from Finland. Russia is playing the long game.
Couldn't agree more!! Bizarre caveat: 🇷🇺 inhabits/occupies/utilizes/exploits resources of less than half of their own land.. The LARGEST country on 🌏?! Parts in use: sparsely populated?! Still endlessly trying to chip away from others?! [all very similar for 🇨🇳] 2024 technology can make more land arable. Rapidly thawing cold areas. Untapped resources galore. It's so bizarre.. Very obviously NOT about land! Intimidation, fear mongering, 'power' moves & shows of 'superiority' are the name of the game [🇷🇺+🇨🇳 alike]. All the time/energy/resources wasted on such nonsense = SO much more beneficial, lucrative, sustainable, etc if invested in their OWN lands & people! Like naughty juveniles forever oblivious that negative attention doesn't bring rewards of positive/affirming attention?!
All these countries just want to live in peace and have happy lives. Unfortunately they live next to a much larger neighbor that's trying to do their best 1933-1945 Germany impression.
Most Baltic states: We are taking steps to slow any Russian advance until NATO has a chance to re-enforce us. Poland: We are taking steps to have a foot race with the rest of NATO in case war breaks out with Russia. First one to Moscow wins.
@@claus-not-santa No…well their military wants to. But overall no. (If Belarus gets more involved and invades Ukraine from the north we’ll see what happens). But my comment was more of a joke that while the Baltic states are beefing up their defenses in case of a war with Russia, Poland on the other hand is buying so much weaponry that the US had to refuse contracts and give them to South Korea. Thousands of tanks, HIMARS, armored vehicles , and plans to expand their military by hundreds of thousands. If Russia ever tries to attack Poland, it won’t be a race to defend them (like it would in the rest of the Baltics save for Finland) it’d be a race to get to Moscow first and stop the Poles from burning it to the ground. P.S. Before anyone makes a nuke comment…that’s why it’s called a joke.
@@deividasnavickasthey fail to intercept drones in their airspace. Lol .... i honestly doubt the poles would want to fight, when you are wealthy you wouldnt want a war
@@antony6799 Russians must stop comparing Russia to USA all the time. USA is a super power. Russia is a gas station which can not stand its glory is over and its empire is gone.
I know that the Estonians thought about placing anti-infantry mines to the bunkers at the border but then reconsidered, thinking that it would be seen as aggressive
I think this defence is imperative . Russia thinks everything belongs to them and that they can just walk in and take whatever country they like. I don’t think there has to be a valid reason just their sense of self importance. No other country is terrified of Russia, just protective from a neighbouring predator.
It is not useless, anything that slow down or make costly for Russia to take the Baltics is helpful, the issue is the Baltics cannot take Russian alone, but if the idea of taking the baltic is make REALLY expensive, then Russian would think it twice, and it would give them time for Poland, Germany, Denmark and the North Baltics to counter attack.
@rene280195 It is useless because first strike weapons when it comes to war with NATO won't be tanks. Mushroom clouds don't generally care about tranches and dragons' teeth. Which is also the reason why Russia would not attack nor would NATO hopefully. Although with how much stupidity I see in the west right now, it might happen.
It's very useless because a war with NATO will be fought with first strike weapons. For Baltic states like Latvia It's about 2 nukes each and no more Baltic states. So yeah useless!
It's useless with dragonsteeth alone, but if you combine that with other defense it's not. Otherwise you can just bulldoze a path through at some points and go through. It has to be followed up by real defense too ofc.
@@trevorsutherland5263 Why would they change anything? They pay people to go to army, while Ukraine literally catches men like animals on streets and throws them into meat grinder and calls it patriotic war. Currectly RU pays like 20.000-30.000 $ depending on city only just for signing contract. While ukrainians are sent and become handicapped with no payments afterwards. If regular RU army soldier loses his feet ar war, he gets money from government as well and if he can still serve for example in HQ, they can still offer a job.
@Xover112 No, only Russia treats it's soldiers like animals, with their generals sending soldiers to their certain deaths in meat waves, completely disregarding human life. In Russian army, you are just a number.
Germany was occupied by Russia as well, what is he talking about?? What is true, is that the baltic states are in more immediate danger because they are geographically closer to Russia.
Ukraine has shown that fortifications work very well, but they have to be manned. The main job will be to slowd down an invading force until NATO can mobilise
Actually war of Russia against its neighbours started in 2008. The real turning point was Putins' speach in Munich. But the agression was bruwing inside Russia from the very disolution of UdSSR
Not only Putin. Every Russian ruler, all Russian government apparatus and most of the Russian population feel entitled to invade the neighbourhood. Normal Russian-speaking people in other countries feel offended when they speak in Russian and people don't answer in Russian. Take out Putin and the same mentality will still remain.
2:20 haha last two people who are against the border strengthening had a very thick russian accent. I wonder, why they think, that russia is a friend and would never attack.. where have they heard that :D
They ARE doing that. It just wasn't included in this report. Lithuania is developing their own mines, Latvia is preparing the legislation to draft some women, etc.
I don't know where he lives or to whom he spoke. I don't like this condescending view of Latvia from Germany. Like from above. Germany is the one who invested in Russian gas for years and now their economic growth is weakest in g7 Also, I don't know who he picked up from the street, even Russians in LV whom I know, are very very pro-Ukraine and anti Russia. I would say it's lukewarm to say that we don't think of the war daily. We do as much as we can. Our population is highly mobilized in support of Ukraine. Right now I'm in dormitories in Latvia for few days. And they have whole floors dedicated for ukrainian families. Maybe 2% of population would answer there question by saying that the defences are useless. If Europe doesn't step up West Europe will be next. Russia has the manpower (and lots of people willing to die), they have advanced military supply chain, while their weapons often are not as good as western weapons, they put everything they have in army. Right now West is paying in money, Ukrainians with their life's. The calculation will be much different when west will have to sent their own young men to die and experience strikes on children's hospitals(intended to force relocation of air defence batteries from military targets to civilians.). Wake up.
But only poland and lithuania have defence plan wich working between two cauntrys and making trainings if russia atack poland or lithuania neede make same between all baltics and scandinavian
Why would Russia invade, it would be the end of Russian regime as we know it as the Baltics are in NATO. Arguably building metal fences is a waste of time to slow an army but very good at stopping immigration which is likely the real reason.
if you look at this territories, estonia, latvia, lithuania before 1918 there wasnt any of countries. And people lives from that time many 100 and 100 years by geramans in livonia time then sweden and pole times, and Then russia 300 years, and somehow people survived and lived in those times.
@@purpplekushh well latvia in that time was, as word latvia didnt exsisted, it was only under livonia by germans then later, grand dutch of kurland who was rulled by holland dynasty jacob, and other part of latvia in that time was under russia rule, and latgalia who was under polish common wealth terriotry, dont tell like latvia, estonia or lithuania existed like 1000 years.
The best defense is a good offense. Some gates and dragon's teeth are fine as long as they don't get to complicated and expensive to run. The main thrust of defense strategy should be weapons, ammunition, offensive training, deep strike capability, and so forth.
Due to the potential size of their army’s being so small, they would do well to invest in remotely controlled weapons that could be placed along the borders to minimize casualties while maximizing defense.
Do you seriously think their armies and ministries of defence are as inept as not to take that into account? In the areas where it's relevant - like the previous comment says, there's a lot of swamps. Kasčiūnas, Sprūds and Pevkur are sharp, capable people, not some old fogies who don't know what they're doing.
The boy has combat experience? RPG-7 is worse than "Javelin", but it was from RPG-7 that 15 Ukrainian soldiers shot at a column of Russian military equipment in March 2022 - over 17 units were destroyed in thirty minutes. "Dragon's teeth" are the simplest means of stopping armored vehicles + anti-tank mines.
Go on strengthening the defense capabilities, but what's the point? " Soviet occupation" with the developed industry and science, theatre and culture facilitated to achieve serious achievements in the Baltic countries. now they call it atrocities. At present everything has collapsed, along with the standard of living. Some examples. Lithuania's public debt in 2022 is 39.6% of GDPAs of 2023, 20.6% of Lithuania's population lived in relative poverty, and 6.5% lived in absolute poverty. In 2023, a person was considered to live in relative poverty if his/her monthly disposable income was below 564 euros, and in absolute poverty - less than 354 euros The economy of the Lithuanian SSR, due to its geographical location and some cultural and historical factors, was quite heavily dependent on the general Soviet economy, and more so because it suffered from the popularity of the USSR than the economies of the two Baltic states: Latvia and Estonia. These are the facts.
Obviously, warfare is now dependent on drones. I would be focusing on mobile small scale radar systems with small guided missile drone killers and various attack drones manufactured in large quantities.
With Finland and Sweden joining NATO (Baltic) community I think the Baltics will have an even quicker response and backup if anything happens. But everything is ofc hanging with Ukraine... But I'm pretty confident if Ukraine looks like it's really loosing (really sad, we (Europe/Scandinavia) should do much more for Ukraine... I know the Baltic countries does more then pretty much every other country per capita for Ukraine and the rest (Europe) should follow their lead...). But again if Ukraine can not handle it my guess there is going to be a war between Europe and Russia... And China can decide if it is going to be world war or not...
