When you have almost nothing it is easy to see what you have, what you NEED, and to be grateful for it. When you have more than enough, you cannot see what you need, you only see what you desire, and be bitter for it's absence. The truth however is that she has an opportunity that more wealthy people turn away from. Her struggles, her suffering, is all worth it because it benefits her family. Instead more wealthy women are taught to sacrifice family for career, even that they have no rights of they cannot terminate "unplanned" family members. hope for the future, particularly for the future of your family members is often overlooked.

That's not true, there is no wide superstition in Indonesia about widows being bad luck, the reasons why widows in Indonesia find it difficult to find jobs especially those coming from low income families are the lack of skills. It's common for lower income families to ignore education especially those of the older generation. It's common for women to have a mindset that they don't need higher education because they can rely on their husbands, but this is slowly changing. Jakarta itself has massive problems in every aspect. The government should provide training, make business loans on a small scale easier and accessible and regulate immigration in Jakarta. Edit: about the widows being bad luck in Indonesia, there are stigmas about widows and divorcees that are ridiculous. But widows not being accepted in terms of productivity is not one of them, I've been living in many areas in major islands and some smaller islands in Indonesia, really truly living not just visiting and never once have I seen one. In many places widows are being prioritized and empowered. To have that in Jakarta is difficult due to extreme competitions, uncontrolled suburb or rural development, unmanaged migration, like I said Jakarta has massive problems in every aspect, this is just one of them, the superstition that widows are bad luck might exist, but that is not the problem, especially in Jakarta.

You would think that her sons would be able to support themselves and their children, as they would be young and presumably fit and able. Or their wives - don't they work? They're young and don't have the stigma of being widows so it should bw far easier for them to find some kind of work. Far from it, this video shows how ungrateful we should be, we should always stand for our self's and never let somebody exploit you! Sure we are working office jobs from 9-5 but somebody is making the same amount as we are off of our labour! You feed a selfish boss, greedy owners, and a never ending money pit of a country's public sector. And for most states it will only get worse... Though I do think capitalism brought us most of our wealth/better working conditions, I do think it needs heavy regulation in order for it to work. And lets be honest, public sector employees should loose their right to vote if we want to prosper again (either work for the state and loose the right to vote of work in the private sector and keep your voting right - so nothing is forced here and you can always get your voting licence back). This applies for the vast majority of blue and white collar workers in the private sector in most states of the developed world!

Widow are stigmatized and sometimes sexualized in Indonesia, in music for example, there's many songs where the lyrics are about comparing them to virgin women and such, this is just another symptoms of patriarchal society, but widows are not denied for jobs just because their status in Indonesia, even sometimes business owner preferred them over young women because they have less tendency to quit jobs and their dedication is much higher than youngsters... Widow can remarry and have any job as they please in Indonesia. The superstitions, I never heard about. Thank God is not true, in Jakarta or other place in Indonesia.

Is there a website or something that we could donate directly towards the people who is featured on your videos? I'd really like to help out a bit😢

Your good will is enough bro, be careful there is a lot of scammer asking for donation in my country and the government already help them.

Nope. Business Insider doesn't pay for interviews and never gives shout outs or ways for people to help. They take what they can to make a video and leave the subjects of their videos without even a tip.

@@aizat27 obviously they dont pay, no legitimate journalist pays for stories or pays people for interviews. Then they have no integrity. The interviewee has an incentive to say something interesting or unique in order to be interviewed more or paid again. Journalists document they do not interfere. That is for NGO's, governments, etc

Give shelter, warmth, and sustenance to a naked, starving, cold person, and they will surely be grateful. What perspective does this give to someone who has their basic needs met?
