So happy to see you review the Higher Dose sauna blanket. I bought one 2 years ago to use while I saved up to build an infrared sauna. It is a game changer for vitality. I regularly use it 2-3 x per week and just started following it up with a cold plunge in my bath tub. Never thought I could do that. It takes some time and nerve to work up to it but BELIEVE me now I crave my cold plunge. If you’re feeling down or sluggish or tired, cold therapy creates a delightful euphoria that is hard to describe. I liken it to how I used to feel as a kid after swimming-refreshed, revitalized and ready for anything!! I really love all the great topics you cover-thank you for your dedication, I really respect your opinions and research.

As mentioned, lots of research about heat and heat shock proteins, see Rhonda Patrick and Huberman. I use multiple times p/w after gym. Also cold showers when it fits routine (generally not when muscle building as it may inhibit that). BTW, multiple sauna on same day boosts human growth hormone which aids muscle recovery, etc. but not sure if that's a definitively a good thing.

Thanks for sharing this. I've just joined a gym that also has a sauna so I'm planning to use that a few times a week in addition to the blanket.

I am so tempted to purchase a blanket like this for months. I can imagine how comforting and soothing it is to be wrapped up in this. But I do have a concern about it drying up the skin. I am not sure how it slows down ageing. Even when I use a hot moist towel on my face, it dries up my face for days and I have to really replenish moisture using a lot of moisturiser. I wonder about this blanket as it uses dry heat, right? Just like an electric blanket that can be really drying for our body. Wonder if you have any comment to this. :)
@thehonestchannel

It's definitely comforting. I've only been using it for a month but I can't say I've noticed dry skin. I make sure to pre-hydrate and rehydrate which helps too.

I had a massive problem with Mycotox issues and found the infrared blanket made me feel awful. I worked with a functional medicine practitioner and used 3 products from Beyond Balance (in addition to a charcoal product) and it finally resolved.

@kcam3683 9 месяцев назад
@@amandafrancis9168 there were 3 that needed to be taken in a very precise way. I felt awful on the days when the dose was increased and that took a while. I was really sceptical at first, but believe it all worked! I don’t know what your background is, but if you do try the beyond balance protocol I’d suggest stopping everything else during that time except glutathione and vitamin C as there might be a clash or duplication. I used Great Plains for the Mycotox testing, think they might have rebranded to mosaic dx, and you send off a frozen urine sample to America.

Compelling science. I even bought my red light panel to withstand sauna heat. Win win I think Huberman and Patrick cite these studies are traditional high heat saunas, not infrared but use what you’ve got ! happy Sunday Clare ❤

Hi Clare, I tried an infra red blanket a few years ago and only a few minutes on it made me feel aching and flu like. I tried repeatedly but always had the same result. Any ideas why? Is it something like the Herx reaction due to a release of toxins or chemicals? Fortunately it had a return policy so I could get a refund, it was expensive.
@thehonestchannel
@thehonestchannel 9 месяцев назад
Oooh, that's interesting. I'm not sure why that might be. Do you feel the same in a traditional sauna? Just poking around online I see this is not an uncommon response to sauna therapy.

@kcam3683
@kcam3683 9 месяцев назад
@@skylarc8859actually, not a bad suggestion. I did some work with a functional medicine practitioner after a while (2020-22) and when not responding to all we’d tried, we did some Mycotox screening and it did show mould colonising my body. I think the blanket I used was possibly just before this and part of the initial treatment suggestion. The mould was Aspergillus but mainly Stachybotrys Roridin E (black mould on walls etc) and mycophenolic acid (penicillin type). I’d had a water leak above my bedroom in a previous house that was fixed then reoccurred. But I’d moved into a new build and a few months later the roof started leaking but I didn’t find out for a while, finally it was sorted and then I did a loft conversion. Anyway, did a round of Beyond Balance Mycotox protocol and it seems to do the trick, which really surprised me. I still think there’s something lingering but will test again. It’s scary how some of us are affected by all types of mould.

Does it work to move to somewhere with a warmer climate?
@thehonestchannel
@thehonestchannel 9 месяцев назад
That's an interesting question and I guess if you're sitting in similar temperatures to a traditional sauna the effect would be the same because it's the action of intense heat on the body. You'd just need to cover up well!

Yes, I touch on safety in the video as it is also a concern for me. This blanket is low EMF which is thought to be safe for humans but, as with so many new technologies, we're not quite sure how much and how often is entirely safe so I'm trying to be cautious.

Hello Clare, I hope you are well. Thank you for all of the content you share with us. I’ve been following you for years and bought Calecim multi-action cream based on your recommendation. Unfortunately there was no sample in the delivery, so I used a pea-sized portion behind my ear. Unfortunately, I had a reaction. The company are refusing to give me a refund. I feel this is unfair trading, especially with a first-time customer. I can’t afford to lose £140 and have a jar of cream that I can’t use. Could you help please? Did the company make you aware of their brutal refund policy? I’m sure they did not. Kind regards, Deborah

I was under the impression that heat shock therapy was falling out of favor in medical communities, and in recent years they've discovered some negative effects to sauna use and cold plunges? I hope not because I really loved using my gym sauna! Although it did tend to flare up my melasma as heat can often do
@thehonestchannel

It's very much featuring in the recommendations from some of the better-known preventative medicine specialists, including Dr Mark Hyman who I spoke about the other week. There is so rarely total agreement in this field, but from what I've seen the weight of evidence appears to be in its favor.

@thehonestchannel
@thehonestchannel 8 месяцев назад
They've mainly been tested in traditional saunas but it is thought to be the action of heating our bodies to produce a heat response and those all important heat shock proteins that is key to the benefits. Infrared heats the body directly to do that (rather than the surrounding air) so doesn't need to reach the same temperature.
