First hearing Dillions last screams off in the distance, and then hearing Billy’s last yells further off in the distance was far more effective than actually seeing his death. Very chilling scene indeed.
His body was the focus of the trophy scene as well. With the casual kicking of the body to the jungle floor saying volumes of what the Predator thought of him, at least when compared to Arnold later on?
Additionally, 2022's Prey was based on the Director also wanting to see Billy's fight with the Predator resulting in a movie entirely consisting of Native American characters fighting the Predator. So if Sonny and Arnold never pushed for the scene, we would have never gotten Prey.
So I always felt only hearing the scream was far more terrifying because of how bad ass be was. Your imagination runs away. However I love the fight scene in Predators with the Japanese dude. Which I thought was based off this character from the original.
Landham may have been disappointed, but the movie was better off without that "scene." Here is why... Had they (shot and) included that scene and Landham's character put up a good fight, that would have diminished Schwarzenegger's character and the weight of the fight scene later in the movie. Had he not put up a good fight and the been no contest for the Predator, that would've of diminished the character arc of Billy and his sacrifice (to slow down the Predator).
It definitely made me feel proud of him and his people when I was a kid, it was a very"WARRIOR" and "SELFLESS", Noble thing to do, I think he got his point across well... IMO 🤟🏻
Sometimes your IMAGINATION of what might have happened is more impactful than seeing what actually happened. Despite whatever you imagined to have happened, you wouldn’t be right or wrong. The scene ends up being more powerful because it was up to you to determine what happened. I’m glad they went the direction that they ultimately went.
Seriously the scene of him slicing himself open to invite the Predator for a face to face is so hardcore. This whole movie is amazing, all of them did a great job, so bad ass.
Well that loud scream that he makes when he's getting killed off screen tells me that the Predator took his blade and rammed it up Billy's stomach all the way to his neck
Billy is a great member of the team. Would have been interesting to see a fight between Billy and the Predator. Extended version would be great for this film. Agreed with other commenter.🤫✌️🇭🇲
Thing with predator that seemed off for me was that the predator kills the whole team easily then disarms cause he felt Arnold was some worthy opponent. A change I thought would be interesting is over the course of the movie the predator would have took some damage being weakened up by the end with the fight with Arnold. Like the part with dillions arm gets blown off thought of the idea Dillon’s bullets hit the predator’s weapon rendering it busted simultaneously.
It's a shame because that movie left the actual predator in suspense and the main focus was more on the characters and the mission. In fact, they may as well have left the predator out of the movie and called it. GET TO THE CHOPPER.
I can confirm the disappointment. My father let us watch this movie in the early to mid 90’s when it played on t.v. because it would obviously be censored to the point where it would be ok for us. Not to mention that it isn’t as gorey as Mortal Kombat on arcade, lol. But when they didn’t show the fight between Billy and the Predator, I was disappointed, and longed for the day where my father would rent the movie so I could see everything they removed for t.v. Talk about the ultimate disappointment when it turned out that they removed nothing for t.v. and there truly isn’t a fight between Billy and the Predator. Why?
It was better you didn’t see it. It’s left to the viewer to come up with it. Which is better sometimes. Judging by what happens to him it didn’t go well. I always thought it was a pretty dumb place to be to make a last stand. You can’t exactly fight something very well standing on a broken tree log hanging across a ravine. Still, it’s an awesome sequence.
The Predator comes up behind him. It's implied he just gets those blades straight in his back and dies pretty close to instantly. There was no "fight".
Predator problem just stomp kicked him off the fallen tree King Leonidas 300 style giving us the Billy scream, not even allowing Billy to wack hiss big knifie around.
