Navy vet here. i remember exactly where i was the day Kabul fell, i was in my barracks room in WA state. i had been keeping tabs on the situation, our withdrawal, how the Taliban was gaining more ground. i remember one night i checked the news, and saw the Taliban had taken Kabul and had reestablished the Islamic emirate. i was beyond flabbergasted, thousands of lives lost,. trillions of dollars wasted. i was thinking what would the ship i was stationed on have to say about it the next day. i go to the ship and this is what they said, nothing, absolutely nothing.
these comments are so lame. it’s so interesting yet scary to know that the public’s mistrust of the government is shared with the same people who actively fought/fight for it. i hope you’re doing good
@@phillipmanzon5166 How sad. I can only believe they said nothing because everyone knew what a failure that entire endeavor was - from beginning to end. What could they say? As a flight attendant I saw and transported hundreds of soldiers during that time. My mission was to give a “Mom Hug” to every soldier who wanted one. My heart was breaking for all of them.
They sign up for the money. The military is one of the few remaining ways someone in poverty can enter the middle class without acquiring house-sized levels of debt. Soldiers risk their lives, limbs and sanity, and yes, need to do the violent bidding of their governments, but that’s the world we live in.
@@jewsaregenocidalhoressigned up for ? or forced to by a draft by there government and if they wouldn’t have went they would have been arrested? when the governments start war our only choice as citizens is to trust our government and believe were doing good and go and fight like there forcing you or go sit in prison for who knows how long cuz you didn’t go
This is why I’d rather stay in my country and live life too it’s fullest rather then leave my family behind and risk my life for something pointless. I honestly don’t get why these “heroes” do that and everyone’s like thank you for your service.
They do it so you CAN choose to stay home, live your life and be comfy and also so you can write things like this on the internet without fear of someone killing you and your entire family. We say " thank you for your service" because it takes a whole lot of guts to sign up for the military, knowing that you may never come home.
War is worse than hell, in hell only the guilty suffer. in war everyone suffers and the guilty profit the soldiers and innocents suffer and everyone is forced to be complicit
@@mallarieluvsgirls yeah some, there Is cops or firefighters go in the wrong reasons too, but I'm staying like drafted men. I know in America enlisted soldiers sign up for a livable wage and better opportunity to live but I'm staying like how a lot of places in the world were you have no choice but to be drafted
It was actually British intelligence who found him but our goverment wouldn't sanction action so we passed the intelligence to the USA and they did what they do and got it sorted apparently. Who knows?
It may have started because of terrorist and oil, but the pentagon was lead by the military industrial complex. These people did not want to end the war. Too much money was being made by defense contractors. It also worked well to leave most of our military equipment behind, so that the contractors can make more equipment.
I feel bad for this guy and everyone else who got duped into thinking they were defending their country and fighting terrorism and evil. You cannot bomb away terrorism and you cannot bomb yourself a safe, stable and friendly country (take notes Israel).
@@Francisco-b3n3q Israel are the only ones bombing Palestinians (if you don't count Hamas misfires). But otherwise you're 100% correct, too many warmongers exist in this world.
I had to research how many British solders went to Afghanistan, I dont remember seeing that many when I was there. I do remember seeing endless poppy fields when i was there, not too many oil refineries however, but thats just me.
Yes its all about oil, in a country that doesnt produce much oil. Afghanistan is the number one opium producer and the western world suffered from an opioid crisis during that time.
Yes. But that's never been a problem for the US. the poor people farm the opium, sell it to warlords, who sell it to the CIA that brings it to Europe to sell.
@@CM-pn4mf”However, in December of last year, Bloomberg reported that China's Central Asia Petroleum and Gas Co. had tripled its crude oil production in Afghanistan.Jun 9, 2024”
@@CM-pn4mf Opium production in Afghanistan reached record heights during the war on terror. Like we are talking hundreds of thousands hectares of new poppy fields. By 2006 Afghanistan was the source of 86% of ALL the world’s opium.
You'd be surprised, the area in Afghanistan around Tajikstan does indeed have oil. But it's the worst place to go to try and get it and makes absolutely no fucking sense.
Opium and rare earth materials, also they wanted to control and focus the flow of heroin into Russia and adjacent countries giving substantial aid to local warlords to traffic into Russia as a form of Narco espionage vice did a huge documentary about it a few years ago but many reasons, prop up the defense infrastructure("gonna build explosives they gotta blow up somewhere.")
maybe not oil, but Afghanistan has some of the richest mineral deposits in the world. Mining in Afghanistan was controlled by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, prior to the August 15th takeover by the Taliban. It is headquartered in Kabul with regional offices in other parts of the country. Afghanistan has over 1,400 mineral fields,[1][2][3] containing barite, chromite, coal, copper, gold, iron ore, lead, natural gas, petroleum, precious and semi-precious stones, salt, sulfur, lithium, talc, and zinc, among many other minerals.[1][4][5] Gemstones include high-quality emeralds, lapis lazuli, red garnet and ruby. According to a joint study by The Pentagon and the United States Geological Survey, Afghanistan has an estimated US$1 trillion[6] of untapped minerals. wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining_in_Afghanistan#:~:text=It%20is%20headquartered%20in%20Kabul,zinc%2C%20among%20many%20other%20minerals.
@@CM-pn4mf there are oil and gas reserves in Afghanistan. The country has been known to have various mineral resources, including hydrocarbons. The US Geological Survey (USGS) and the Afghan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum have conducted surveys indicating significant quantities of oil and natural gas in several regions. Key points about Afghanistan's oil and gas reserves include: Amu Darya Basin: This area in northern Afghanistan has been identified as having significant oil and gas potential. Several oil fields have been discovered here, including the Angot, Kashkari, and Bazarkhami fields. Afghan-Tajik Basin: Also in northern Afghanistan, this basin is considered to have substantial hydrocarbon resources. Helmand Basin: In southern Afghanistan, this region has potential oil and gas reserves, although it is less explored compared to the northern basins. Estimates: According to USGS estimates, Afghanistan may have approximately 1.6 billion barrels of crude oil, 16 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 500 million barrels of natural gas liquids. However, despite these resources, the extraction and development of Afghanistan's oil and gas industry face significant challenges, including political instability, security concerns, lack of infrastructure, and technical expertise. These factors have made it difficult to fully exploit the country's hydrocarbon potential.
Well you see the Left doesn't want to admit that America is a liberal empire spreading feminism all around the globe so they come up with ridiculous arguments.

There are some very important pipelines, från asia to europe, stop those one, the alot of less oil to european/african market. so "oil" is correct enough. I was a soldier in th same war, no pipelines in mine area, beside a small part, those area did get some extra attention from private security and we regular soldiers from all over the world.
You were there for the poppy fields. The West needs their opium. Why else would the Taliban burn all those fields as soon as they took over in 2021? Afghanistan is tired of being your slaves in the drug trade.
15 of the 19 terrorists on 9/11 and Osama bin Laden were from Saudi Arabia so Republicans invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Trump and the GOP rewarded Saudi Arabia with nuclear secrets, weapons technology and weapons to commit war crimes in Yemen. Trump even trained a Saudi terrorist at NAS Pensacola! We will not forget? Remember 9/11? Anything for oil! Iraq and Afghanistan were scapegoats to avoid confronting Saudi Arabia.
Well said😂 as an iranian shouting for freedom in my country we didnt expect from other countries to come and fight for us we just wanted them not to negotiate with our totalitarian regime. Yet what Biden did?! Gave millions of dollars of our country's blocked money to our dictatorship regime on the same day of #MahsaAmini 's death aniversary making them able to boost their supression equipments & equip Hammas for Oct 7th, triggering another war in the Middle East!
This is what I don't understand about people in countries like the US, Australia, UK etc. who join the military. You are risking your life when you're on tour, and when you return via mental health issues. Best of all it's going to be in a war that you really shouldn't be involved in. The US shouldn't have had boots on the ground since the Vietnam War. Yes our forefathers served in WWI and WWII but the world was a different place then.
Are you serious? People join not because they care or want to. They are trying to get out of a bad home situation. Govt offers a lot of benefits so it looks like a way out. O don’t blame them😊
The war was hijacked by politicians. Suddenly we were supposed to nation build and provide womens rights to scool... strange, the army never taught me those skills. Removing the enemy on the other hand. We shouldnt have left. Casualties were the lowest they had ever been during the conflict. It could have been a great strategic asset and there are plenty of natural resources that could pay back the investments and more.
0:54 A waste of time?? What about all the girls that got educated? The freedoms women gained. It's incredibly sad the Taliban have taken back over and reversed that. But at least the people have tasted a different life, one day I hope they are able to remove the Taliban themselves. 1:04 Oil? Afghan barely exports, and has barely ever exported, any oil. 2:55 Warriors are not tanks, they are infantry fighting vehicles and could be carrying 10 people, you don't want them hit by an IED. He doesn't even mention other potential allied transport that could have been using the routes. So with a lack of dedicated mine clearing vehicles, people on foot is the only way.... 3:46 Billions were spent on projects other than security to try and help the locals. This guy is clearly suffering and needs help. It's also clear he was failed by the CoC who failed to explain what they were doing and why. Vice has a responsibility to not use people who are suffering like this, putting a title on that suggest everything he says is correct and some kind of big exposure ***Vice has now changed the title, hopefully realised their mistake it taking the word of one disgruntled person***. There is a responsibility as journalists to not just let him ramble on without challenge to what is being said.
Surely the US didnt invade Afghanistan because they thought their girls were too badly educated? This was never stated anywhere as being the reason, and is just an attempt for you to defend the ockupation afterwards, isnt it?
@@PunkOnARant Did I say it was the reason? 😏 I was responding to his 'waste of time remark'. There were over seven million children attending school in 2007 when he was there, which was a six-fold increase from 2001. Thirty-seven percent of those children were girls and about 400,000 female students started school for the first time in 2007. In 2001 there were NO girls in school. In addition, ten universities were functioning throughout the country in 2007, compared to only one during Taliban rule pre 2001. It isn't just education, life expectancy increased by several years, the child mortality rate almost halved - saving close to 100,00 children / year by 2014, access to safe drinking water and sanitation sky rocketed. Clearly this was never communicated to him as a junior soldier, which was a failure of senior leadership. If it had been communicated to him, it might not have felt like a waste of time. By the time NATO left, millions and millions of children had been educated that otherwise wouldn't have been. Millions of women were able to work and start to get their independence. Many hundreds of thousands of children survied that otherwise would have died. So even if education wasn't an explicit aim, it was part of the plan to leave a better country... unfortunately that isn't how it played out. However, education is the path to freedom from these kinds of regimes. So what do you think is better for the people of Afghan? Taliban rule? Or Nato occupation that worked towards installing a democratic government?
All of that. All of that. Wasted in the same hour the US left. Wasted time and US tax dollars. The Tali just walked on in the same day and same hour and took it all back. Yeah, it was a waste of time lol

This criminal channel, calls islam as a terror!. Tell me, wich Quranic verse call or orders for commiting terrorism??!! P.S. those misinformation are a double edge sword, and the good side of it is that many people who fell into this misinformation have ended up converting to islam, when they have read the Quran and found that these claims are misinformation and that islam is the true religion.
