I used to despise Ladbible for their babbling nonsensical articles with a headline like " old windscreen wiper falls off moving car in freakish dangerous clip"
Maybe they just needed to get attention and money. You know they say money shows your true colors. Perfect example of the question: What would you do if money didn't matter? I would litearally build my own society and country. .
I served in the Canadian Army as an Infantry soldier for 15 years and fought in Afghanistan. The similarities between this mans story and my own are scary.

When he said "sincerity does not excuse the person and justify the person doing reckless, irresponsible actions." the term "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" came to mind.
The one that came to my mind was 'the law of unforseen consequences',particularly when he talked about Afghanistan and CIA sponsorship Russia invades Afghanistan,America support Muslims fighting against Russia with money/arms Russia gets forced out, those extremist Muslims continue to fight against the new Afghanistan government,America supports the Afghanistan government against them with soldiers both soldiers and arms The Afghanistan government gets overwhelmed and the american soldiers flee before they are killed by weapons that their government/the CIA supplied to fight the Russians Seems rather ironic, but also very sad 😔,particularly when you hear what's happening to the ordinary people out there, most especially women
GK Chesterton said that the phrase, “ the road to hell is paid with good intentions” makes little sense because actually good intentions defined according to the tradition, come directly from God and as such could never lead to hell…
That was heavy. This guy is living his apologies every day. Listening to him, it is more understandable while soldiers are taking their own lives so regularly after coming back.
There was an Australian soldier who recently came home after the Afghan withdrawal who struggled with that, he said it was so difficult and scary for him to leave and he felt like he'd betrayed them and got suicidal

I've met and talked to this man and as a fellow surgeon was impressed by his integrity and courage. I myself have been kidnapped and tortured twice during my medical missions.
This series is so good. It also makes a great argument for humanity and rehabilitation. A lot of these people have a story, it's not so black-or-white where people are "just evil".
Black and White is never the case. You should still strike down people who are an immediate threat. But that's just for pragmatic reasons. Everyone is a result of forces acting upon them. Muslim extremism is a part of Islam that was originally mistrusted by other muslims. It was born in a time of great crisis where the mongols had destroyed much and particular religious movements tried to make sense of it as a punishment from god. This logic has been reawakened due to the very unstable conditions of the middle east. If american christianity where in the same position. You'd be delusional if you think that wouldnt turn out just the same. With violent militant Westboro Baptist churches cropping up all over the place.
@@feministadentata4041 actually they do. Look into the psychology of tribalism. Read a bit. Absolutely moving story, gave me so much perspective. Its crazy how Ladbible went from completely irrelevant for a time to this. I was surprised to see videos like this pop up all of a sudden on my feed and find it was from them. This is incredible stuff and really an example of how you can use a platform to send a better message and educate people.
Whoever comes up with this content should get an award, can’t believe this is ladbible - usually associate it with mindless drivel to kill a few mins but this stuff really sticks to your thoughts
It's easy for us growing up relatively safe here in the USA to say we wouldn't buy into the radical Islam beliefs. But I think if we grew up with this sort of violence all around us. If we had, we would want to do something about it. I can see how easy it would be to fall into a group who have a misguided agenda.
You could argue Americans do fall into groups with misguided agenda despite the relative safety. Politics, cults, social justice, and others are rife with stuff like this. Perhaps less violent, but violent nonetheless. Like the Capital Riot, BLM and ANTIFA riots, gang violence, and so on
@Norbërt she isn’t saying there aren’t any, she just saying when you’ve grown up surrounded by violence, physically seen your brother die in front of you, it is easy to then want revenge. He grew up having these thoughts then made friends with people who thought exactly like him.
Tell me you never went to Jesus Camp without telling me that you went to so many you can divide them into categories. Be very wary of the phrase, "Onward, Christian soldier..." There are many to whom it's no kind of euphemism, I promise. It *can* happen here. To them, you are either the unconverted or an agent of the adversary. "YHWH can figure it out once the bullets stop flying. After all, bullets flying must by necessity be part of the divine plan, otherwise how could it have even happened when I pulled the lever on this machine? Huh? Riddle me that. Whoever I killed must have been supposed to die."
Alot of people are doubting his sincerity and are nitpicking what he has to say without actually listening to his overall message. He nvr tried to excuse the things he did and he is just explaining the reality of how he came to be radicalized and the reason why he moved away from it was because of the senseless violence against Muslims and non Muslims that he had to be a part of and to witness. Ultimately his is a sad story of disillusionment and its exploitation and regret.
@@erickstanza8782 I think you mean he is still a muslim. Meaning he places a lot of importance on how Muslims treat one another and behave in general. That doesn't make him a radical, that makes him a member of a collective.
It’s so unique to hear it from someone who actually lived it and to hear it from his perspective. Quite like he said, I believe there’s always two sides to the story. I’m glad that he was able to have a change of heart and live the remainder of his life with a different viewpoint. That takes a lot of courage.
This was such a moving and impressive interview. I admire the courage and the internal integrity of this person. It is not at all easy to admit what he admits and to work on fixing it every single day, and helping other young people. Really impressive!
This is a really insightful interview, it has certainly exposed me to a perspective and world-view that I hadn't even considered. This man is very intelligent and very empathetic and it's incredible how he has used those experiences to better himself and those around him
Can't imagine what its like living in war-torn country, seeing your brother die, teaching awareness for 20 years without pay for it to mainly fall on deaf ears. Glad he saw the truth too many young ppl choose violence (of course a lot are forced). Hope he is at peace and more ppl can be like him 🙏
Such a beautiful and powerful interview. This is a man, who has gained his wisdom the hard way. His inner peace shows in the way he talks. And he talks sense! More power to you, Sir! You have my respect.
"i would say give up dogmatism" , great advice. so many religious people followed dogmatism but not their own heart who told them that kindness is above all.
All religions have dogma. Even peaceful buddhism has dogma. Its best to have either minimal religion or no religion at all in your life. We must move on.
Wouaw- he's gone through a lot since childhood. No wonder why he was a vulnerable target to enroll. Well done to him for finding the truth and inner peace.
For all the ignorants, he is not a terrorist like you think he is. He is from the Mujahedeen that have fought the Soviets with the big support of the Western countries (especially USA and UK). Some of that Mujahedeen then turned into Taliban but not all of them. And some of them even tried to prevent the Taliban (like Shah Massoud).
@@thamsanqakhoza7032 There is no objective definition so I just used the Western Goverments' perspective. They don't classify the organization that he went into as a terrorist organization
Its all relative, to the USSR mujahideen were terrorist to the west they were freedom fighters and now taliban is perceived as terrorists while some in Afghanistan see them as freedom fighters
@@廾W yea this terrorism shit is mostly a concept which goverments use to illegitimize their enemies in the eyes of the international public. but i used western countries' definition for explaining purposes. if we make the definition as "every organization that kill civilians for its political, social or economical purposes is a terrorist organization" then most of the countries would be considered as terrorist :D
@@thamsanqakhoza7032 it's all very politicized and blurry, but terrorist generally refers to non-state actors which focus on civilian targets and public infrastructure in order to achieve their strategic means. The only branch of the mujahedeen which you could make a proper case for being a terrorist organization was the Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin due to their extensive attacks unto civilian targets during the Afghan Civil War and their relations with al-Qaeda.

Really enjoyed this, there’s so much under the surface when it comes to the other side and what could spur people to go down a violent path. I remember being on deployment back in 2017 and seeing the destruction that all that fighting did to the communities there and I could definitely see a young person being angered by that which unfortunately could make them susceptible to influence. I’m glad he got out and is using his experience to make the world a little better. 🙏🏾
Whilst the elite pick and choose who our "enemies" are, most normal people don't care for the politics. At our core, we are all the same - we all just want to live our lives in peace, in a safe environment, with our basic needs met. I'm a Brit and, for as long as I can remember, Brits and Russians are supposed to have been enemies. But everyone I know was utterly horrified by the Beslan atrocity. Our hearts went out to you and we united with you in grief, horror, and outrage. There was no "us & them", just a global "us" mourning catastrophic and unnecessary loss. Regardless of the press, the propaganda, or whichever power-hungry egomaniac is in charge of either country, when it comes to the average citizen, more unites us than divides us. And when it comes to the heartbreaking events at Beslan, many of us around the world stand with you 💕

@@ansur9890 Try reading my comment before ranting a reply. I said that most people want peace and I certainly didn't give a thorough breakdown (or even a passing comment) on the fairness of Russian politics. Just because someone mentions one thing doesn't mean that they don't care about another. I'm not getting drawn into the debate you clearly want, that is unrelated to the thread you've posted on, but I will say this: the children of Beslan were not responsible for Russian policy in Chechnya. It's difficult for anyone to make a valid point or take the moral high ground when they've murdered children.
@@ansur9890 Everything happens for a reason. Doesn't make it right. If you're from Chechnya, you would know quite well it wasn't only russian army killing innocents. The word "jihad" is widely used, though often inaccurately, by Western politicians and media. In Arabic, the word means "effort" or "struggle". In Islam, it could be an individual's internal struggle against baser instincts, the struggle to build a good Muslim society, or a war for the faith against unbelievers. what is this guy on about....
"godless" people shouldn't be fought and or killed either. The only fighting that should happen in this world is to defend one's self, family and home.
Political parties don't invade, countries invade other countries. Besides that point, he views Communists as "godless" people and that he is justified because of that, not the fact they are Communists.
@@ShawnStrickland Communists should absolutely be violently opposed anywhere they can be found. The USSR invaded Afghanistan with the explicit purpose of propping up a Communist state (Communist Afghans absolutely collaborated with this). That is a Communist invasion.

You know what should be one of the takeaways from this interview? Just coz you are giving asylum to someone who came to you in distress from their home country doesn't mean they will be loyal to you and your country and will add value and be a good citizen. I really appreciate how this person turned his life around, but the way he brushed off the atrocities of the Bangladesh war (that was technically a genocide) as ‘conflict on both sides, nobody is to be blamed’ was very callous. It was an ethnic genocide deliberately perpetrated by the Pakistani army against the civilians of Bangladesh, killing or uprooting thousands of people (especially non-Muslims like my family) as a result. And it is something they’ve never apologised for or even acknowledged. Let’s not just let it slide as if it was no biggie.
this kind of holding onto hatred and regret is exactly why wars and conflict keep reappearing throughout the centuries. yes it was awefull, yes people died on both sides and alot more people probably died before then aswell. aslong you keep holding on to this instead of letting go (like the interviewed)you will be sure to let it happen again.

This is a real man. A man that can look back and inward and say, "I was wrong. Here's why. Here's what we should be doing." And impart that knowledge onto people across the world. The violence may seem very tempting because it can potentially achieve results much quicker than through diplomacy, but most of the time it doesn't actually result in the outcome you originally wanted and the people that suffer the most are the ones you are supposedly fighting for.
Why don't you tell about the illegal state of Israel? Problems in Kashmir, Burma, Palestine, Afghanistan started with occupation, driving out original inhabitants!!!
