Wow, I had no idea. I think a big difference with Shia is that HE was super motivated to succeed whereas many child stars were pushed by their parents. His seemed supportive but not maniacal. Once reaching the plateau of high level acting it must be difficult to know how to keep moving forward. Kinda like sports superstars who spend their whole lives being single minded about success but then reach a point of having to retire and then having to live the rest of their lives not being in the spotlight.

I reckon those kids wanted fame early on too. I remember being an egotistical little shit. Kids aren't as innocent as they seem. They want the fame and fortune. Maybe you can blame the TV, the culture we live in, the allure is inescapable - to be rich, to have lots of stuff, all that illusion of salvation and happiness has been there, and deceiving us, from the beginning for us since we were kids, deceiving us into false sense of happiness, some salvation that lies in the future. Maybe they were driven by the same mortal fears like everyone else: fear of death, or maybe they were running from the question that we all must answer: who are we really? For some, salvation was to find the antidote to death, in whatever way we could, whatever form it may come. For me it was to find some sort of real magic in this world, to find God, to escape death. I found the answer, in a way I never thought I would, and in a place I never thought I would, and it's not an escape from the physical death, it's to find fearlessness because there is no real death, there is no real life, it's only a dream. It's like a different dimension, where the limits of current thinking (of the ego/person) are transcended/simply not there. We are one. blah blah blah, I've lost you haven't I.

Which is why it's all the more interesting that Shia is so easily hated. Rarely as there been a more pathetic and unlikable "victim." Anytime someone tries to point out how shitty of a person he is, it's all about "my family, my upbringing, my dad, my childhood," and when he does "take responsibility" it's always performative. "A man knows when to apologize, even if it's just to stop the bickering." i.e. "I'm a man and I'm better than you. It's YOUR childishness that's the problem." He's feels the world owes him because even though he's been "unjustly wronged" by the world, he's sorry. Yeah, Shia. I remember being 25 too. Time to grow the fuck up.

Even success stories of change involves setbacks and backtracks. The idea of people getting that one message that changes everything is mostly in stories. Though also note that the constant 'i messed up'messages were not what he said in between messups. The video just pulled from his future interviews where he talked about the past. What used to happen was that he would screw up then type a message he took from somewhere else as his apology, then repeat that. They more genuine responses were more recently after everything fell apart. Does this guarantee change? No. Butt a person who is going to change will make these actions. Time will tell if he follows through

@laieli

Egotistical abusers often give "heartfelt" apologies because talking about themselves & how bad they feel still feeds their ego. It's wonderful how empathetically people have received his words, but I wonder about his actions. I don't know what he's done with his time/money/energy making things right that he did wrong - All I've witnessed is him apologizing then continuing the same pattern of behaviour - Maybe he thinks rehabs & apologies are the only steps he needs to take to change, or perhaps the only ones he's capable of right now, instead of ongoing therapy to address reasons/triggers/etc for his behaviours. He has the time & money to get the best kind of help, if he thinks it's worth it, but many people who have the means to go to therapy do not go, because they are afraid. They don't want to face themselves. He's an actor who throws himself into roles so hard perhaps because he doesn't like to be in his own head - same reason we all look for distractions at some time or another but we have a 'Self' to return to. He openly states that he needs guidance. I don't think a parole officer is the one to do it tho ~ I think he needs a therapist who can help him. I have nothing against him & I truly hope he gets the help he needs.

I think it's a great sentiment to believe that redemption is possible but it isn't the public that needs to forgive him; it's the women that he emotionally and physically abused. He was descending into a fog that became more inescapable the further he disappeared into it. If anything I think that child stars that transition to adult stars should have some kind of "sanity break". It's a hard thing going that hard at roles for that long. Acting isn't a bowl of cherries, sometimes it is rather boring and time consuming. For Disney stars you are also pushed into a purity requirement as well, which is why so many former Disney stars rebel to wash away that whiter than white image. I think there is also a fear that if you go on a sanity break, you won't get roles again. But I'd argue that if you are burnt out already, you won't get the roles you hoped for anyway. Shia can recover this, he just needs some time of reflection and chill. He's got plenty of money, he can turn it around.

@metalmike570 5 месяцев назад
@@aazhie Yes and now I remember now much loneliness does suck!! Sometimes we roll the dice thinking we have the right one, I took a gamble in marriage more than once. I've ended up divorced both times. The second time it lasted much longer though. I am a father of two grown kids. One is normal and getting on with her life, I'm proud of her she works hard and has an associates in Accounting, and now a good job etc.... However my son who is 21 now is a low-functioning autistic guy. He can't talk, that's known as non-verbal and his life is difficult. Even so he goes to school, for those that are like him. And he wants to go he wakes up good and his mom gets him all ready and takes him in, and coming home the school bus does that. I'm there and have become his care-giver now upon his return. So really I've accomplished many things I wanted and never did want to be lonely. In my fifties now I'm mostly retired and I concentrate on my adult kids and have learned to work with their mother, my ex-wife. There is just enough money to live and get some things I want and help them too. I bring that up because money management is important, struggling to pay bills had me working 2 jobs for 4 years or more after being in the regular Army for 12 years. And also was in the Army Reserves after I got out of the Army and then had 2 jobs too. Sometimes you gotta give more than 100% to reach an end goal. Now I realize that I did that.

@alexplorer 5 месяцев назад
You completely glossed over the end of the "Don't Worry Darling" story (as well as the peripheral drama on that production). Much like with the Alec Baldwin case, Shia produced texts after the fact that vindicated him. The director (Olivia Wilde) said she fired him, but he had texts and even a video call where he backed out because he didn't want to do the film without a longer rehearsal time (because he's so "method," as we know). The video call is begging him to come back to the production. There's a lot more than just that, but I'll have to summarize: Wilde then went on to claim Florence Pugh was scared of Shia, which Pugh denies. Wilde replaces Shia with Harry Styles, and ends up turning the cast against her by sleeping with him on-set (There are reports of production delays due to them spending so much time in her trailer). (BTW, can you imagine the backlash if a male director was slipping away for a fling with a starlet ten years his junior? I have yet to hear the word "unprofessional" in this case, but actions speak louder than words because...) The press tour for the movie ends up being a disaster and memed multiple times. Pugh purposely misses some of the dates and shows up late to the premier so she doesn't have to interact with Wilde. Chris Pine famously looks like he doesn't want to be there. Wilde swears she never hooked up with Styles until after she split from the 10-year relationship with Jason Sudeikis, but look up the "special salad dressing" story from the nanny. Lots of details in there no one could invent, and not the sort of thing Sudeikis and Wilde want out there. Shia may run with a bad crowd, but he dodged a bullet by skipping out on that trainwreck. Sucks that most people are only going remember Wilde's side of the story even with her cemented reputation as a liar and cheat while he's got receipts no one wants to see.

It's a great video and I really hope he will bounce back and make a great recovery story out of that. Some people did and they became a better people afterwards. It didn't erase their wrongdoings, but rather taught them what sort of people the cannot be. As a few examples I can mention probably one of the biggest ones: Robert Downey Jr, who messed up big time on every possible field, but since recovery, he became one of the best actors of his generation. Craig Ferguson, perhaps less known, but one of my favorites had similar story to tell. Also let's not forget about Justin Bieber, yes, I know I know - Beebs. I couldn't care less about him, but since his Comedy Central roast in 2016 (if I remember correctly), he grabbed my attention as someone who is trying get off the bad boy path and get on the right one. He acknowledged he messed up, but also said something very interesting: I was a teenager, who all of a sudden became incredibly popular, millions of girls shouting at the slightest sight of me with a 200 million dollars bank account. I could have everything I wanted. How would you react? This sparked the thought, that probably most would fly off the handle in those circumstances. Yeah, but it’s also an indication that he has pinpointed the problems and is actively working to fix them. That’s more than most people in his situation do. He seems to be doing better and I can see a lot of regret and guilt in his eyes, which doesn’t happen with people who don’t care about what they’ve done. “But he’s an actor” you could say, and you could be right, but I don’t think you can fake that. Even as an actor for a scene, you’d have to be able to pull from something real to get this look. I hope he gets better, with his talent and determination, he has more to offer to the world as a decent human being.

Earlier I watched a video on life-to-date of a former female gymnastic star. Just like anything that involves, fame, money, power, etc. the young are almost always chewed up and spit off like chewing gum. Some are able to recover, some were never made for that pressure and if they don't realize it and get out early enough, it usually ends badly for them and the coaches, managers, studios, or whoever did the initial damage, move on to the next victim. I sincerely hope that Shia is able to recover with his family, it pays better dividends to the heart and mind.

im not unsympathetic to how much pressure and emotional damage one must face as a child actor, but i also think that his brain chemistry is just not suited to be a celebrity. he clearly suffers from some kind of mania. his mania is what allowed him to be driven enough to make his career as a potentially great actor, but that same mania holds him back, as it makes him too unstable and confrontational to work along side or to be a public figure

No. He did not literally murder somebody. For the shooting of the cinematographer to be a murder - Alec Baldwin would have intended to shoot and kill her. He didn't. In actuality, he's a ... I guess "ok" actor - like many child actors - who is not capable of dealing with the fame / money that comes with that. Since a young kid, he's been told he's amazing and clever and has the intelligence of an adult in a child's body. In reality, he was abused in the hollywood system and had his childhood stolen.

If indeed you were accused of mental and physical abuse by an ex partner, then we all know that is not a good thing to do if you did do it. BUT, how many innocent men find themselves in this position. I'M NOT CONDONING DOMESTIC ABUSE TO ANYONE WHO ISN'T READING THIS PROPERLY. No one was there to help you, truly help you. The interview with John Bernthal was amazing. I hope you can turn your life around Shia. You are a great actor.

@@Zennsunni oddly what a lot of famous people do is buy into franchises like McDonald's which over 80% of are actually privately owned. You own 10 McDonald's so you get passive income and stability from it for life, but personally if I had that kind of money, I have my own endeavors to invest in, but I also went to college for electronics/electrical engineering which is advanced mathematics, quantum mechanics and I've invented some cutting edge technology that may never see the light of day due to funding. Oddly, I'm heavily connected to the entertainment industry but it's not exactly in a good way. My brother is a very well-known and powerful casting director, and I've had a lot of "relationships" with some of the most famous women on earth who really are not good people at all. I play a few instruments at the elite level, can sing 7 octaves quite easily and do countless singers' voices, do a lot of writing, can hold my own amongst the best comedians etc., but what I personally experienced and witnessed is more or less an industry that is a sex cult. Your talents and strengths are borderline irrelevant compared to what you are willing to do to advance amongst your peers and this is what the big wigs truly look for. Blind ambition and selfishness. A lot of my terrible experiences with famous women started with super famous girls before being so famous when they were on the Disney channel, and this is where Shia started out so I can only imagine the depravity he was exposed to and encouraged to be involved with. I quit watching TV 14-15 years ago and I catch the bullshit stories these women tell in the media that I know for fact are totally made up, but I said nothing until February of 2022 since there's nothing to gain from speaking out. *Ultimately, these people are really fucked up inside and out and the public is brainwashed to disturbing levels with who they believe most of these people are.* I doubt Shia's tough guy act is an act at all, but it still doesn't suit him. *He comes across as a guy that's constantly askin for it.*

Just a correction: The comic story Shia La Beouf stole from Daniel Clowes was "Justin M. Damiano" (published 2008), not "Ghost World" (published 1997). "Ghost World" is Daniel Clowes' most well-known comic and film adaptation, so it's often brought up as a reference point ("the creator of Ghost World") in the mainstream press whenever they're writing about him.

Anybody can have an enormous ego over anything. Like the star quarterback on a high school football team. Or the head cheerleader for that matter. I'm not necessarily disagreeing, just saying, it doesn't take much. Dr. Phil (whom I can't stand) did make a good point saying 'The smaller the celebrity, the bigger the ego,' and cited examples of a veteran A-list star being a guest, and showing up on time, very nice and extremely cooperative, as opposed to say, the 5th-place contestant of a singing competition being a guest - and being late, having a big entourage, acting snotty and just an insufferable ego - it happens. Of course, I will say that Shia did push the ego-driven behavior to a destructive level, it seems.

To the point that tmk the flag was inside a building on a white wall at some point and they still managed to find it. Hopefully he can find a way to improve himself going forward.

Damn. I found this video very interesting, balanced and the narrator himself rather sincere, kind and honest too. The so-called ego that Shia often referred to as the culprit - he's not wrong about that as such, but I HIGHLY doubt he's truly realized what ego is and the sheer magnitude of this force that he's been dealing with. Truth is, this ego's got him by the b***s, keeping his true spirit/unconditioned consciousness/Being hostage. He's danced with the devil, and he's danced very close to the fire in attempt to burn this ego/devil/falsehood, but he never jumped in. And that's the moral of the story, that it (almost) never ends. This dance with the devil goes on. No one I know is truly free, no one walks away liberated, no matter the s**t they've gone through and how many rehabs they've been in and how many apologies they've made etc etc. Shia is an honest expression of what's f****d up in the world and I am happy to see him bearing his ego with such courage. I wish him well, and may he in this life find the solution to all this, the solution he's been mostly unknowingly looking for. In my own way, I am going through the same thing, but due to my imagination, I took shortcuts, I see the fame and fortune and all the perversion and degradation that ensues before needing to physically experience it. You need only a sample of this s**t to know you don't want more (well, maybe sample quite a lot....I did drink my fair share of mind's mud). Editing this, I felt the urge to say this is of course not limited to child actors, what about the music scene, the Cornells, Benningtons and Weilands of our time?) May we all learn from this, and may we all begin to urgently look for real peace, real freedom, which is within ourselves. How much personal sacrifice are you prepared to make, even for the time being, to the find absolute truth/freedom? Look no further than "non-duality" teachings (Mooji, Ramana, Maharaj, Gangagi, Adyashanti, to name a few teachers - who can't truly teach you this, but can remove misconceptions, help point to the doorless door within you that you must walk through to be free - you already are, but to experience this truth, to die before you die? that's what it's all about now). I wonder if you could do a take on Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty co-creator who fell from grace, is this guy redeemable, I wonder what you'd think). It's probably not as sweeping in timeline/there may not be enough material, but maybe there is? I hope my comment stays, but RU-vid has a habit of deleting them because I write long comments, or its AI is pure evil.

That's kind of a dumb statement. Laws are not moral and generally breaking laws has absolutely lead to those laws being changed. Just look at all the recreational marijuana states or civil rights. Same with sodomy laws or interracial relationship laws. If you actually think that "simply by breaking them" isn't a way that laws end up changed, you shouldn't be talking because clearly you lack any actual insight into how laws have changed over time. 😂😂
