God's plan also involved drowning all the animals and infants and toddlers that did nothing wrong except being born to corrupt parents. If God's plan involves planetary genocide of all species, count me out. The fact that anyone is willing to rationalize PLANETARY *GENOCIDE* of so many innocent animals and small children and remain a Christian just shows the effect on religion on the brain. I don't support mass murderers in ANY capacity. Go ahead, justify planetary genocide. I can't wait to hear it.

Stay at home as long as you can. This is an unfortunate situation for her. She needs to mourn. Luckily this pile of money came to help her but at that cost it’ll never be the same. But the fact is she has the money. She should pay off the most reliable vehicle she has and sell the other (I’m assuming they had 2 vehicles) she could even buy a little house somewhere and pay it off. There’s the possibility she could go back to school. Maybe she could become a nurse, it’s a great reliable high paying career. As a male nurse my heart goes out to her. I hope she can find peace soon and her and her child can move on with time. She should take time to grieve. Pay off the most reliable vehicle she has. Look for a little house somewhere. Set aside money for an emergency. Set aside money for her child’s tuition. Look for education or if she can get a decent job somewhere then that would be fine as well. I wish her the best of luck

There isn’t a premium up charge for suicide. There is a clause that suicide within the first year doesn’t get paid, but even that isn’t enforced most of the time. Unless the deceased actually declared that they had bought the policy planning to take their own life, the company generally pays. It’s bad business and bad PR to deny a widow like this the money.

It's been 12 years since my dad passed away. My dad had about six sources of money that came to my mom and she had no idea he did that. He was a sneaky investor apparently. Even his coworkers sent her money for about a year after he passed. She barely spent anything in the first 7 years. She said she rather have him than the money, but I told her it was left for her to live. She just started spending some about five years ago on home repairs :)

Nobody gets to choose when it’s their time. It’s great he had the foresight to have life insurance. I had a 35year old lady that was married, her and her husband had bought a house and she wanted each of them to buy life insurance. Her husband was working on a classic car restoration in the garage and died of carbon monoxide poisoning. She came to find out how to collect on the policy because she couldn’t afford the mortgage on her own. He had told the doctors for underwriting he wanted to shop around for rates. He never bought the policy but started a policy at another insurer. He’d never done the medical exam for them either. She had to pull from her 401k and sell the house. He didn’t have insurance. I see many couples where the person that makes less pays for the life insurance. The policy is usually to benefit them.

Anne Day many people feel they are invincible, until they find out they aren’t. The lady I worked with knew her husband didn’t do it intentionally. She held no ill will. She was still in shock and a bit disappointed. His toxicology report showed he had .01 over what was considered deadly for carbon monoxide.

I would put all 500k in SPHIX for a 4% return. That gives her 20k for life approximately. At least in the meantime while she recovers emotionally she can eventually work 20 hrs a week and make close to 15k like that. With 35k a year she can do well and preserve the capital while she figures things out and maybe buys a property for half a million that gives her 8% return for an income of 40k a year without working. Just a thought.

I love this advice. A lot of people need to just put their money in a savings account instead of trusting white collar crooks or making dumb investments with it. Dumb investments and white collar crooks could take all of your money or leave you owing money. But inflation is only going to take a relatively small, petty percentage. Losing 15% of your money to inflation beats losing 100% of your money to bad "investments" or white collar crooks.
