This was my sisters story but w out the happy ending. She began using w her bf to appease his abuse after he began high pressuring her to join him. She found out she was pregnant a couple months later. I was not in a position to take her baby so she was handed over to foster care in 2019 when she was born. My sister tried to clean herself up including rehab twice but she wasnt 100% clean in time and the state allowed the baby to be adopted by the foster parents. She lost it after that. Quit her job and became homeless. Ive gone to her on the streets and pleaded w her to come back w me. Says she has nothing left to live for. Its been 5 years. I dont think she'll ever get off the street now but I do still try to convince her, when I can find her among the homeless tent camps.

Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal and powerful story. Addiction and its consequences are incredibly challenging, and your sister’s situation underscores the critical need for comprehensive support systems that not only address substance use but also provide mental health support, family reunification services, and long-term recovery programs. Please know that your sister's life has immense value, and there is always hope for change. Your dedication to helping her is a testament to your love and resilience. Remember, you're not alone. Many have found their way back from the brink, and with the right support and interventions, there is always a possibility for healing and redemption. Your efforts to reach out and support your sister are incredibly important. Don’t hesitate to seek support for yourself as well during this trying time. Stay strong, and keep believing in the possibility of a better future. There are communities and organizations out there that can offer support and resources to both you and your sister during this difficult time, for example, there's Unshattered, an organization supporting women in breaking the addiction relapse cycle: standtogether.org/news/unshattered-handbags-are-ending-the-addiction-relapse-cycle/?STTOGTR_FT_2023_413678_YT_TRAFIC_ARTICLES&ARTL_UNSHATTERED_V1_PHO&ORG

we need places like this nationwide.. the approach to addiction treatment should be compassionate care not criminalization! the opioid crisis was caused by corporate greed!! we should be helping these victims, not turning a blind eye smh drug addicted babies have been shown to recover more quickly when they are able to remain with their mother 💕🙏

The need for compassionate care in addiction treatment nationwide is clear. The opioid crisis requires us to prioritize support over stigma. Studies show that babies affected by addiction recover faster when not separated from their mothers, highlighting the importance of nurturing bonds during recovery. It's essential to treat addiction as a health issue, not a moral failing, and focus on healing and family unity. For example, Christina Dent's initiative, End It For Good, does exactly that: standtogether.org/news/end-it-for-good-is-helping-to-end-the-war-on-drugs/?STTOGTR_FT_2023_413678_YT_TRAFIC_ARTICLES&ARTL_ENDITFORGOOD_V1_PHO&ORG
