I had one case on Border in ranked last season (solo q, Copper) where this guy flamed me saying "bad aim". "shit talking me doesn't help, callouts do" I retorted. And that changed the dynamic of things. My team were giving callouts which helped me win the 1v1 as Hibana (flash banged the Castle then swung him thanks to the intel), and he even told me to reinforce bathroom hatch as Kapkan (I was like "you don't have to tell me twice" in my head as I was happy he was giving his all instead of taking it out on the team). We won that game!!! 😲😲😲😲 My point is, not all cases but some where they're being horribly negative to you, try nudging them in the right direction instead of just being mad at them or muting them. It can work wonders, as I experienced with that Border game while I was on Hibana/Kapkan (yes they're 2 of my mains, deal with it bitch 😛. Really I'm a flex player at heart, but support main when it comes to serious business i.e. ranked and I don't mind doing the boring stuff like hard wall breaching/flank watch/setting up claymores to deny run outs/anchoring/setting up traps/Valks/Miras etc to help the team win, even if my fragging capability isn't the best). I learned long ago from a RU-vidr Sir Swag, "the first team to tilt, is the first team to lose" so I try to keep comms constructive if not positive, and if we're losing "how can we salvage this?" unless I'm tilted, then I just go quiet instead of flood team comms with dogshit to make us lose even faster. Don't always get it right but I try man *tl;dr* try pointing them in the right direction if someone's bashing your aim, get them to give callouts instead of insulting you. This is where I live in siege. The game feels fun and playable at this level, I don't rage, I don't experience the vast majority of the issues the game has. I see maybe one cheater in a play session of 3.5 hours, and the rest of the time I'm just vibing with my bro on comms, shooting the shit. If people scream down the mic, I just mute them and play off pings, but I don't just auto-mute. The game is chill and fun down here, and I have no desire to return to ranked after spending most of my recent playtime here

I for one think a very understated aspect of having fun in siege is definitely just being positive. Ive made an active effort to be positive in comms in siege, and Ive not only found it makes the game far more fun but also most of the time if I create a positive atmosphere in a lobby everyone else more fun
Also calling the "no effort" mentality a caste system really opened my mind lol. Ive never been able to figure out how to express it but that sums it up perfectly.
also i think a lot of the frustration people feel with siege is from playing ranked, for some reason people have this feeling they have to play ranked. They even do this if they come home from a long day. Like some sorta of pride. And then they get mad that they have to play at their best and bring the best characters and then complain they have sweat, like hello, you choose the mode with stakes on the line! what did you expect? If more people played standard, they’d have a better time. also playing the game with friends make it infinitely better.
I often throw in a line "anybody got a mic" in the pre-game lobby, and if you're in a duo stack getting your friend to reply in-game tends to work wonders for getting others to talk as well

Meta/gameplay is honestly pretty good this year. There’s not really any balancing issues; the game itself is fun. It’s just the core foundation that is screwed and I don’t think Ubisoft are prepared to invest the time and money needed to do a full overhaul of the game engine or anti-cheat. My guess is the game is cooked until they hit their promised “100 operators” finish line and have an excuse to let it die.
Don't play Siege, but I get super hard on myself for mistakes and failure. It's a mix of wanting to be good enough to teach people and an inclination to play unpopular things on purpose to see what people have missed when they surrender to a meta game. The difference between someone slobbering their mic in the pre- or post-game lobby is massive. One you can rely on to throw and scream in your ear and the other will hype you up in the commendation screen.

tru that although as someone who switched from console to pc bc my ps4 hard drive was fragging out and the hard drive failing, pc siege is no better if not worse, i played 3 games last night and had a rage hacker in two of them which made me just hop off as a 66% hacker hitrate when ive not even played this new szn yet is crazy

XIM is complete bs, annoying, and unfair - I get it. But I would take that all day over the cheating on pc. Ranked is unplayable :( so the game is unplayable to me

Recently got back into siege with some homies we don’t play super often but the gun play, teamwork and destruction still stands out amongst other FPS games on the market rn. At least to me. (Console btw RIP to the PC homies).
Gregorius my lad, it's heartening to see you pushing for this kind of positive mindset in this very troubled community. Playing competitive shooters online can give a more "sensitive" person a very bleak outlook on what a (mostly male) online space looks like. Ubisoft has more tools than ever for maintaining a healthy community atmosphere, and they signal a lot more about their dedication to combatting toxicity and hate in this space. How much do those tools and messaging translate into my soloq games in Europe, you ask? Couldn't tell you. Like you point out in the video, after coming back to the game from a break of two years, the unranked playlists gave me quite a positive outlook on the game. People were jovial and chill for the most part, and I'd estimate I had to mute someone once every three games. I made the mistake of getting sucked up into the ranked playlist, and whoo-boy. Every single match I mute 1-2 people before the first round starts. It's not uncommon for me to mute and report my whole team. I'm not doing it because they were "mean to me boohoo", it's genuinely people being the most racist, vile and unconscionable hostile assholes completely unprompted, immediately after the lobby is formed. This isn't new. It was the same back in 2020-21 when I last went sweaty in ranked, and it was the same back in Red Crow/Velvet Shell when I first got into the game. It's just that now Ubi is touting a very strong, visible campaign of battling this stuff, and I'm struggling to see the impact. In ranked, at least. It might just be the problem that not enough decent people who have some moral principles even bother with the game and its community anymore. I know I've walked away from Siege multiple times before not because I was bored or frustrated with the game itself, but because I realized the community had ground me down and made me feel miserable about more than just the game.
I play standard and have a relaxed fun time. Tried rank and quickly realized that trying hard in this game instantaneously makes it a miserable experience. I play for fun and have ALOT of fun. Haven't seen a cheater in standard on PC and Xbox for the past 30 or so hours of gameplay.
Wow I never thought I was self-conscious about my gameplay in upper rank lobbies until you said it out loud... My friends who are all higher rank than I am always try to invite me to their lobbies to join them but I can't deal with people judging my mis-plays
I play siege,for the fun of it i rush in with sledge with shotgun with a master chief skin,trying to hype up the team to have fun,but i do beat myself up when i mess up a gunfight,because of my old rank (high gold)people shit on me despite me taking the game way less seriously than i used to. And it does ruin my day,i wish i could get over it.

I made this comment early in the video, but now that I've watched it through, I have more to say. The points you made about beating one's self up over game performance hit pretty close to home for me. I've been playing since late Shadow Legacy, which, to a veteran, may not sound like much, but that's almost 4 years of game play. And, in the past year in particular, I've felt like I've plateued in skill. I happens to me with a lot of games I play. I get to a certain degree of skill, but then I'm too scared to leave my comfort zone in order to improve. So I don't. Now, whenever I play, I almost feel like I'm performing worse than I was one or two years ago. I peaked around North Star time. And watching Siege content makes you wonder, "Why am I not at that level? What am I doing wrong?" Only to do the same shit again and again. But, do I, in the time I have in a day, have the patience to dedicate myself to a video game? Is it even that deep at all? These are the uestions I ask myself whenever I play Siege now. Sorry, that was a lot. Point is, we should nerf Sens.

Genuinely I just missed R6. I played R6-3 and the Vegas games a ton. I like the story and I just mess around in standard and just have a good time with the game lol.
I have hopes next season will be a chance for the game to bounce back again. The new operator is a character from the old games called Kure (Greek Sniper) and so there's plenty of potential for the lore and her gadget , she's possibly gonna get a new gun cuz she's the same sniper who actually gave Glaz the idea for the thermal scope.
I believe in Siege. I have played it since beta. I have always believed it was a game I might play consistently for years. There have been changes I liked, changes I disliked. Overall, the core of the game has never been tarnished. They came close once or twice, but they've never let it happen. Its foundation is so strong, I think the more time goes on, the harder developers would have to work to destroy it.

I think we need to take a step back and look at the fps community in general. I know some players only play r6, but I bounce around to other shooters and there are general negative sentiments surrounding a ton of fps games. I just think it’s dumb how people say siege is dying cause it’s been around too long or isn’t “evolving”. Like bro, people say valorant is dying, apex is dying, overwatch is dying, cod has been dying forever. The only games that don’t get this criticism are the ones that don’t really have much of a player base to begin with. Like are we really gonna tell ourselves new fps like splitgate xdefiant and the finals are gonna take over the community as the new and better games? Those are the games that actually die eventually.
I try to be a good rolemodel ingame, I give calls and go "Nice one!" or "Nice Try man!" but I also call out people who flame, but I must say, since they added the reputation system, I have not seen many toxic flamers ingame.
I've got to love the sheer dedication and hard work G but in my humble opinion Ubisoft keeps mismanaging this awesome game. I've played since 2 closed beta's until 2015's release and I can humbly say im loyal to this game to the end. That being said I've had plenty of frustations season after season and I dont ask for everything to be perfect. All I ask is the transparency from the Devs that I felt we had back in the day. The main issue is not the trolls saying the game is dead week after week. its the ridiculous negligence of the Dev team adressing and tackling hackers so imo the game in this current state is dangerously getting hammered in a negative way. I really hope next season things do get better becouse this time I do feel like after each decision/patch the game is made to be frustrating and less fun to play with to be honest. All I ask is for the community both pros and casuals to just chill out for once and agree the main core issues of the game and what to do so the Devs can just get their shit together for once and be focused and more competent.

So, a counter yap to the yap, using 13:07 as a basis to begin it. I had this friend, in his own words "annoying German asshole" who got me into Fortnite (bear with me here, it'll come back to Siege, just using this as an example), even against my protests of "but I'm dogshit at every PvP game, best I had was beating Plat players in Paladins as a tank main, Overwatch I was Bronze, Siege my best was Silver 1 (Operation Chimera) I'm not that good man" and in addition to him saying "Siege isn't about skill, it's about who can pick the dirtiest angles to kill you with. I was a Diamond player" he also mentioned how much of a tryhard I am with my games (it's true, I've popped off in PvE games on the hardest difficulty, gotten some leaderboard scores, even set some records too in Let It Die, this hack and slash PvE game because I was a very eccentric player who liked to push the limits of off meta weapons like the Tactical Shovel, slow but strong weapon imho) so I thought "fuck it why not" and Myths + Mortals besides some broken BS, was really fun to play overall and annoyingly they WERE right about me being good at the game ("you'd be good at Fortnite"), I got Plat 1 in solo Zero Build ranked and Diamond 3 in Rocket Racing. Getting into Fortnite prompted a "thank you, but fuck you at the same time" kinda reaction from me because it can have its bullshit moments as well as fun moments aite? With Siege, curiosity brought me back after 4 years (I started in Operation Chimera, ragequit at the end of Void Edge), Deadly Omen was a great shake up to the story + playable characters, then they fucked it up with New Bugs I mean New Blood. I wasn't happy Ubi dropped the ball like this so hard, because I'm tired of playing bad games. I'm tired of suffering, when I already suffer so much irl. The truth is that, even a bad situation can be made better if people make the most of it. But when we get sore winners in CASUAL because the matchmaking inevitably fucked up and put me vs Plats, Emeralds, Diamonds and Champs while I'm trying to do weekly challenges and they have the temerity to type gg ez after stomping us instead of take their win with grace and leave, or sore losers who flame + grief their teammates because they can't win a gunfight against some no life hopped up on adderal loser who's played Siege since launch, yeah it gets really fuckin' draining my dude. Really, really draining. I don't mind spending hours learning a game or reading up on something, fuck I even consumed some music production videos on how to make drum and bass recently so my patience is very eerie when I *want* it to be. But Siege managed to drain all my patience dryer than the Sahara desert in summer on a hot day. If the game's broken but the community are fine, then that mitigates the flaws of the game, but when the game AND the community are just irritating to deal with? I'm already contemplating reaching for the exit sign and putting the game on my blacklist of "never playing it again. You'd have to pay me £4 million to play it LOL" (the community is 50% of the reason I never completed a Dark Souls game (unless you count Remnant From the Ashes 1 as one, but I've been playing 3rd person shooters since Syphon Filter 1 on the PS1 so I had the experience man 🤷♂), y'know, the "git gud", elitist, unfunny, wannabe comedian of the fucking year clowns who attack you for struggling with something ""easy"" when it's objectively not 🙄) and quite frankly I'm not amused that 4 years later the game still has many problems instead of being closer to a nirvana of tac shooters (replay mode + reputation system are appreciated though 🙂). Siege's main problem, even if I were as good as fuckin' Beaulo or Spoit? **Lack of versatility** my friends. Before they removed Outbreak, I was grinding it like a trooper to get all the skins + missions done on all difficulties, even carrying a game on Pandemic difficulty as Ash when one guy DC'd (this was before I discovered my strengths as a support main in Siege). Terrorist Hunt, I loved pushing myself to do stupid challenges like solo realistic clears on various maps, before they removed it. Siege lacks single player content, whereas Fortnite? Fuck me sideways and call me Sally you can do so much in that game! If you're tired of BR, you can, play Save the World, you got Rocket Racing (controls are janky for competitive play, particulary the air dodge latch to walls/ceiling mechanic but serviceable otherwise), Festival main stage (Guitar Hero basically), jam (freestyle with song loops and/or emotes), battle (same as main stage but you get a notes modifier that makes it harder to read for a bit when it's used on a player and lowest scoring players each round are eliminated from the match), Lego (it's fun but there are some bs difficulty spikes until you get your equipment up to scratch, making roaming more of a pain than necessary in survival mode), creator made islands (I use aim trainer map but there's so much to try in general). There's so much you can do and that versatility is why as much as I cussed my friend out initially for getting me into that garbage game, it's actually not so bad given how much choice you have in how you play that game and it could become a mainstay in the gaming sector of my life, who knows man 🙂 Whereas Siege has so little, fuck even old CoD titles offer more value than what Siege does nowadays. Single player campaign and either spec ops or zombies as well as online PvP are what I loved about old CoD. DBD's got some sick collabs with other IPs, even recently adding Lara Croft to the list of playable survivors! (matchmaking is still dogshite tho, so wouldn't recommend that game unless you're willing to spend hours watching guides or getting your ass kicked over and over again to learn it, the knowledge isn't that intuitive imo) Fortnite I had a BLAST playing the Metallica event and I still use the Master of Puppets emote when I get a win in BR. 😆Unless Siege does something that cool or does a MASSIVE U-turn to squash all the bugs + balance issues, I'm so outta here if the next season is a bummer instead of the uplifting, hype experience that was Deadly Omen. Which is such a shame, as I still use those Siege tactics in other games, like watching my angles/flanks, ways to rotate, sweep and clear instead of run in and die in like 3 seconds and its cast of characters are interesting for sure! The other main issue with Siege is that, we as a community need to be more welcoming towards new and casual players instead of shitting on them every time they mess up a gunfight or we stomp them because the matchmaking is doo doo and quite frankly we had zero business facing them in the first place (None, whatsoever). Because if we're unwelcoming to these people, best case scenario it's just us grumpy veterans playing the same game over and over again until we're bored of it, worst case scenario the game just fucking dies. And I've SEEN games die, Ghost in the Shell: First Assault and Lawbreakers to name a couple that I played before they shut down. So let's not go down that road, please. Even Let It Die I got tired seeing the same faces over and over, and loved seeing what new players brought to the table instead of meta abusing player A), meta abusing player B) with zero personality, zero risk taking (running off the wall strats and/or being brave enough to use voice + webcam for their streams) farming endgame content. It's hideously boring and no game with good core ideas deserves to suffer such a fate... *tl;dr* peer pressuring people into playing a game is such a massive gamble, my friend got lucky getting me into Fortnite because of its versatility but a game like Siege is MUCH harder to sell to people. Steep learning curve, toxic instead of forgiving + supportive playerbase, very little to do outside PvP

I stopped playing Siege not cause of the cheaters or "lack of content". It was legit just the toxic ranked bros. Even in Quick Match / Casual or Standard / Unranked, people would flame as hard as ranked bros. It's just really hard to try to say "good try" or "no worries" when the slightest mistep goes bad. I wish we did better.

Can you pick a thatcher to my hardbreach? Vigil, they they coming in from cash, can you flank them? Jager, Ash is under us right now, help please, i need a man for crossfiire on this mira window e.t.c.", and guess what? it dramatically increases the chances to win. And what if they didn't win than? WEll SHIT TRY AGAIN. It costs you NOTHING to inform your roamer of enemy movement, as for the roamer to ask where enemies are right now, to better assess the situation. I understand ya'll sociopaths and all, but you playing a COOP TACTICAL SHOOTER. making decisions as a team, is a priority. Even if they give you 0 info in return, you atleast buffing their chances of winning an engagement or whatever, and helping yourself by that. TLDR: Little help is better then no help.
People have been hating on this game, which ironically they love, since it came out. I feel I've seen the same complaints, and RU-vidrs talking about them for as long as the game has been popular.
I'd describe this as semi-casual. It's not too casual to the point of purposefully losing because it's funny, and it's not competitive enough to warrant toxic environments. It's a refreshing experience just playing the game and not worrying about winning or losing. It's just vibe at that point. Siege is a game after all, it should be (when it works, that is). Can't say I like speaking though. The social anxiety says no.
I try to be positive, but I've tried to be the instigator of positive, helpful comms, and get promptly told to "shut the **** up". I came back after a 4-5 month hiatus playing BG3, and first game back (in Standard), I get TK griefers who figured out how to get past the FF penalty, no callouts, a possible cheater (I didn't see anything, but I think the griefers decided to start after they decided someone on the enemy team was cheating). Give me a decent, easy in game way to get paired with people who aren't toxic (like fixing the reputation system). Otherwise I have a hard time seeing a reason to come back.
even though ubisoft has made this game worce and better and worse again over time fighting this battle of good changes and other changes no one asked for, the number of players that return to this game everyday after work or pick it up again after some time feeling nostalgia with the steam charts slowly declining since this season started, there is *nothing* like siege, and I think the dev team knows that and ubi does too; its just that the devs are fighting for the game against ubisoft, wile ubisoft is shortening its life for the sake of profit.

Played since launch but last 3 seasons ive played 10-12 ranked games total. Tdm meta and cheaters just broke the fun out of it. Me and my brother only play standard or QM now days. Get more coms and real tactical plays there then in ranked now days. Nothing positive to say about ranked now days sadly
Xim on console still rampant... hidden mmr still makes no sense (exacerbates next issue)... matchmaking is trash and was justified by saying more matches go to OT... previous 2 issues are related and coincide predominantly after the repeal of Outlier Protection... Just bad decision after bad decision with no accountability
@GGE the allowance of people of any rank to party together(ranked playlist); Outlier protection did not allow that. They admitted it would have an impact in a vod years ago when they did it
I want more just for fun operators and weapons in siege like Kali. Is she one of the best attacks? No but I enjoy playing here because she’s fun and her sniper rifle is a different type of gameplay to most other attackers. And for weapons add something new like a normal double barrel primary shotgun and then a sawed off secondary shotgun. Or maybe something like a Mares Leg lever action pistol.
Honestly a video like this stoped me from unsubscribing. The content you make is great, but i feel like i'm getting burned out on paticually heavy content. Consider more relaxed content as a way to alivate some of that.
