Not only does this sound absolutely fantastic, but Johnny's voice seems to just keep getting better and better, it's truly amazing to hear how much he has grown into owning this song with his own vocal stylings.

@@christophernoia5197 I thought that too, but it might just be the way he sings that part.. perhaps he did backing vocals in that style? Could just be sneaky auto tune though!

@@JohnnyBuxton totally could be that. I've experienced that before when recording vocals for a song. There was one line that sounded as if I used pitch correction when I didn't because of how I sang it.

First heard this tune smoking hash in 1985, home on leave from the military. To this day, I cannot get this song out of my head. It is so haunting, poignant, spot on, simple yet so complex, that I have yet to hear a song better. I remember the precise place (parking lot of a movie theater) in a 1973 Monte Carlo in Myrtle Beach, SC. My buddy Danny popped in a cassette tape and blew my mind for decades to come.

Marr's rendition remains faithful to the original and extends it with a nuanced touch that makes this version original in its own right.

Marr wrote this song, so the "original" is however he chooses to play it. Arguably this version is better because Morrissey wasn't there to ruin it with his pompous affected bullshit.

Without Andy & Mike the musical Chemistry would literally be different. Sure this is tight & clean performance, though the Original Members performing together is where the real Magick happened. Notice that's past tense. It's good, not enough to discredit the other members who also contributed substantially to achieve what they had together. Johnny me er woulda made it as a solo act before first establishing himself with the Smiths & Visa Versa for Morrissey. All of the ingredients are equally important to the whole.
