Check out Manta Sleep: tinyurl.com/33dtubcn , and make sure to use code: Linkus for 10% off your order! ^^ Hope you enjoy the video, There are a few corrections I would like to add that slipped by in the making of this video: 1. I state the history start's in 2019, this is when the big push for the category happened, but the initial work took place in 2018 as well. 2. I said "Epona Seam Walk" for a trick in the video, the official name is "Epona Seam Clip" 3. I said multiple times "Minimum" instead of "Low Transforms" in the video, the official name is Low. 4. There ended up being misspellings at 7:30 and 10:51 with usernames. That is my fault, that should not happen and I will make sure that won't happen again in the future! I will make sure to learn from these mistakes and make sure to double check for these kinds of errors in the future!
It's a combination of three separate things. You have Jump Strike Long Jump Attack (JSLJA), which itself is a combination of Jump Strike and another trick called Long Jump Attack (LJA). And you have Death Sword Skip (DSS). So JS + LJA + DSS. It's a better name than zuggle lol
@@ChrisisAwesome1 Well, sure, but DSS is a specific _scenario_ or application. The glitch itself is just a Long Jump Attack performed using a Jump Strike. Edit: "Jump" no longer looks like a word.
My (previous possibly, this one's pretty good) favourite speedrun tactic name is Dino Skip Skip from Mario Odyssey. So named because there's already a trick called Dino Skip, and this is a way to skip having to do all that. It's a little bit jokey, but it comes from something... somewhat logical. Dino Skip is using a dinosaur in order to get to a later part of the level. Dino Skip Skip allows you to not have to use the dinosaur, still getting that that same part
Thanks for the video! Low Transforms is a project that I've spent many, many hours working on, discovering quite a few tricks, and the end result is a good run and an even better story. Low Transforms is pretty complex, and there are so many different things that had to go right to get the current route. Like many speedrunning tricks/routes, lots of people's contributions led to the great story that we see. Credit especially to ChrisIsAwesome, who came up with the idea in the first place. Small and niche categories like this are really where the fun in speedrunning is, imo.
Honestly what got me interested in the speedrunning community was "Mario Odissey minimum captures" videos from SmallAnt. I really like this type of videos ♡
i like that kind of speed running not "who ever glitches out of the map first wins" its why if i was a dev id nuke every out of bounds or level loading skip but keep interesting shit in so while you can just metroid 3 out of the game in 15 seconds if your smart enough and position the large acorn right you can d it without beating the game
Both casually and from a speedrunning perspective, TP is my favorite Zelda game, so I'm really glad you're covering news like this Linkus! Really great stuff as always. Keep the good stuff up my dude ❤
Gotta love the energy of speedruns like this. Developers being really proud of a mechanic and building a whole game around it, and gamers go "but what if we didn't use it?" XD Reminds me of the time I decided to play Dishonored without magic or killing. And then got several achievements at once without even knowing they existed XD
This is honestly really crazy... I try to do what speed runners do but I ain't a pro gamer and I don't have a good gameer chair... Also love your content linkus.
I mean, you could always attempt this run - it has 2 ~10-hour-ish rupee slides in it, so plenty of time to sleep and recover from being in a bad gamer chair.
It was found on Christmas 2017 by Gymnast while doing a TAS. It took iirc about a year for it to be done RTA for the first time. Nowadays, it's commonly done by top runners.
Iirc, it is possible to skip the Master Sword transformation with a glitch that transfers items to another save file. Using that glitch to have the bomb bag from the beginning of the game makes it possible to blow up a pair of rocks (the ones behind the wooden cages where the kid and the monkey are trapped) when going to the woods for the first time, allowing the player to reach the Master Sword as Human Link.
but when getting the glitched bomb bag, you have to transform, no? wouldn't the number of transformations then remain equal when you count both save files
I will say, if you want to do LJAs, get the gamecube version! ^^ If I remember correctly, LJA isn't possible in Wii version. The gc version is playable on the Wii though so no worries on the console!
If you like this kind of challenge you should watch the minimum captures in mario odyssey series from smallant. He has videos on almost the entire progression of the category
I really wish the "Wolf Mode" could be removed from Twilight Princess completely , , the wolf moments annoy me horribly , , , great video man , subject means a lot to me , , 🙏 😸👍👍
Alternate Title: "Twilight Princess but realistic." because let's be honest, turning into a wolf is painful as hell, confusing as hell, and weird as hell. NO REAL PERSON WOULD WILLINGLY DO IT UNLESS FORCED TO.
Is it legal in a speedrun, for a trick like the rupee one, to set a timer for yourself to check back in say 9h50m then just go do other stuff while waiting for the glitch to get you in position?
Every Zelda game has a gimmick. Be it time travel, crunch, a boat, a floating wikipedia lady, a train, an iPad, GMod, another boat, the first level of Milky Way Wishes, time travel again, funny cutscenes, multiplayer, a singular item from the multiplayer game turned into a major mechanic, expensive multiplayer, side-scrolling, two worlds, the death of ownership alongside two worlds again, multiplayer with slightly less people, a crossbow, a crushingly existential moral dilemma, tingle, and of course, being a werewolf.
Uuuuuhhhhh. I understand that the sword technique can help you skip the poe boss. But How do you get the sword techniques without wolf link? Sounds like you'd add more transformations than you'd lose😕
We only need to be wolf to howl at the howling stones, and most of those are in sections where we'd be wolf anyway (Twilights, Snowpeak). There is one, though, that we have to use an extra transform for in Lanayru Twilight, because Wolf Link cannot climb ladders for some reason.
here is a link to a run done by Anorakkis four months ago which is a 5 hour long video with sped up slides ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1I2KCzPQO74.html&ab_channel=Anorakkis
so many different ways. Some of it is people spending a lot of time becoming extremely intimately familiar with how the game handles its mechanics (physics, damage calculations, items, doors, story state...) and devising plans for how to use that in unintended ways. Some of it is just genuinely messing around and finding out. Just DO stuff that you're not supposed/expected to at this moment, see if anything interesting happens. Like for instance NOT clearing a text box for several hours. Some if it is accidental, sometimes not even from the speedrunner community at all. Maybe somebody just stumbled across a weird game state, recorded it and uploaded that to youtube. Then when the speedrunners discover the video they set about trying to figure out how it happened and if it's any use. It's in large part just that there's a lot of people playing the game, and a small group paying particular attention for anything that can help pick the game apart.
@Linkus7 Couldn't we death warp to the final boss room in twilight princess because Zelda's explanatory cutscene takes place within it? When you enter that cutscene in wolf form you transform back into a human, so wed enter as a human. I don't know how useful it would be because we might need the master sword to play dead man's volley with dark zelda. We could circumvent this with a bottle of course, but if I'm not mistaken the Ordon Sword does less damage than the Master Sword so even with great fairy's tears/ rare chu jelly we would not be able to two cycle dark beast Ganon. This results in the 3rd cycle needing wolf link. This is a theory, but it's a different lead than I've ever hear talked about. Based on what I just said we probably would need the master sword to be spawned in with us in the cutscene after defeating Dark Zelda.
It's a solid thought but has two big flaws: 1. You can't die into cutscenes (except for ones that initiated upon loading into a room and you die through loading zone), and 2. That cutscene takes place in a cutscene layer of that map. Even if we could warp into that layer, we'd be unable to do anything in the throne room, as there's no actors there. And it doesn't update your save location, so savewarping won't keep you in Hyrule Castle.
Speedrunning games, is a very magical thing to watch. Not only are utilizing glitches, as well as exploiting intended mechanics through unintended ways, very magical to see, but the actions done to save more time, gets new discoveries as time goes on, people discovering glitches and exploits, happens, learning more about a game's ways of breaking them regardless if the game is retro or not EDIT: excuse me for the poor grammar of this comment, I went over it's contents, but cannot figure out how to fix the problems in this comment. I'm not smart btw
The significant part is having a way to escape desert without warping. It's very fortunate that Stallord room has valid BiTE data to avoid crashing when loading the file during BiT. If that wasn't the case, the route would be much different with more transforms. (reposted comment since I posted link to zeldaspeedruns site for more info and I'm guessing that auto-deleted comment, but ZSR has a page on BiTE if you want more info)
I wonder if this could potentially go sub day. I haven't watched the full run, but the idea that half an hour could be shaved off of what's essentially a 4 and a half hour run (with two 10 hour intermissions) seems like a really hard ask. At least, probably not with the current route.
It absolutely could. The only finished run lost eight minutes near the beginning, and an extra six minutes in the middle. It wasn't a very optimized run, and I'm pretty sure sub 24 is doable.
