Venom should have shoe feet and smooth skin, and Carnage should have the toes and sinewy body. Venom is a suit Eddie wears; Carnage is Cletus's final form.
It also reflects their characters. Eddie is a anti-hero that yearns for redemption into a full on superhero, hence why his Venom form is a superhero suit aside from the head. Cletus has always been a monster.
The best part is that any fight against the Symbiote in SM2 is definitely gonna have one of it's defining aspects being "Nope screw you symbiote doesn't trigger the Spider-Sense". Miles in the gameplay showcase didn't detect Peter until *after* he crashed through the roof and that fight as Miles against Peter is gonna be both emotionally hard AND gameplay hard.
I was thinking about that. Miles won't wear the symbiote (even if he did, his powers would repel it), so his spider sense can work against Venom, but what if it's Peter inside? His spider sense won't be triggered because Peter is his friend, so I believe that's gonna be what will hinder Miles in comparison to Peter and his weakness to the symbiote.

Ackshually Xavier 🤓 there are hints that the symbiote could have come from space, like how the science museum in the Miles game showed that Oscorp invested money/resources into space exploration and had their own spacecraft. They could do a similar thing to Spectacular and have Connors study it after it arrives on Earth. Hopefully they go with this direction, because I much prefer it to an artificial bio-form
Thats interesting, they could have discovered venom while on space and while running tests on it they found its symbiotic properties and how it strengthens its host. Osborn attached it to harry as a life support but the symbiote rejected him because he is sickly. Also all the tests and experiments made on the poor creature to enhance its capabilities turning it insane and hateful towards mankind, would be interesting as a way to bridge both the alien and man-made origins of symbiotes.
Given that the new demo shows Peter getting the black suit, I feel like it would be very strange if the symbiote was separated from Harry, only to go back to him so he could become Venom. I’m pretty sure Insomniac would know that a lot of fans think Harry as Venom is a bad idea.
It’s interesting to think we finally got new gameplay footage for the game after two years since the announcement trailer when you consider the amount of gameplay they showed for the ps4 game, im guessing they didn’t want to reveal too much this time, which I certainly can applaud.
Thanks for making a more clear point on the roles that actors vs voice actors play. I’m not necessarily against a screen actor doing voice acting. But typically when they cast some random semi relevant celebrity it’s clear their priorities aren’t in giving a good performance.
I think as far as alternate suits go, Insomniac will bring back the most popular ones people really liked but the ones most didn’t care for like the Fear Itself or Undies will be left out
Hollywood repeatedly casting celebrities over voice actors is really pissing me off too. That whole industry of voice acting has been underappreciated for decades simply because of big wigs not recognizing the real talent in that field. Can’t wait to see you talk about ATSV!!!
I hope they do a fake out like they did in spectacular Spider-Man with the goblin- like they know we’ll be expecting harry or Eddie to be venom and use that to their advantage to steer us in wrong directions
I think it's funny that it's exciting that Miles is there so you can have a Spider-Man mirror match boss fight when that's like the whole point of Venom in the first place. Here's this guy who does everything you can do but he's buff.
I like how when you show movies where the heroes save normal, average citizens are Raimi movies. He pays WAAY more attention and empathy to the random person than any other superhero movies

Seeing as there is a switch character mechanic I can absolutely see a part where Peter gets buried and you switch to miles and have to deal with the city and story and Peter comes back when he digs his way out im hyped thinking about it tbh lmao
I still have hope that Insomniac will give the Venom symbiote the alien origin, considering that in the Miles game there's a segment where Miles and Phin pass through an Oscorp Space Exploration room with rocket shuttles and stuff, so Venom being an alien lifeform instead of living synthetic goop is still possible

Actually Miles didn't teleport when using that first combat move in the gameplay demo, slow down the playback speed and you'll see him charging himself up, then camouflaging as he jumps off his perch, then lands to zap the enemies and turns off his invisibility.
People don’t understand that making Venom more “monstrous” with the weird claw feet and inhuman proportions makes him *less* scary. Venom is scariest when he looks like a normal body builder wearing a black Spider-Man suit from the back… then he turns around and half his face is teeth.
It’s the uncanny valley effect for monsters. The more like a creature you make them the less unnerving it is. The fact Venom looks like a buff spider-man until you reach the face gives you a good sense of weirdness. The better Symbiote designs follow that. They looked like outfits until you reach the face and it starts looking like a creature.
It doesn't make him less scary well as long as you commit to it, giving him normal looking feet makes him look goofy and clashes with his overall design. Venom is more than a suit when Eddie wears him they are a unified alien entity not a just a dude in a suit.
Although that makes sense, I completely and heavily disagree. Venom doesn't need to look human to be scary, he's an alien, he should have elements that show that. Teeth, claws, tendrils, fluids, flesh and bones all could bring more and more of a monstrous aspect, where the body horror is great to make us feel how much worse it could be if you were caught by Venom. You can visually picture all the grotesque sensation of being grabbed by big clawed hands made out of goo tentacles covered of blood and having your head bitten off by a big mouth full of long sharp teeth and an awful smell of dead bodies. Look at Venom in the movies, does he even look scary to you? He looks cool, but not scary. He could be if he was played like that, but he's not.
I dunno, like the only version of venom that I would genuinely consider scary is ultimate venom, and that’s purely cause they leaned far harder into the monstrous aspect for his look That version wouldn’t look out of place in a horror movie

i think bian tyree henry could be good as megatron, he’s already a great actor with a theater background and spider-verse proved he can make that jump to voice acting with little trouble. his range as an actor is absolutely absurd so i have faith in him to deliver at the very least.
I like Eddie as Venom, but I think these days with the movies and King In Black he's too well known as a hero now. I want a scary Venom for Insomniac's SM2, and scary Venom is best when he has some deep personal grudge with Peter and intimate knowledge of Peter's flaws and fears and I don't see that happening with an introduced Eddie. Villain Venom works best as a scorned brother to Peter and they've already set Harry up as having the "Peter's surrogate brother" role. Not only that but Lowenthal has said they did a lot of research into addiction for the game and well, Harry's most famous story is about him being addicted. As an avid defender of the Spencer Run (up to issue 60 at least) the title for the next video has me... hesitant. I certainly agree that it can't be redeemed under current creative control though. They've shown time and again that in their opinion they're doing nothing wrong and if you are dissatisfied with the book it's your problem.
The only thing that bugs me of Insomniac Spider-Man is the chronology compared to the original material, like 8 years after being Spider-Man Peter encounters Doc Ock for the first time, and there are events like Martin Li adopting the Mister Negative persona or Miles becoming a hero, all before the Green Goblin, Venom and Kraven even appear in Peter's life.
I actually like the idea of Peter not having his complete rogues gallery yet. It gives him and the villain time to grow. Venom, Green Goblin, and Doc Ock are considered to be his top 3 villains. For Otto, Peter knew him and worked with him for so many years that once he became a villain it hurt Peter to see someone he looked up to fall. For Green Goblin, imagine how much it would hurt Peter to see his best friend’s father, someone he also grew up with and knew for a long time become a dark villain. I love that Insomniac is giving the top 3 Spider-Man villains their own stories. It gives his character time to grow and develop into a true hero. I’d rather see these 3 villains have their own stories instead of being Spidey’s villain of the week

I'm so glad you are sharing the same sentiment I have for the Transformers One movie casting, like, the title, and Bumblebee being in this movie aside, why did they feel like they had to rely on the big names of Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson for these characters? I shared these sentiments on Reddit and I got a lot of hate for that and a lot of people straw-manning my points. A lot of people will claim that celebrity names sell but they hardly do. A lot of animated projects with a voice cast of celebrities usually bomb at the box office. It really shows that they have no faith in this movie if they are really relying on big celebrities and their name recognition.
Not Eddie and the concept art had Venom with the grippers out. I mean I don’t really care, because Insomniac hasn’t failed us yet so I’m sure whatever they do I’ll at least tolerate.
I don't really know what Insomniac has planned for the story, I just hope that they tell the best story they're able to tell and for that feeling to be seen in the final product. But also if I press square on the street and Spider-Man doesn't do the SM3 dance I'm deleting it from my PS5.

Small thing, but I like it when the symbiote suit produces black webbing made out of its own skin rather than it just making the same kinds of white webs. I just think it distinguishes it from the normal suit & I want more adaptations to make the symbiote webbing black.
While I agree it looks cooler, the white webbing is way easier to see when it's dark. and considering how this is a videogame, visual clarity trumps cool visuals. Imagine how annoying it would be to not know how webbed an enemy is, just because the level takes place in like a tunnel or something.

I really hope we don't end up fighting Peter as Miles, I feel like it would take away from Peter's character. Having the strength of character to do the right thing is a massive part of who Peter Parker is and it'd be really detrimental to have him completely lose control to the symbiote. I'd say, at most, Miles has to tackle Peter off of nearly-dead Kraven and Peter comes to his senses immediately, then you have a mission where he and Miles work together to remove the suit. Maybe Peter's stuck in the middle of the room trying to tear the suit off while you're playing as Miles trying to make loud noises to help him and avoiding the occasional symbiote tendril as the suit itself lashes out. Making it a full-blown boss fight would just be a step too far imk because, if Peter is so lost that he's attacking his friends, then he's completely surrendered to the symbiote. Also, if it's Miles who has to force the suit off Peter, Venom's vendetta will he against Miles which just doesn't work imo because Venom is and always will be a Peter Parker villain.
While i agree with the last part of venom being a peter villain, i do think that them veering a bit off and having miles fight peter would be a VERY nice change. Some changes just feel nice once experienced. Later on we can have classic Peter vs Venom.
@@WilliamButcher26566 idk, I feel like the symbiote is often looked at as something which takes complete control of the user against their will, which it really isn't. It enhances existing emotions, especially aggression, but it can't make you do anything you'd never once consider otherwise. Peter has 100% considered maiming or killing some of his villains when they went too far (though he'd never normally do it), so the symbiote can feed that impulse, but Peter would never even consider attacking Miles unless something really, really bad happens between them so the most it could probably make Peter do is take one angry swing at Miles before immediately regretting it, more likely he'd just snap at or try to fire him

I feel like someone like Unicron should be treated like Galactus, a villain built up through multiple movies and serve as an endgame villain. The director said it himself that Unicron would be built up but we are seeing him being introduced here in this movie before we get a proper threat with him.

@@Venom_eddie123 Yeah, my favorite part of the comics always was how "Venom" simply is the name of the symbiote, instead of a being born out of Eddie and the symbiote bonding. Or how their relationship was a wacky sitcom couple riff, rather than basically a metaphor for drug addiction. Oh, how about Cletus constantly biggering with his symbiote, rather than being completely bonded with it to the point that Carnage refers to itself as "I" instead of "we". But I guess all of that is meaningless, because they lifted the "turd in the wind" line from the source material. In case you can tell, all of that was sarcasm.
You know I was gonna duck out when you stopped talking about Spider-Man 2, but... uh... you made me feel bad. So way to get me to stay through two topics I didn't really care that much about. Except the whole celebrity voice cast in Transformers One. I heard about that and was like "COME ON!!! Seriously?!" Like Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime? Next you'll be announcing a Mickey Mouse Movie with Chris Evans as Mickey Mouse. Like stop replacing these characters with ICONIC voices with celebrity voices! Like Hemsworth has an awesome voice. Doesn't mean he should voice Optimus Prime!
I guess my comment is - if the bulk of Venom's storyline has to be moved to SM3 - then do that. Have SM2 be the buildup to Peter destroying the relationships in his life & hanging up the mantle to Miles - to make time to fix the damage & step away from being a hero. Don't rush through it all in 1 game, especially without an Eddie Brock nor Harry Osborne in SM1. Venom NEEDS time to properly work. It needs to feel dramatic. It needs to feel powerful. It needed to feel effective.
Harry as Venom works in this game but not for the reason you think. Symbiote in this game is basically a keep Harry alive thing so it naturally puts Peter in the situation of I gotta take the symbiote off of him to dave the city but that will possibly kill him. Classic Spidey dilemma right? Then Harry will inevitably die to his disease which will drive Norman mad into Gobby for game 3. I feel this makes the most sense especially because of Norman's attempts to cure Harry, the entire main plot of the first even happens with Martin Li and Devils Breath. So this entire Insomniac story hinges on how Harry and his diseases affects the people of his life and the rest of the city
The difference between casting Alan Tudyk as Optimus Prime compared to Chris Hemsworth can be described as “that’s an interesting casting choice!” Versus “that’s an…interesting casting choice.”
It felt like the Symbiote was the antagonist, with its host (Harry) being a passive villain and not actually hating Peter. I really didnt find it compelling at all when they went Web of Shadows lite with Venom wanting to take over the world. Venom is best when the symbiote hates spiderman and the host hates Peter. Insomniac should've made it so that it's more small scale and personal, with the symbiote hating Spiderman for rejecting him and its host hating Peter Parker. Instead, the symbiote's host doesnt hate spiderman and does not pose a threat to him or his loved ones. I never really felt like Mary Jane's life was under threat. I also find it cheap that they teased carnage as DLC or for Spiderman 3. Venom was eliminated at the end of the game, but shouldnt that also eliminate the symbiote that Cletus Cassidy stole from the train? The game should have been longer in my opinion, with the flame missions being part of the main storyline. That way, we could still have a compelling venom story, with a surpirise villain Carnage slaughtering innocent people; both spidermen and Venom would have to set aside their feud to team up to take on a much larger and powerful threat that is Carnage. That way, Insomiac could have avoided doing Web of Shadows lite, and wrapped up the symbiotes in this gane to clear the board for Otto and Norman as villains in the next game. Also, Norman asks Otto if he knows the identity of the Spidermen. I know Otto knows that Peter is spiderman, but he doesnt know that Miles is also Spiderman, right? I hope I articulated that well enough to get my points and suggestions across. I had lots of fun with the gameplay and the first 2/3 of the story, but the last third is what really soured things for me. As an aside, I know they took inspiration from "King in Black" with Venom's wings, but it felt kinda jarring to me with how they set-up his character. The Venom fight against Kraven is when the story peaked, and I'd argue that it declined from there. I'd like to see a Venom with Spider powers; a Venom who can wall crawl and webswing since the symbiote copied Spidey's powers. I have a lot of thoughts; I'd love to know if you agree or disagree at all.
