No need to open up the cassette like that, just push the tab to open the front flap, then insert a pen in the small hole to move the tape wheel enough to access the tape, pull the tape out and cut out the bad section and tape it the way you did.
Awesome, thank you! I acquired Braindead on VHS, which had a spot of mold on the tape. I stupidly put it in and fast forwarded it to rewind it to get rid of it... tape snapped in two! Thanks to your video I was able to repair it. Thanks so much!
Oof now there's mold in your VCR and it can infect other tapes. Just get a spare VCR dedicated to cleaning mold. Look it up on RU-vid how to do it. Once it's clean then you can put in your everyday use player
There are ways to remove those seals on the side flawlessly and them NOT know you did it :P. Not easy but I have done it back when video rental stores existed, I had a tape of Honey I Shrunk The Kids break on me and it broke toward the end at credits so I knew no one would know if I fixed it, So I carefully peeled off the seal, It had some silver print under it saying it was removed,So I took black spray paint, masked over the print, then put some on the back of the seal, glued it back on after fixing the tape..BOOM,Done LOL. Those days are long gone now though.
Thanks so much for making this video! I recently followed all your steps when I fixed the tape inside a VHS! But I fixed a VHS of Almost Famous instead :)
We still have a Family Video rental store around. A few blocks down from it is a Goodwill thrift store. They both carry these old VHS tapes and are cheap.
@BmxBrandon2 i have a question. See, i’ve Recently started collecting vhs tapes, but most of the cut in and out of the video making it unwatchable. If you know what I’m talking about, Could you tell me how to fix it?
I have a video tape from my way birthday party, when I was younger I think I played it too many times and it messed up the tape. Will this work to repair It?
I have a VHS tape that I need to fix but the screw in the middle is different. It has only three sides and is more triangular shaped as opposed to the cross shaped screws that require a Phillips screwdriver. Do you know what type of screwdriver I need for that?
So that's how I do it you get a pair of sharp scissors a rubber band and wrap it around the video tape the keep the flapper door open then you cut away the bad tape and that's how you do it . Ed thank you
You won't lose a scene from your video tape by splicing it will you? If it is an old home video such as an old wedding video, birthday party video ETC you would lose a scene from that if you spliced it would you?
Yes it does but since the tape plays pretty fast maybe there is only like 2 or 3 seconds of movie that were actually lost based on the amount of tape that he cut.
How I splice my video tapes you take a simple rubber band you wrap it around the video to keep the flap open and you just cut the bad section opening up the whole video it could cause more damage I've been fixing videotapes now for 6 months from watching these videos it teach me how to splice tapes some a different so we're not . DO YOU KNOW MIXERS WHO MIX MUSIC ? LIKE BEN LIEBRAND ? HE'S EVEN MORE TIMES WORLD CHAMPION MIXING. YOU HAVE FOR AUDIO AND BIG WEELS TAPE PLAYERS. A METAL PLATE WHERE YOU CAN PUT THE TAPE IN AND CUT THE TAPE IN PICES. YOU HAVE TRUBELE WITH YOUR WAY OF "SAVING" THE TAPE. TAKE THE SITE NOT SO MUTCH TAPE AWAY AND BUT IT ON THE BIGIN OF THE WEEL. OF MAKE SOME BACK UPS FROM YOUR TAPES. THE TAPE IS EVEN SMALER THEN THE VIDEO TAPE. AND THE TAPE CAN STUK IN THE VIDEO. ORE STUK ON OTHER PARTS OF THE TAPE.
Make sure to put peanut butter sandwiches in the Cassette Player for proper lubrication while sliding tapes in and out. The mainstream media wants you to put your tape in dry.
