Also as we learn later, that other ship Kenobi is flying to lead them away has a functioning hyper drive. So either abandon the larger ship and everyone pile into the smaller craft to escape, or cannibalize its drive for parts to fix the hyper drive on the larger ship. Consistency in a long term series definitely can become problematic if you are not careful. Like the Time Turner in Harry Potter could solve so many issues that come up later in the series, but is never used again.

I think the sequels just complicated the entire saga with force healing and also ruined luke skywalker as a character

Despite the comedy of this video I wanted to mention sth that might help you understand this situation better, if you are curious Jaby. My biggest issue with these Disney Lucasfilm stuff is that they are borrowing some elements from the lore and without any further explanations or exploration suddenly they abandon it like it meant nothing. In George's era of Star Wars so many things had its own explanation. For example in the source materials (or to be exact in Brotherhood Novel, if I'm not mistaken) they established why Qui-Gon didn't survived the stabbing and they did an amazing deep dive into his motivations and beliefs. Qui-Gon was one of the few Jedi who truly believed and relied on "The Will Of The Force". He believed everything has a purpose through the force, and a true Jedi must surrender their will to the force. And that's why when he got stabbed he didn't try any force healing or even clinging to life. He simply chose to let go and surrendered himself to the force. Or another example about how Obi-Wan did aged so quickly during those 9 years till he eventually became the older Alec Guinness version, there is a full explanation in one of the best Star Wars Novels called: Darth Plagueis by James Luceno. In that book he explains how living on the sand planet of Tatooine makes ppl age faster than normal, due to its twin sun system and their gravitational pull. Look, many sucj things in Star Wars has some sort of definition but not on Disney Lucasfilm era. Which unfortunately leads to more mockery and confusion of the audience.

I'm not sure what the brotherhood novel is. Maybe it's part of the new Canon, but in Legends, at least Qui-Gon died because getting stabbed by a lightsaber is fatal. No one can survive a lightsaber through the chest. We do have people who remained conscious or active for a short period after getting stabbed, Qui-Gon himself among them, but it was always a fatal injury unless they could receive immediate medical help. Force healing not being counted as it was nowhere near strong enough to treat such a critical injury in a short enough period of time. Well, except for maybe Cade's healing, but that as a whole other thing. Also, you don't need in-universe explanations for Obi-Wan's advanced aging. It's just common sense. Everyone knows extreme environments, and emotional trauma accelerates aging.
@mjdmjd02
@mjdmjd02 Год назад
i think force healing was already discovered during the prequels, it's just that obi-wan couldn't do it, and you just can't do it to yourself (Qui-Gon was an expert on the living force so he probably could do it if it was the other way around)
@corruptangel6793
@corruptangel6793 Год назад
It's literally explained in TROS to be a simple transfer of lifeforce. I seriously doubt it would be hard for Jedi to learn. Yes, they would have known. TLJ makes it clear that Yoda has read the books with the technique, and there's no way he wouldn't have trained the rest of the Jedi to use such an ability.

My understanding of why Qui-Gon didn't show up, or chose not to, until the end of the series is because Obi-Wan was still trapped in the past. He was consumed by guilt, by his failure with Anakin, by everything that had happened with the Empire which he was unable to stop. He wasn't living in the present. He was going through the motions of life, but not really living. Only at the end when he accepts that the future still has hope is he able to stop wallowing in misery and move beyond his guilt and start connecting with the people and the world around him. Once that happens, Qui-Gon feels Obi-Wan is now ready, and able to connect with the Force on a deeper level.
@corruptangel6793
@corruptangel6793 Год назад
Didn't TCW explicitly state that he CAN'T appear because his training was incomplete? That's why he could only ever talk.
@andrewcabral963
@andrewcabral963 Год назад
But Yoda told him at the end of Ep 3 that he would teach him how to communicate with Qui Gon and 10 years later nothing came of that Obi Wan just becomes Jake Skywalker he’s just depressed and broken he buries his lightsaber in the middle of the desert and he disconnects himself from the force why he lives in a fucking cave in the middle of nowhere he has all the time and place to use the force to talk to Qui Gon without any imperials watching him from a distance?

I don't think is ok just to let it go.. these people don't do what they do for free, that's their work and they make lots of money with that and why not to do things correct so we can enjoy it without plotholes they create themselves?? I couldn't just enjoy Kenobi just for an emotive final scene or Bobba Fail for a good starting storyarch gone to the drain at the end, both were poorly done with a few scenes or appearances to make us feel good, for me a waste of time.. they do it cause they don't have to make the effort, fan service is always there to patch things up.. fortunately last year we had Andor to have hope things can be done right.. keep rocking and stay safe..

IMHO it seems not so coincidental that a series like Andor which has the least to do with an OT/PT character is so much better. I think that the producers (bean counters) are constantly trying to milk the nostalgia button and it is destroying any creative ability where it exists.

5:45 Absolutely not. Abandoning consistency is literally the worst idea I've ever heard for storytelling. A throw-away line is OK to mess up when dealing with a large universe, especially when you can cover it up with some excuse or justification. An additive retcon. However, critical plot points or significant elements that affect the story should NEVER be just accepted as okay. DO NOT become the Last Man. Besides, Rey didn't discover force healing. They were in the books she stole in TLJ, and Yoda reveals to Luke that he's read them.
@draykohunter6805

May 2023 bring all of you good health, peace of mind and joy. The sequels were dreck, with the Rebel Alliance being portrayed as morons, Rey being ridiculously OP from day one & Luke shown to have been a failure. The Kenobi series seemed like a natural product of this "f ck it!" mentality. It felt rushed, much of it made little sense and added very little to the saga. I don't think we should give whomever is responsible that much slack. If they show us they couldn't care less about their products/our memories, then we shouldn't care about their output either. I haven't watched Andor yet, but I'm happy most fans seem to like it. Perhaps I will give it a try.

2:07 You know what I do to cope with that? I don't take any of this that seriously. If a single "what if they did this instead of this" scenario that you didn't think of until someone else pointed it out to you is enough to change your perception of a movie/TV show that you initially liked, then the problem isn't with the show.

Rey didn't discover force healing. Doesn't lore say Sidious' master, Plagueis, "discovered" it?
@corruptangel6793
@corruptangel6793 Год назад
Force healing has been around for thousands of years in Legends. It was a well-known and practiced art. It was just nowhere near as broken as in the Sequels, nor did it work the same way. In Canon, it was in those books Rey stole in TLJ and Yoda confirms to Luke that he's read them, meaning not only has force healing been around for a long time, but Yoda knew about it. Darth Plaguies discovered midi-chlorian manipulation. That was a whole other thing.

@@AntonesPap No, I said that Obi Wan was garbage tier prequel nonsense. Because Obi Wan is a prequel to the original Star Wars film. You do realize that word is not exclusive to those crappy movies. Any film or series that takes place at a time prior to the original is a prequel. Rouge one is a decent prequel, Solo is a rolling trash fire of a prequel. House of the Dragon is a GOT prequel.
