I remember playing back in high school in around 2003 or so (was 15 or so at the time). Pretty wild times when I heard that Kings' forward pack weighed 40kg over or under that of the wallabies forward pack at the time.

Yes we have but - in Australia - it is hard to find crowds as big and as tribal as private school rugby. Like it or loathe it, it draws massive attention and crowds. We covered league in Series 2, NZ rugby in Series 3 and 5, basketball in Series 4. We are looking at overseas options but our research has proven that despite football (soccer) appeal worldwide, it doesn't get played in front of large crowds at school. Same with UK rugby, most schools were a bit embarrassed when we approached some of them, as their crowds consisted of 4 parents and a dog. Different culture.

@@OnionTelevision I suppose I knew the answer before I asked really, I've never seen school crowds like that in the UK even at the highest standard. Even with the Kiwi schools they didn't get anything like that. You should, however, look at BUCS Super Rugby in the UK - it's University level, but they get absolutely enormous crowds and train like professional set-ups, it'd be really interesting to see how they go about things. Do AFL footy crowds not get anything like this? I know Scotch and Melbourne Grammar play that huge yearly game

sophie bain yeah it was actually really fun once you learn how to code and build stuff. The assessments were little tasks that you had to get the robots to do and our teacher pretty much let us get the tasks done with any method we could think of.

To be fair to you, it’s a Scottish Heritage School and the highlanders war chants are pretty similar to the Maoris. Despite being from opposite sides of the world the two cultures share a lot of similarities from tattoos, to chants and warrior culture.

Some but the culture is mainly union because of class divides going back centuries, but they exist although mostly not as successful

Private school students play school union on Saturday and club league on Sunday, and vice versa for public schools. Thats what I did.

I Really Really neon johae nudgee have been handing out “academic scholarships” for their rugby sides long before any other school was doing it. That’s why they have so many premierships. Others schools are now following suit and has evened up the playing field.

We approached Southport but they weren't interested. Ironically, they won the premiership when we filmed Series 1 with Nudgee (joint first) and then first last year when we filmed with BBC. The school needs to give permission obviously as it is big undertaking - some schools like the promotional benefit, others are more conservative, which is their choice.

I am sure there is little wrong with school boy rugby, Australia just needs quality coaches, the national game is hopeless...technically they are out classed almost every time... even by smaller faster teams. In this episode we saw the mindset having been totally ignored and young egos braking up the team performance. Thats a real shame... Mindset is coached at every practice...
