Join us as we dive into the heart of the Philippines to witness the sheer power and determination of Filipino powerlifters at a local competition. Despite often being physically smaller than their Western counterparts, these athletes showcase incredible strength and resilience. But what's the secret behind their formidable power?
In this video, we explore the possibility that the strength of Filipino athletes goes beyond physical capabilities-it's a reflection of a resilient spirit shaped by a rich history of overcoming challenges.
It's also about the heart, spirit, and determination to rise above expectations. This is a celebration of the Filipino spirit in sports-a testament to the enduring power of resilience and dedication.

We Filipinos are strong due to our ethnic diversity and hardworking mentally that represents our entire culture. I’m a powerlifter, and the strongest Filipino in powerlifting that I know is Jonathan Cayco, a 93kg powerlifter.

What's the temperature there? Is it hard to workout in the humid heat?
@Expat_Philippines

Yes it's very humid here where we train. No air conditioning. Yes it's hotter in the spring and summer...I drink about a gallon of water per day when training.

I think its not the body builders who are strong like here in Cordillera Philippines the socalled "comboy" man payed to haul vegetables are strong maybe if they have just training in proper lifting they can beat most body builder

The 'bodybuilder' guy looked like an average teenager in the united states who has only trained for a few months lol.
@Expat_Philippines

That's an exaggeration
@chancefluke7833
@chancefluke7833 6 месяцев назад
@ExpatTruckerPinoy I'm not even kidding one bit. These guys look like an average 16 year old who just started lifting. Plus, sitting on a chair for squats is NOT a squat, I almost laughed out loud when I saw that. By the way I'm 32, and have only lifted from 17-19 and from 26-27. So even with over 4 years off training, without going to the gym at all and I'm more defined and have better muscle bellies than any of these guys. The high schoolers I went to school with in San Diego, and now the ones I see here in Colorado at the gym are way more defined and actually stronger than these guys already
@chancefluke7833
@chancefluke7833 6 месяцев назад
@@Expat_Philippines oof...and it's a smith machine...I didn't even notice that as I was looking at the chair lol. Teach these guys how to do things correctly!
@Expat_Philippines
@Expat_Philippines 6 месяцев назад
@chancefluke7833 Maybe you should try to teach them, see their reaction lol...It's not a hardcore competitive work your whole life, compete with your neighbor, and ship your mom off to the nursing home and leave your brother on the street type of culture...Sure you understand.
@chancefluke7833
@chancefluke7833 6 месяцев назад
I mean....you could make the argument that since they aren't working thier whole life they could potentially have more time to train? The reason I only have 3 years total under belt in my 32 years of life is because I've been too busy taking care of family as a caretaker so they didn't have to go into a home, while working full time on top of that, sometimes 84 hours per week. So I don't really see your point to how that would affect how strong they could get, especially when I compared them to teenagers who haven't even had time to mature yet. But pound for pound they are doing well, besides not knowing how to squat without a smith machine, or chair lol. I'm glad you made the video though, cheers.

Stop overpraising and fooling Filipinos. No matter how you overpraise us, most of us won't fight for the USA in its war against China. We are not strong in international wars. You Americans should be the ones fighting and show us how it is done. We will just watch.
@Expat_Philippines

How am I "over praising"? I'm giving respect to my son's culture. There's groups out there trying to pimp your women...Do you live in America now?
@Expat_Philippines
@Expat_Philippines 5 месяцев назад
So what, there's less value of a group and culture if they are not as good at killing in war ?? This is a very carnal outlook.
