How Strong Does Rudeus Get ? (SPOILERS)

I totally agree with you. At first I was a bit frustrated at how Rudy never seemed to be the strongest person in any one place when ti felt like it mattered (unless he had the Mark I or the Mark III with him), but I ended up really appreciating that his main ability was to make allies that would follow him to the ends of the six faced world because they trust him implicitly. Besides, we saw what a Rudeus consumed by vengeance and a drive to become stronger looks like and it’s not pretty.

Glad to have you back Natalie. I would also add for the foresight that Rudius has still required a lot of training for Rudius to really utilize it as well as he did.

He also gets the 100 miles eye but you can say that is not something that helps him in battle, also he learned gravity magic when he was fighting the north god. I love that he is never seen as op, everyone knows a weak side of him, his family knows how mentally frail he is for example, even when the Laplace factor is said to be the reason of his huge mana pool, orsted makes it clear that he would only have a little more mana than normal if he didnt train as a child, so nothing is given without effort, nice to see you back Nat, the other day we had a little discussion about Subaru but you know i love you haha hoping to see you more often and i hope everything starts to get better

Rudeus getting the eye without working for it is symbolic for him being drawn into a Faustian deal. The fact that he got it so easily should have been off-putting, but he continued to trust Hitogami because he didn't see what was going on. It's also symbolic that this seeming holy grail handed too him doesn't turn out too useful as he gets better. It would have been much more useful if he'd stopped improving and taken the lazy way out, but he got the better of his situation and has grown past it. His illicitly-gained power is now only a trifle compared to the skills and abilities he's gained from his own hard work.

I love power scaling discussions because the answers on how strong the characters are and the reasonings on why they are that Strong are always interesting even when you're trying Power scale non-combat focused stories you can Still power scale but instead of asking who is the strongest character in a fight you can just ask who is the smartest character or even who is the best at a sport you can basically always ask a power scaling question and always get an interesting answer.

I love the power armor. One of my favorite side things was when he rescued those two girls from the giant lizard in spectacular fashion while in the armor. I'm also just a big fan of things like Iron Man too 😜

I think the reason why I love power scaling so much or at least power scaling discussions is because it promotes in depth thinking and I just like thinking about things in depth in general even if the question isn't all that important.

In regards to teleportation spells, it goes a little bit further than having access to the network I think. He is quite skilled in magic circles such as to summon things, and I got the impression he can create temporary teleportation circles with them, but I might be misremembering this and these might have been given to him by Orsted.

Always nice to have a video and I agree with your opinion at the end about rudeus being strong but not overpower in his world it is one of the aspects of mushoku tensei I like most

I love that the whole classification for MT magic system is basically a framework arbitrarily created by people, not an actual rules baked into the rules of the universe. General populous don't understand magic fully and it is currently being reaserched, so people create rules and frameworks based on observation, that make magic easier to grasp, but are not always entirely accurate. That's why i like it more than something like HxH system, that feel too game-like to be a naturally emerged thing.

For real though I love how maganote balances his characters. Weaker foes sometimes win through tactics, I also love how swordsmen are almost always stronger then mages from any close combat sense

7:53 when he rescues Roxy I thought it was stated that he used to the emperor level spell absolute zero. And it was explained that emperor level magic was primarily a combination of multiple weaker level spells at an insanely high level.

I think its really great how Rudy isnt so overpowered that nothing is a challenge but hes more advanced because of his thought process when it came to magic rather than the blessing of a god or whatever Like yes he can cast incantationless magic but others can too if taught at an early age, he has a great magic capacity but so do others like Sylph (less magic than him but still), hell he cant even use healing magic incantationless which is a nice touch to make him less op I loved it how he went to the rank of 7th in world powers with all of his friends help. It feels less like a friendship conquers all plot device and more like he earned that ranking by being the person he is and working as hard as he did. It feels really deserved in my opinon A quote ill never forget from the LN which perfectly sums this up was: Rudues taking about becoming one of the world powers- “But I’m certain that I didn’t become one only on my power alone.” Ruijerd-“That power might be yours as well.” Beautiful line

I love your final analysis. As a man who has been both a day laborer and the owner of a company who hires the day laborers. I find this story fascinating. I have also found to a certain extent I don’t like being a boss. But I also don’t like being a day laborer. Rudy’s story speaks to me because of this. I like to work. I like to put effort into what I am doing. But I am not interested in being bossed around. I am also not interested in being the boss.

Rudy is great. I don't think he's OP, but he is strong. I think what keeps him from being completely OP is there are characters who can get the better of him. His strength also doesn't break the rules of the world he lives in, which I think is what it means to be OP.

this is the good thing about Mushoku Tensei... rudy isn't really the most powerful being in his verse, he has his own shortcomings that kinda balance things out, unlike other shows where the mc is edgy and overpowered from the start...

At first it feels like he is OP with the Silent Casting, and the first time he blows a hole in the House, but once we see him almost get Killed by the Kidnappers this changes. Not to mention Turning Point 2 showing just how Weak he is when up against someone who is OP.

Rudeus is very powerful, but I wouldn't say OP. A lot of his power comes from his ingenuity, which genuinely is one of my favorite types of fighting abilities in characters.

I remember when i read the webnovel years ago, and i cant remember if it was stated in the novel itself, but the conclusion was that Rudy's strongest weapon WAS his networking abilities. He was strong in his own right, but what made him terrifying was the ability to network so many other powerful entities and rulers around him

its worth mentioning his magic armor mk2 i believe that fits his body like armor rather than a mech suite gives him physical abilities on the level of a saint tier swordsman it may sound over powered but saint tier is kind of the bare minimum physical abilities that is needed for him not to to insta die to physical fighters of any renown considering saint tier is basically the standard for a swordsman who is just inching into adult hood after dedicating their life to training its kind of implied that anyone with a modicum of skill can reach saint tier with enough hard work. On a completely different topic i think to many people sleep on rudis dad i think hes easily saint level being a 3x advanced tier. Considering the rock paper scissors effect between the 3 styles i think he could probably fight evenly with a saint who only practices one style.

I have a question about after the main story ended: is it possible for Hitogami to try and manipulate one of Rudeus' kids? since they were born from him is it possible Hitogami can connect to any of them like he did with Rudeus? it would be an interesting thing to see. One thing i didn't like about the probable sequel is that iirc it would be set a long time after the main series ended, so all or most of the human cast we met would be already old or dead by the time, then again i don't know what the author is planning so we would need to wait until he starts working on them, i wonder if it will take long for him to do it. Hey, beside the lives do you plan to make some videos about the episodes as they are getting released?

You did forget his armor cutting sword. Its small but it was a cool weapon. Becoming dull when cutting something soft directly but able to cleave through the hardest armor and scales like butter.

hes scaled around the emperor level in water magic as he used the emperor level water spell absolute zero when saving Roxy and i believe Badigadi does said to damage orsted you have to use emperor tier or higher magic / abilities

After the Rudeus vs Orsted fight Orsted states that some of the spells Rudues used are at the God tier level of magic so by that means Rudeus is a god tier magician

FTR "touki" = "battle aura" in the official English LN release... and pretty much the only reason why Rudeus isn't able to advance beyond intermediate Sword God style (or any sword style, for that matter) is because he can't utilize it - because he'd never be able to perform Sword of Light, the advanced technique of the Sword God style. Now just imagine how much more "OP" he would be if he could.
