Decently informative and well produced, but towards the 8 minute mark the music playing over the speaker made it difficult to appreciate and hear correctly.

DID YOU KNOW?: The word SUSHI actually refers to any dish that's made with vinegar rice, not just fish. 😋❤️🐟🍣🍚🇯🇵

0:18 that's not true Sushi or Narezushi had nothing to do with SE Asia. Preserved foods are more common in the north than in the south because in the south foods are plentiful all year round so there's little need to preserve non-fresh foods whereas in the north people have to face the winter seasons where there's very little food hence the need for preserved foods. The most likely inspiration of Japanese Sushi was from similar preserved dishes in ancient North China and Korea, they were also the regions which Japan had the most contact with historically, whereas there was almost no confirmed contact between Japan and SE Asia prior to the 16th century.

Certain history revisionists online are trying to rewrite Japanese history by linking their traditions to Southern China/SE Asia, claiming that they had a southern origin. However, both archaeology and DNA have shown that Japanese are of northern origin and are closely related to Koreans, Northern Chinese, and certain Tungusic peoples.
