i watched caedrel back then and he talked about the world meta shift too. t1 is so good at creating their own style, like when they shown 2adc bot to counter luci+nami and zeri+ lulu. i hope they cook something this year too
T1 have always been creative when it comes to draft! 2023 in particular was special because people kept on saying how t1 created the range support meta. But it was actually very different compared to the lpl teams. Theirs was moreso on play making!!
@@mvldayoshonestly i think t1's meta is a product of their overall dominance. If they arent ahead of the curve their aggressive botlane style becomes very risky and relyant on leads. Wich they get most of the time, bcs they are just better at laneing then 99% of other teams atm. This is why i think other teams just shouldnt blindly copy t1. Scaling is still one of the best ways to achieve a wincon in draft. Ofc u need a draft that can also survive early, but overall scaling is very op. There are actually so many more picks that are good in pro, that remain almost completely unpicked. Teams lack creativity and blindly copy what the good teams are doing...
@@johnpauljonesisabadass8134 Doing so allows Mid and Bot to run free which are the main carry roles. Even if Zeus is behind bro can ass pull some insane plays. Oner though if banned against does struggles from my understanding.
In fact, only Zeus can counter Aatrox with Yone. There is an analysis about this match up and mostly Aatrox has the favor (slighly more than 50% win rate on Challenger, for any rank below is Aatrox's favor) Which require extreme high level skill that on ranked game, only Challenger player can do it. But Zeus can make that happen constantly on Worlds. He is the best Top lanner 2023 without any doubt.
I agree!! At the start I said that initially t1 tried to copy other teams but after they struggled they did their own style. In quarters the Chinese teams tried to copy and creat their own bot lane range meta but it was still inferior to t1’s!
I think Caedrel summed it up well: T1 found a counter for the Worlds meta. The approach was either to go deeper in that same meta or just arrive at a full counter for that meta, in which case we haven't exactly arrived at a full circle yet, but a circle will eventually form in this perspective

I find it funny that the other teams genuinely tried T1's meta but due to the lack of experience and ideas how to play the comps they fail miserably XD
All they can do is guess the T1's meta by looking at the ban/pick. In Worlds 2023, blue side have better win rate, T1 lose every coin toss. LNG thought T1 prioritise duo marksman bot lane, saw Senna then picked Blitcrank (both good for either marksman support or tahm kench) But T1 last pick Nilah. The worst thing is, NO TEAM ARE GIVING T1 blue side, so Keria or Zeus can last pick every game. Just a nightmare for them lol

Loved the analysis and outlining what gave them the edge! I've always just heard that "T1 beat/reinvented the meta in Worlds 2023 and that's why they won" but never could really grasp what they did that differently,,, but you're explanations are super clear. 8:58 was truly a “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” Sun Tzu, The Art of War moment. Worlds 2023 was absolute CINEMA for T1. I know a lot of people who thought that T1 stomping the LPL only losing 1 game to JDG made the watching experience 'boring', but frankly I think it's more impressive than anything. It gave them the confidence to pull off some of the most memorable plays in the whole tournament and showed them that they are rewarded when they play to their strengths. It made their win feel so much more deserved.
Yeah! I enjoyed watching this worlds a ton because of how adaptive t1 was as a team. It’s easy as a spectator but imagine having to scout or play vs them! Suddenly out of nowhere you have to think about bard. The next week jinx tk. The next week senna. The next week Ashe support. You not only had to be ready for what t1 has done but what they WILL do. Master class of adaptation in tournament

Yeah it’s truly impressive. It’s a measure of trust towards keria and everyone on t1 to see the world playing melee supp and xayah kaisa then going “this is wrong I’ll play my own way”
The funny thing is that drafting for hard bot prio and using Guma and Keria to just mechanically beat down their opponents was T1's bread and butter for the entire year (fitting considering how they ultimately won), I remember after watching a couple of the first worlds games with my friend and he went "Huh... Is it just me or is T1's usual draft a hard counter into the meta rn?"
Agreed! What’s even more interesting is that t1 would draft lanes like Ashe-varus and would actually get more advantage topside! The enemy jungle would come bottom because that’s what expected and oner would be invading or ganking. But guma and keria would continue to play like oner was right behind them. This meant that for the enemy team it’s like they were playing vs 2 junglers at the same time!
You forgot about Zeus owning so much and faker carry when his kids are falling behind and how Oner can steal dragon / baron. Aswell as how oner and faker have synergy.
@@phantomhearts5577 Those are things outside of drafting and meta reading. It's worth talking about but I think that's outside the scope of the discussion
Thanks for the highly informative and educational video. Even though months have since passed after Worlds, it’s these incredibly well versed analysis that always brings me back to that Worlds hype moments.
The goal is simple. Allow bot lane to push back enemy adc and support to get plates rather than getting kills and allow Oner to roam on the top side and help Zeus get his powerspikes to take down squishy members. While Faker only has to do is babysit Oner on his jungle pathing and scale. That's why Zeus didn't pick any tank because their primary carry was Zeus and Faker who picks mostly Ori and Azir.
With what you said about T1 generating strong Lvl 1 and bot pressure, can you make a video in how they faltered in JDG games in that style. Im not saying they were bad there, but it can be seen that T1 had struggles in the Early game in the JDG Series. Notably the 3rd game where T1 narrowly win.
bro JDG is by far the greatest team that time and the heavy favorites to win worlds. even T1 shifted the meta is not easy to beat JDG tho. but because T1 shift meta strat made JDG not to play LPL playstyle but to adjust and to play for T1 playstyle the reason JDG faltered.
@@markangelobalquero7342 that is pretty doubtful, because Ruler is the best ADC in that tourney, with T1 strat literally being read by JDG. T1 faltered cause JDG read it, yet they lost not cause of the Strat. Ruler literally generated huge pressure for T1 even in Lvl1. Look at game 3, They dove T1 even though it failed, They actually read that they are losing the fight (T1 read they will lose) but they did not expect Ashe to die perhaps... Ruler knows how to fight the Aggressive Lvl1 Bot, they implemented it even...
@@nightslayer5066They lost because they tried imitating T1's meta instead of using their strengths. It was clear in the entire series. Besides, even then, they were still losing individually in most of the series
The main problem is that every team is just copying whoever is winning, instead trying to counter it. There is a counter to every style you just have to find it🤔🤔
Godamn right! T1 plays incredible without relying on the meta so much. T1 plays a comp with stronger synergies. I hate it when t1 wants to match geng by playing geng style as well. Hopefully t1 play great at playoffs 14.6 seems a good fit for their playstyle
Their draft against gen.g looks way different versus when they fight other teams. They should show the confidence they had last worlds when fighting gen.g
The best example of them getting information and prioritizing top and mid for early trades is LNG vs T1 in game 3 of worlds. When oner invaded sej's blue, we see that bot lane can safely trade and push their lane from jg being top side along with mid and top being able to take safe trades. This resulted in oner and faker nearly killing ahri level 3 and giving faker pressure mid while also setting Sej behind. It really was all calculated geniusly by Tom and the Players. Well deserved worlds win.
Have you seen my other video? I actually talk about this exactly play great eye!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kkZECOzvYiM.htmlsi=mWEmUI0F5OX-jQZO
I mentioned it briefly but vs wbg t1 changed their draft style again. This time locking in strong bot lane comboes 1-2 to give Zeus counter pick vs the shy. It’s very impressive because they were one of the few teams to actively prep vs each teams tendencies!
T1 didn't ignore the meta, the redefined it causing everyone else to change their gameplan and play comps that they are not used to just to follow. Similar to how FPX played in 2019 where they played whatever dark tech doinb had to confuse their opponents to make them play out of their comfort zones and move one step faster than the rest of the competition
The real reason is everyone on T1 (especially Guma/Keria) has a very large champ pool, even later in the playoffs when other LPL teams start to adapt their draft. BLG vs WBG for example, every time they play something like Bard or Ashe it’s just a shitshow
If you have the best support in the world, you can create a new meta in bot lane anytime...most of their success in creating the new meta was mainly due to Keria pulling out these support picks that works for their advantage...
This is such a great vid explainign how T1 shifted de meta completly, really deserves a like and subscibe. I recomend you to watch "Pirámides al 13.19" by Cabramaravilla, he's an spanish analyst and that video is an indept view of how world's meta evolved from playin all the way to finals, youtube automatic subtitles aren't great, but they help to understand.
I just watched! I was very impressed by his editing, knowledge, and story telling. I think English speakers are missing content creators like that. I will do my best to fill that gap!
I think adc will remain strong! One time mages bot were op and I think the community didn’t like it so riot will prob make sure it doesn’t happen again
I think a big part of it too was that they thought the meta didn’t make sense! In the vid there was a translation of Keira’s thoughts where he said that he was confused why people were picking melee supports. That he wouldn’t want to play melee vs the top side meta
Yeah still is GenG>T1>LPL>GenG kekw , I’m a huge T1 fan but this is the reality at least in my opinion they can win 2024 also if is not GenG in finals kekw
Hey man, the content is pretty good but the editing is the worst i've seen on youtube in a long time. The actual information (like the picks, or what keria is saying about a certain pick) flashes on the screen for 1 second, but then there's long takes of the exact thing you're saying in the middle of the page and random illustrations. It also has a very static cutting rhytm. I understand it's easy to edit like this but it makes for a borderline unwatchable video, which is a shame cause the stuff you're saying is very interesting. Please re-consider editing your own stuff, or change styles to something more substantial.
all you need to do was ban aatrox, rell and rumble. rito kept azir and orianna in meta cos faker can only play those and ahri. rito wants t1 to win worlds. cos lck wievers are dropping its all about money boys. there is no world t1 wins against that lng nor jdg
they put blg in game 5 but I dont think 2023 Geng can win against Lng or Wbg either, t1 style is just good against these 2 teams which makes their worlds run easier
