The Aleuts are one of the small peoples of Russia. Only 300 representatives of this ethnic group live in our country. The total number in the world makes less than 2000 people.
Initially the Aleuts lived exclusively on the Aleutian Islands. The people were found exactly here within the Great Northern Expedition in the first half of the 18th century by manufacturers of the Russian Empire.
Trades people rushed to the islands, they were interested in plenty of precious furs that the local population had. But relations between the Aleuts and Russian manufacturers were not set immediately. The indigenous people did not like the newcomers. There were constant armed conflicts, and the Aleuts went to any tricks to get rid of the persistent attention of the strangers.
