IMHO flanker need two things fixed in order to be good: 1. Flight model. There are several researchers on youtube and a bugreport on a forum if someone wants to dive into details, but in short, it looses 1.5-2 times more speed in subsonic turns than it should. It won't become an overpowered dogfighter if tgis issue would've been adressed, it'll be just competitive as it should be 2. Radar. As you've mentioned, it's atrocious rn. Gaijin should increase its scan speed and/or give it better hmd range. Better hmg rande is surely unrealistic, but there are a lot of unrealistic features in wt regarding acm modes If the Gaijin actually fix one of these issues, the su27 would become bearable, with both it'll be good, but not op at all
Are the AAM4 supposed to be shorter range than Amraams? The in game stat cards says they should have better range than Amraams. I guess it's another one of Gaijin's little lies on the stat cards
@@nimbal3304 The problem with that is that the AAM-4 may never receive a buff of after a looooooong time (magic 2 an huge exempt, and we don't talk about MSL that are literally copy past of another and never being changed)
It took them nearly 2 months to acknowledge that it has 2 motors, how much so about the maneuverability and its range. Honestly, it could probably get to that range if only they fixed its speed as I dont know why it really doesn't accelerate or reach its IRL speed of mach4-5

My yap on the wt sim Reddit might be a good read and some of the discussion was reasonably insightful. However purely about player numbers the lobby types that get created most often are the historical(or mostly historical setups), and while that would be great if we had the numbers I think top tier sim really needs more blues on the red side. I.e US(potentially plus Israel) Vs the rest, but unless they remove the freedom for players to play their own preferred match up this won't fix anything as the avg player probably prefers to log on and chill farming full redfor teams with little challenge.
I don't have much experience with WarThunder, I find the casino-mechanics used to induce players to open their wallets to be too frustrating, but I can speak a little to the issue of balance between Warsaw Pact and NATO aircraft based on how those issues have developed in the DCS community over the past decade. The biggest issue is, as you noted, that Soviet hardware has turned out to be Not All That Great, and that NATO hardware was designed to match the FEARED capabilities of Soviet hardware. Thus, NATO hardware ends up being massively overmatched against an equal number of Warsaw Pact aircraft. In the DCS community, we solve the balance issues this creates a few ways. One option is for mission designers to give Redfor more comprehensive AWACS and GCI support. More AWACS units, position them more aggressively, and give them solid air cover with AI-controlled escort fighters. At the same time as this, Blufor AWACS units end up positioned further way and/or at lower altitudes. This gives Redfor better overall situational awareness than Blufor, which helps immensely in doing the "outsmart your opponent" thing. Another option is to ensure that Redfor always outnumbers Blufor at the start of a match. This can be done by limiting player slots on Blufor, limit the quantity of AMRAAM-capable jets, as well as by augmenting Redfor with AI units. Related to this, many mission designers make use of scripts which will adjust the number of Redfor fighter and SAM units based on the number of Blufor players, or based on the ratio of red/blue team player slots occupied. The final option, one which the DCS community has rejected out of hand, is to put together "improved performance" versions of the Redfor hardware which match their advertised capabilities, rather than their underwhelming real performance.
I think the real fix we neee to be asking for is the option to create our own mixed nation lobbys instead of them being auto populated by merging 2 dead games (games were the whole red team has left) on whatever map gajin feels like sticking it on (often maps with no terrain that no one wants to play. Everyone has iff in the top 2 highest br brackets so its not like we cant identify enemies. when there is a auto generated mixed lobby it tends to fill up very fast with more players then you see in any other server. Obviously its possible because they auto generate sometimes, so just give us the ability to create mixed servers for the top 2 or 3 br brackets.
You know and one thing that I think can be added to sim which would make everybody's gameplay better is to allow everybody to use push to talk because you can have a squadron on the opponent side just two planes literally trash everything😂 Communications key especially when it comes to games like this
There's a makeshift way to fix HMD lock for longer ranges: Switch to IRST, lock, then switch back to Radar Yes it is clunky, but it actually works; now you can lock on with HMD beyond 9km
I think even if the R-77 was 100% equal to the A-120 you’d still see red side struggle. There is just not enough red side players. Even before fox 3s where added you would still see red side have less players and over the course of the match you’d see the red side players leave causing more to leave from the teams becoming more US dominant and harder to play. Even worse now with fox 3s being in game. IMO red side needs incentives to play that side otherwise the balance changes won’t do much
@@MrRobschnieder Red sides issue is a combination of factors making a shitstorm. Red sides FM are mid at best with the best FM being Bluefor aircraft in minor nations that not many people have. Red side avionics are dogcrap. The 29SMT is fine but outside of that the 27SMs radar is awful, and the J-11A has both the awful radar and the SPO-15. The R-77 is kinematically worse however i don't think it'd be this unbalanced if Redfor had better FM and radars that scanned quicker.
If they just added AI to teams that are imbalanced it would be a huge improvement even if the AI are as gimped as they are. Putting AI on the team means they’re on the enemy’s radar and have to treat them as a threat like they would a real player. That means they’re no longer focusing down on the one or two real players left in the match which gives them a fighting chance to still have an enjoyable match. Conversely it gives the blue team something to shoot at when the enemies were so few in number before. Please talk up this solution as it’s an incredibly easy one for gaijin to implement and it would help alleviate the frustration being caused by team imbalances on all sides.
they need to increase map size and add more and more intricate ground strike like better SAMS for airfields, provisional airfields further up tankers and better convoys that don’t glitch under the floor

If you manually loft the MICA EM and it launches straight without wiggle, it actually has some range now... I wish they fix the loft on the MICA and the 530D, and thrust vectoring in general
could give the game mode resources that drop depending on the cost of planes and equipment. If one side has a jet that costs half as much as the opponent the game should reflect this. cheap planes with less to learn means you can produce more fighters, give them more people and or reduce how much the plane charges the resource pool. same with missiles, full loadout of fox 3 should not cost the same as having 2 fox twos. encourage people to have a mixed loadout could fix 2 problems in 1. this might be a bad example but on areocorner the f-14 tomcat is said to be roughly 35mil, mig-23 about 6.6mil, mig-21, about 2mill... thats about 17.5 migs-21 per f-14 or about 5.3 mig-23 to f-14. im not saying that we should force blue to 1v2 all the time but i am saying that there are other ways to balance without buffing or nerfing flight models if its going to be unrealistic.
I’ve been playing 12.0-12.7 a lot lately. I haven’t really touched 13.7. Yea overall the blue team planes are easier to play rather than the red team. I’ve stopped playing the 27SM because of the radar performance and it’s very sad.
I'm using 27ERs at 27SM because 77s till not a good option, i think it's time to chineses, germans and soviets receive newer fighters, we already have a good knowledge it's time to talk with devs

Su-27SM3/ MiG 29K/MiG 29M/M2/Su-30 early/J-10A/J-11B could help bolster red side with better planes. Personally I'd like the 29K or 29M2. 8 aams and 29M would have the 9.13 FM. 29K would have a slightly worse FM then 9.13 as it weighs 600kg more.

J-11's, J14's, SU27's, SU30's backed up by all the combloc nation's MiG29's (maybe add some with Fox3's even if they didnt have them) should be a perfectly acceptable match for F18's/16s/15s/gripens. Maybe we could get North Korean MiG29s as well, which have had BVR upgrades over the years. Bluefor vs Bluefor is not immersive or interesting; red vs blue IS...just need to figure out a way to make people want to give redfor a try. I think the answer is simply making the economy better. A lot of people can really only dedicate to a single nation grind and even players from redfor nations seem to gravitate towards blue aircraft.... so many chinese players in US aircraft since the servers went down in china, as an example.
Problem is there is very little if ANY positives by playing redfor right now, sure you have 27ETs in mildly said LIMITED quantities, but the problem is still here, worse fms, radars (Sure Yak141 has one of the best but seriously?) worse missiles (If we don't take into account dogfights and or battles that are within 3-4km range) worse top speed, not to mention that the good radar planes (MiG29) has "only" six missiles, but the bad radar plane (Su27) has ten soon to be twelve missiles. Me as a USSR main (that just got into sim but does not even dare touch 13.0+) ONLY play USSR for the aesthetics purely (And also I guess because IRST is cool same is not being a US fanboy, no offense)
Say what you want, but I feel like the red team, specially Russia, would be doing better if the nog-31 was in game already, the sheer power of the zazlon radar + the missiles it gets, r-77s;R-33S (not mentioning the r37M because I feel like Gaijin wouldn't add hypersonic missiles this soon) would allow the red team to have a better time in the BVR. You'd sacrifice some maneuverability for speed and missile loadout
Doesn't matter in sim, the maps are too small to contain the current top tier jets. The blue side still has faster radars and better awareness so they pick apart the enemy planes and push to the enemy side just by default when fighting and then you're taking off right into a fight. The MiG-31 is too heavy and too slow, the missiles will only help so often and in the process will just be annoying as hell for RB.
Missiles are in the same places where they were it seems. Little bit of an improvement wont do anything at all. There is too much of a difference between the sides. So sim is still pretty much play usa or be the underdog.
Need to wait a Su-27 with an adequate radar. Untill that I am just forcing myself to play. No reason to pick it if you can play something else which will be more enjoyable
I mean, I am not gonna say that any missile is useless at top tier *COUGH COUGH R-77* but, when a certain missiles reacts heavily to chaff, has worse agility than the MICA-EM which kinda makes the EM a straight upgrade... And that you technically can get WAY better kills with another certain missile *COUGH COUGH R-27ER* there is something to be said.
So many things in game are not even close to accurate or historical so there is no real reason to not balance because of it. I would rather have some historical inaccuracies and a playable game with populated servers then the occasionally playable/populated air sim we currently have
I want the f16 am pretty badly. Grinding France for at now. Sure I allready own the f16C and I am close tot he mirage. But I'm dutch and grew up next to a military training ground. So I had F16 fly over my head multiple times a day. And since the Belgium one has a Dutch skin on the .armer place. I'm definitely going for it

Resist US supremacy, play Red Side! ☭ 😅 Jokes aside, I have observed the same things as you. Numbers on team red are slightly better and more consistent. But even if RU, CN etc. would get a plane with better missiles, better radar better everything I think that would not create number parity, just because (and contrary to the early days), WT is a game that's mostly played by US people - and financed by them as well. Gaijin is simply scared to p+ss off the players who spend most cash in the game, and that is sad. Or in other words: The more people bomb their way to top tier in a 70$ F4S, the less likely is a positive change for any other nation.
Just make the lobbys US vs everyone else, that would balance out the player count on both teams. on f15c i get enough play on blue team but on swe gripen i would always prefer to play on red team and at the moment its hard to find a game like that reliably

I just want a larger map, more varied terrain, and more objectives that give more rewards so attackers are incentivized to attack instead of prefer to dogfight.

I’ve wondered, would adding more anti air (like pantsirs or later on s100-s300s) on the half of the red side closer to the base be a good way to make the red side more competent
I think it is more a factor of skill than performance. Bluefor had to deal with the R27ER which was so much better than the AIM-7F it didn't matter who had better flight performance or radar, if it was shot at you within the first 4-5 seconds of flight the R27 would hit first every time. That combined with the Su27 having more Fox1s than any bluefor jet made those pilots get very good at dodging and draining missiles. Once the redfor were forced to fight on a more even battleground they couldn't compete since they didn't know how to.
And those who played on both sides, what do you do with them?? Not everyone spends their life with the blue or the red... And the 27ers were certainly better but we had the multipath at 100m and what you say is false because the aim9m which doesn't make any smoke was the best missile for the blue... Before the fox 3 and the multipath nerf it was very easy to dodge the fox 1 but we already had the same problems as today with the reds, bad radars except for the smt and worse planes in dogfight.

If it was actually real AIM120A would be so horrible at longe range,not due to flight performance but terrible radar since it was weak and small and thats all according to RAF who said the Skyflashs had advantage at longer ranges and only after the AIM120B MCU it got decent...
