Im a RVIA Certified Registered Technician, I WORKED! for Lazydays RV in Knoxville TN for 3 years. Whats happening in the RV industry is whats happening in every 1st World nation in every sector of the economy, including healthcare! You have what is called Performance Based Compensation. From the top on down to lower management everyone is compensated by how little they spend out of their budget. Technicians are payed by the job, which had to get "approved" usually I had argue w/ the sales clown ( time I was not compensated for?) as to why the repair ("trouble shooting", a concept management could never wrap their head around) would take X amount of time. The quicker the repair the more techs make again the only motivation is to "get it done". Hearing the horror stories from techs who worked at the manufacturing plants in Elkhart IN. I refused to do Walk Throughs b/c I could not look the customer in the face knowing what I knew. I used to call them "Times Shares on Wheels." or as my friend would say, "capitalism is consuming itself" it saddens me ;"-(
For a new company, quality control must improve. I want to buy a New Ember trailor but will wait until prices settle and factory improves on what comes out of the building. I like the ideas and techniques of this camper.
@Pix Axe It would not be a bad idea to wait. I had a timeline/window and got one, knowing it would have some issues. I just published an opinion video piece about their quality control.
We have a new Ember 201FBQ. It is leaking like a sieve. The plumbing behind the nautilus did not have a connection that didn't leak. Some hoses were twisted and un-usable. All fittings are garbage plastic fittings. After repairing the hoses and replacing all the fittings with brass fittings - it still leaks. The dealership had to remove rubber under belly. And have been chasing endless leaks for a few days now. The leaks are so bad water came up over composite floor under the lament flooring. This water ruined lament floor- its soft and stained underneath. Quality control is nonexistant. We live in the RV. We have a bad mold problem. We hope the dealership can stop the plumbing disaster and redeem Ember.
Joe, you are one patient guy is all I can say. I am thinking Ember was supposed to be more quality built? I just looked one up, and for the price, they should be flawless in craftsmanship and use quality appliances, etc. We have been told they all have issues. A friend has a 7 year old Lance, never missed a beat, so that is a myth, probably started by and perpetuated by the rv manufacturers?, We bought a 2023 Jayco 263 RBS, a few minor issues but also appreciate the 2 year warranty. They say they doubled the warranty to get two seasons of use to track any problems that could show up? After watching tons of videos on poor rv quality, part of me regrets getting one and learning almost every one of them are not properly plumbed. Wrong fittings joining Pex and flex tubing, etc. Despite what people think, I found an outside company extended warranty that mostly kicks in after the manufacturer warranty, so after May, I will have 6 1/2 more years of coverage and can use mobil repair services and don’t have to haul it, leave it, go back, etc. I did not like warranties through the dealer, too many hoops to jump through or they void it, or make you let them do all the preventative maintenance, etc. I plan to go over all of my plumbing I can get to and use the proper fittings to join different Pex/flex to hopefully prevent the leaks that are sure to come out of this arrangement. Now I see why so many vintage campers had limited amenities. Water tank, hand pump, gas stove. Only a simple plug in to power, myou have power, lol. Thanks
I wouldn't give up just yet. Just avoid the older models. What is coming off the line today should be vastly improved. I just drove mine yesterday and got very excited and happy ready for a 5000+km trip this spring! ru-vid.com-yTN5CICl5c?feature=share
I’m amazed you got quick service! Around my parts (DFW, TX) you drop your RV off, they will call you in about 2 weeks to 2 months to tell you they’ve started and ask any questions they might have. Then in 2 weeks or longer they will tell you it’s ready to be picked up. It’s clear the person you spoke with never communicated to the technicians, that conversation was just to make you feel cared for. My reporting the kitchen outlet by the door (different RV) worked intermittently, and the bath light blinked every time you moved showed repaired. You look at the tech’s notes and it reads outlet by bed checked NTF, kitchen light checked NTF. Two months time and they found nothing, didn’t even read the issues reported. Looked elsewhere and found nothing Left it again, waited, got a call six weeks later to hear they had replaced the inverter, problem fixed… NOT.
@@edwarddabal3587 - I wasn’t thinking lying, I was thinking communication disconnect and technicians so busy, pushed so hard that they just didn’t care or have time to read the problem. I’m not sure what else would explain a kitchen and bath electrical issue and the tech writing bed outlet checked, no trouble found.
camera inside was GENIUS......my rock doesnt have a slide out....and water exact same....floor just gets blacker and more stained...my mileage on it? 4 trips back and forth from dealership has been the big trips......wait till your exoskeleton" frame whatever starts popping screw heads off.... ps....storage time is warranty time burnt....with what i see you and everyone including me saying....a strong HELL NO to storage, id run that thing like a torture test till you KNOW its right.....then again.....lol i aint running nothing atm...shoulda saved 35k+ and just bought a tent..
I hate that your experience was so bad dude. :( Yeah I will have it out in start of March for long torture tests. And the camera inside was KEY to getting the dealer on top of it.
Would it be SAFE to say RV manufacturing is not very good with all brands. We have had similar issues with our 2021 travel trailer. Until consumers stand up and demand quality the RV companies will continue produce JUNK!!!!!
I strongly suggest if you are not sure the leak has been fixed, get a good quality cover for the trailer. You are in a deep freeze area, leaks coming into your siding or roof will freeze and expand causing the inside and outside walls to buckle and is not repairable. Also, laminate flooring will bulge permanently even with small amounts of water. If you ever replace the flooring, make sure it is the vinyl plank flooring. It cannot expand even when immersed in water over a long period. Mold is your biggest problem with RVs. Since I do not go into my motorhome too much during my winter storage, I cover it after I winterize it and uncover it when I de-winterize it. I have had no leaks, but roof freezing and unfreezing during the winter can open a spot where water can come in. Mold is next. I would not buy an RV that shows any mold. Good luck.
Lets be fair... They have only been building RVs for DECADES. Can we really expect good quality with only DECADES of manufacturing? It also seems like most RV dealers have never repaired an RV before because you can usually expect to bring it back several times for the same repair. Must be because they have never fixed an RV before?
I’m considering the purchase of a 201FBQ. Any feedback on this model out there? I’m also trying to decide between the ball hitch plus a weight distribution system or an articulating hitch without a weight distribution system. Thoughts? Also wondering whether the ember is a fully four season trailer. This is a priority for us. All of the feedback about copious leaks from rain and plumbing has spooked me. Is this a systemic problem with Ember units? Anybody know? Finally do you recommend the slide topper? Why? I understood them to be problematic. Thank you. Thomas
Q: Any feedback on this model out there? A: I don't have any but the Ember Facebook groups are filled with info from owners. Q: I’m also trying to decide between the ball hitch plus a weight distribution system or an articulating hitch without a weight distribution system. Thoughts? A: It would depend on the truck. What year model do you have? Q: Also wondering whether the ember is a fully four season trailer. This is a priority for us. A: That depends on where you live. By Canadian standards, no this is a 3 season trailer, in my opinion. Some have undertaken additional insulation from the bottom. Q: All of the feedback about copious leaks from rain and plumbing has spooked me. Is this a systemic problem with Ember units? Anybody know? A: It seems to be problematic but not one specific problem. Some have the wheel well issue, some the window up top, some the slideout. Q: Finally do you recommend the slide topper? Why? I understood them to be problematic. A: Mo' gadgets, mo' problems. It was not an issue on our last trailer.. It is nice to be able to slide in and out without wiping water and leaves off the top and in the heat it helps. But i did have use a rachet strap over the awning one week when the ocean wind was hitting it just right and it was vibrating up and down.
I know. 😞 Somehow I kicked the voice tracks to the left and it annoys me to no end. But I can't just repost it since the metrics reset. I shake my head about it all the time. I wish I could fix it after I posted but I have stepped up my QC steps so that will not happen again.
Lol ... California is definitely a tattered version of its' former self but I my wife and I are affiliated with the film business and all roads lead to L.A. in that business. I have some personal business in the Bay Area too.
@@RVingWithJoe hell doc, my chickens stay dry in the hutch I built them, and I don't think they have a mold issues....ill update in a year. ps... I built there unit for 600$ with solar lighting and heat...just imagine!! it has heat!! the heat unit for a rok is 5000$..wonder why they sell them with hot water faucets and switches and don't tell us that isn't included
Sorry for the long narrative but I try to put in a detailed chapter list so you can skip to the part you want. If you jump to 13:20 "How did they fix it?" at 13:44 exactly you will see the actual text from the work order describing how they fixed it. Thanks for your comment, I tend to talk a lot. 😀😒
@@mgysgtk8835 Yes. around the wheelwell area, it seems since it only leaked when the tires started rolling. But they sealed so much in between tests, its hard to know which part for sure.
@@RVingWithJoe i have a 190MDB. I have not drove in rain. Unfortunately, it been a drought year for us. But when i lift the couch under the murphy bed, i see light. It is to the left near the naughtelist water control panel. I need to get back on that and figure out why. RU-vidr Hallin’ Ember had the same problem.
I’ll save you 23 minutes of your time....he had minor issues that took a couple trips back to the dealer and they fixed it. Just as you would expect after spending 60k buying anything. Your welcome.
Hey. Come on. *Your short and try text cannot replace the video that is worth watching and listening to every minute. The person (Joe) talking is worth watching and listening to. He talks fast enough. He gives all the details in a very factual and sensible way. He shows you whatever possible he can. He is uplifting and energizing. He does a great job, really.*
