I graduated from college this year of class 2023 and I feel like I have no idea what I’m post to do but yet scared that I won’t want to be failure or settle for something I don’t want

I feel that so much. Personally, it helps me to not view these choices as ultimate or final. Even if you commit to one path at first most of the time you can still decide to change direction later on.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. And don’t define yourself by your career. I know it’s cliche to say it but find something you love. Find something connected to your purpose. There’s a profit somewhere behind it also.

My early 20s were so tumultuous. I feel like movies and tv are starting to get real about what is actually a challenging period of life for so many people. To the 20 somethings who are struggling to figure a lot of stuff out, hang in there. Trust me, it gets better.😊

The Graduate was the first movie I’ve seen where the protagonist had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. I can’t imagine how comforting it was to kids like Benjamin Braddock in the 1960s, and especially during an era when it was pretty much unacceptable to not have an idea of what you want to do with your life.

I find it a bit funny that Dustin was 30, playing a college graduate in his early 20s, yet Anne Bancroft, as the supposedly older Mrs Robinson, was only six years his senior. Even better, Katharine Ross was playing Bancroft's daughter, yet was about eight years younger.

5:25 I enjoyed college but my major beef with the system is that professors and curriculum seem to tell you what you're supposed to do but often won't tell you how to do it. It's like, if you don't already know how to do this, we're not going to tell you. This video is right: there are steps missing. No wonder many graduates feel at loose ends.

Wow. This video came out at the perfect time for me. This morning I woke up from a dream where I messed up bad at (part-time) work and was anticipating getting fired, and lately I've been feeling really lost about what other work I should be doing. Great video.

SAME HEREEE!!! Are you me?😅 I've been making some money through teaching English online, but it's not really a job. I left jobs after 10 and 5 days of joining. Because of the politics or too much stress or too little or feeling claustrophobic having to sit at a desk all day. Idk what's going to happen for me from now on. And all my friends already have careers.

The major way the film has not aged well is how the Quarter Life Crisis has gone from naval gazing to desperate survival as there is no longer a choice between your dream and a career. It is about choosing between survival and no survival.

In 1967, I was in high school, making me about 5 years younger than Benjamin. I think this reaction was probably more of an upper middle class thing. Less well off young people had to come to grips with life a little faster because we didn’t have the safety net of generational wealth. But there were a lot of challenges for girls, as we had options due to birth control and changing gender roles that our mothers didn’t have. And one more thing about us baby boomers: our parents grew up in war time, or in a lot of cases, actually served in the armed forces. It was usually a dead end trying to talk to them about our questioning life. They either fought or worked stateside supporting the war effort and were of the knuckle down and do it “greatest generation “.
