I think because people appreciate being authentic and the raw video, especially of travels. It shows you what it's really like. Not some slick editing, and framed shots that make it look like a movie.

This is why it drives me nuts when I see comments crying about having to see an ad on a free video service. You want to see quality content without paying for it but can’t sit through a 25 second ad that pays for the content you love so much. Bring on the ads and let these people do what we love.

I think a demographic analysis would be interesting. As someone at 50 who travels abroad on major trips twice a year, I like following people closer to my age, and those who really are about the travel and less about the fancy tourism crap. You rock man, thanks for this video!

I get asked the same question. You need a job that has a flexible schedule that will allow you to travel, and then you need to work hard (really hard!) to play hard (travel.) I am working and in college full-time to help pay for travel. New to blogging and RU-vid so no income there yet. But you don't need to be rich to travel, just willing to make it a high priority and work hard when you are stuck at home!

I think it's because you come across as more authentic in your "stream of consciousness" gonzo style of travel vlogging. There are rarely, if ever, those annoying youtube edits with the voice or obvious shot setups, just you talking about what's going on or waxing philosophical. I regularly watch your videos right till the end and usually remember to thumbs up

True!! I have to turn off YT travel videos if they use drone shots to capture themselves walking in a really obnoxious way. The shots are often really nice but I just cringe too hard when people try so hard to “tell a story” with fake walking, fake poses and a “smooth” voice over 😣😖. What annoys me though is that Gabriel has relatively little subscribers and those annoying YTers millions sometimes.. ugh. I thought Gabriel wouldve had millions by now 🤭. Unfair

Really educational piece thank you for sharing Gabriel. I think it's nice to be reminded how 'normal' you are... you worked those normal jobs to save money to travel. You don't need a huge amount of money to travel etc. and don't have to be a "rich kid of Instagram". We too are making around $80 per month from Adsense so it's nice to know that maybe, just maybe we can be as big as you in a couple of years if we continue to remain dedicated :-)

Wow man, thats actually nuts how many views you get.. I know for sure that you do a lot more searchable titles than funforlouis sand ben brown e.t.c not sure if its only because of that though.. Lostleblanc really is killing :O I think his videos do have a very mainstream vibe to them which probably accounts to all those views, the music and inclusion of like mini clips of viral videos and memes e.t.c... but I do love his channel anyway. All I can say is congrats man, sticking too it really paid off!! I think thats the thing with youtube, if you are determined to never give up you will get there eventually :D You deserve everything your getting from it! People are so concerned about his retirement like geezzzz who cares! He is living the life he loves and that’s more important than having a reg job and being miserable. Plus his RU-vid channel will be up forever and as he gets more views his income will increase. I bet by the time he hits 67 which is the retirement age he will be getting more money monthly from RU-vid than a social security Check. People freak out over stuff that’s not even worth freaking out about.

RU-vid income could disappear at any moment. I wouldn’t rely on that.

Gabriel is going to inherit from his parents. He is a free man without family and dependents and doesn't have to work on regular jobs for 30-40 years to save money for retirement like most people.

Unfortunately that's the world we live in. Everybody concerned and told that they must think about their future. Work hard now and be happy later, but later comes and they realise they missed their whole lives. Look at what Steve Jobs last words.
