When I first started playing the game, I really had a tough time progressing through the game. Everything was unwelcoming, unknown and tried to kill me. But after I killed the Taurus Demon, a boss a tried to beat 10 times, a went down the stairs, and then I saw a figure standing at the balcony. The way he talked, a wholesome way for sure, was sooo valuable and and comforting. While the whole world there was collapsing, this character just kept on going and was always optimistic. In fact, if you open the Lost Izalith shortcut, he can be saved. I really loved the fact that his summon sign was there for the final bossfight with Gwyn
This video is brilliant, been watching lore videos since 2015 and this has been the most eye opening one! We are experiencing his world just as he experienced Tolkein's, what a fun revelation :)
Solaire of Astora is such a kind soul. I try to always save him from going mad in Izalith so we can fight Gwyn together. Great video by the way. Praise the Sun! \[T]/
Solaire is one of the very, very few friends we get through our journey. Moreso that he helps us, BUT! And that's the BIG BUTT: one of the few we can help ourselves to reach his goal without succumbing to a dire fate.
I remember how I was about to give up the game then I came across this kindhearted NPC I was like maybe things aren’t that bad at all I eventually gave up the game but this guy was unforgettable. Planning to go back soon.
Honestly, dark souls doesn’t deserve solaire, he is just too pure, the only character in a game that I genuinely love But I suppose that’s his charm, the circumstances he is in \[T]/
I loved Solaire so much that when I made my character for DS3 I came up with a whole wacky headcanon of Solaire's soul somehow becoming fused with my DS1 character soul's to form an entirely new being, making my DS3 character a sort of spiritual son of the two of them. I even built my skills around that idea, essentially using the same build I used in DS1 but also investing heavily in faith and sunlight miracles.
Whats crazy is the INSANE STORIES AND LORE he manages to create using inspiration from titles he only halfway understands the plot of and makes the best series of games ever😍😍😍😍i remember i was so much more excited for dark souls 2 and 3 than i was for any other release i can think of
Tolkien? TOLKIEN?! George R.R. Martin, who was not only a major inspiration for Dark Souls but also the main writer of Elden Ring, and you don't even mention him? I love LotR as much as anyone else but c'mon. Theres more than one R.R. these day and Tolkien is no longer the most influential one.
