Personally I think 4 Villanova guys on the Knicks might serve to isolate the players who aren’t Villanova . It might be a good thing that the Nets won’t have a hand in improving the Knicks and gifting them Bridges

Yes they will wait to sign Hartenstein and OG with deals already in place. Hold off signing them until after they bring in new players

Knicks get Mikal Bridges, Nick Richards Hornets get Mitch Robinson, Ben Simmons, 2-1st from Knicks Nets get Miles Bridges, Bojan Bogdanovic, Davis Bertans, 3-1st from Knicks Knicks complete their Nova Knicks, would free cap space to resign IHart, and get a great back up big on a team friendly deal. Hornets get a top 10 center (when healthy) which they sorely lack and 2-1st. I’m not sure if Miles wants to stay in Charlotte, so at least the Hornets would get some value back. Nets get Miles Bridges in a sign & trade, who is 2 years younger than Mikal, has high upside, and better than Jalen Green (who Rockets proposed in a trade with Bk). They’d also rid themselves of Ben Simmons and waive Bogi and Bertans, freeing up nearly $30m in cap space, which they’ll need to avoid the luxury tax, after resigning Claxton and Cam Thomas. Most importantly, they’d get at least 3-1st round picks from the Knicks. Everyone wins!

I don’t want to lose Mitch. I’d rather go 4 picks with Bogdanovic than to trade Mitch. There’s value in the whole of the parts.

Doesn't work at all. 1) Miles Bridges cannot even be traded 2) Even if Bridges could be part of this deal, that's ~30 mil out but ~57 million in for the Hornets, they can't just suddenly have 27 million more on their books for 2 of the most often injured guys in the league 3) The Hornets get effed in this trade money aside. Why would they want to burden themselves with Ben Simmons and his massive contract right now. 4) Nick Richards is a downgrade from Robinson for NY. Even if they were even/cancelled each other out, then Knicks would be paying 5 1st rounders and Bogie for Bridges in this trade. I think they are going max 4 and should be striving for 3. I think Robinson for Nick Richards and 1-2 1st round pick is closer to fair because Robinson is a lot better.... so if Knicks paid 4 for Bridges and got one-2 back they really should only total losing more like 3 picks here not 5.

@JustinDean93
@JustinDean93 4 месяца назад
@@LysergiCoyotl 1. why can’t Bridges be traded? I specified it would have to be through a sign and trade. 2. If the Hornets have the cap space - which they do, why can’t they take in $57M? That’s perfectly allowable by NBA rules. 3. I included 2-1st as extra incentive. I’m not saying it’s the best possible package the Hornets can find, but if Miles Bridges decides to go elsewhere, they may try to get some value in return. Mitch would be the best big they’ve had in 10 years and Ben is on an expiring deal. 4. Nick Richards isn’t important necessarily. The Knicks have Anunoby and Robinson, who are both injury prone. Julius is returning from a shoulder injury that may affect his ability for a while - there’s no guarantee he’ll be in all star form at the start of next season. So the Knicks should be proactive and move someone instead of sitting back and hoping they all stay healthy. Because we have Hartenstein, Mitch is the odd man out. With this trade the Knicks could match any offer IHart receives in free agency. Richards is a solid back up big, on a team friendly deal. All the elite wing defenders the Knicks would gain in this deal, I think, would offset the size they’d lose at the rim.
@LysergiCoyotl
@LysergiCoyotl 4 месяца назад
@@JustinDean93 Just because Hornets might have the cap space doesnt mean they want 27 extra mil on the books for 2 injury prone players - one of whom arguably has one of worst contracts in NBA history .... and they're gonna want to give up cheap young players and all their cap for this in a rebuild mode? tripping.

Why the hell would we trade for and extend Paul George to an exorbitant contract, especially with all the assets thrown in including Mitchell Robinson. Both Randle and Brunson are younger and better than him by a lot without being paid 50m a year. Oh and by the way Mikal Bridges and George had an almost identical stat line this season at less than half the price and almost a decade younger. That deal would probably look like Bog, Simms and 4 1st rd picks. I’d do that a million times before even considering Paul George. Whoever ya plug is got the gas because y’all gotta be smoking some 🔥🔥🔥

Lauri Markkenan is a 7.0 who’s a sharpshooter from the 3. NY doesn’t have a Center who can hit the 3 and open up the paint. And Lauri can run when facing teams like the Pacers.

@user8-artI-9167-ama 4 месяца назад
What about defense, rim protection, rebounding, blocking shots and hustling. In addition to shooting gotta play defense in Thibs system. Lauri seems like an oft injured 4-5. Knicks dictate on offense where they forced Pacers to play half court
@ahmednesbitte4906
@ahmednesbitte4906 4 месяца назад
@@user8-artI-9167-ama Mitch Robinson can’t stay healthy. One of the best defenders but little to no offense. Hartenstein has an achilles issue. Hartenstein good in the paint some offense and very good defense. The paint stays congested, with those two Centers. With Markkenan he can open up the paint with his 3 pt shooting, so defenses won’t be able to key on just Brunson. We have Hart, OG and McBride for defense, which is more than any team in the NBA. Most teams only have one like Green from Golden State. Etc.

Knicks will not deal with Danny Ainge and Utah for Lauri. Utah will want a ransom for Markkenan and Knicks do not want to overpay. Knicks can negotiate from position of strength because they have the desirable players and picks. Resigning IHart and OG are top priorities and they run it back. Knicks FO will make signing IHart a possibility even if they convinced him to take 2 year deal and later down the road he gets a better long term deal. There is nowhere in the NBA that IHart will have a better chance to start and win with the pieces the Knicks have. Brunson, Hart and team convinces IHart to stay

I love how optimistic you guys are a little skeptical of how light those numbers are for Brunson randle and og but it’s your team so I’ll give you guys the benefit of the doubt you made solid cases why but 31 a year for og is wild depending on what happens with pg OG will probably be the top free agent on every teams board why would he take a 9 mill cut when he could play for a contender get shots and get all the 40 he asked for and the Knicks kind of have to pay him what he wants and I don’t see ihart leaving any money on the table or the opportunity to start why would he take less than capela or Allen did 2 years ago he’s 26 and can get paid and start and play for a contender in okc where he would slot perfectly I think the Knicks bring back all these guys but it’s gonna be expensive

31 isn't the average annual value, that's just roughly what a contract that pays you $35 million a year on average pays out in year 1 with 8% raises each year thereafter $31, 33.5, 36.2, 39.05m would be the rough math for a 4 year/$140m deal

Grant will make at most $36m on his current deal which is what OG's would average out to with a salary of around $40m in his final year if he signed a deal worth an average of $35m, so no, I don't think they're equal. But also all deals in the NBA aren't linear, some guys get overpaid and some guys get underpaid

The Knicks have sucked ass for 20 years. They are in the biggest market in the world. They are one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. I don’t want to hear about an apron. Improve this team. We’ve paid $170 for bad seats for decades!

If it was just as simple as spending Dolan's money or not, it would be a no brainer to just spend tons of money. But if you listen to the episode hopefully it'd be informative to you, it's less an issue of the dollars and cents and more that if the Knicks spend too much too quickly, they could nuke whatever title window they might be able to have with Brunson via a bunch of penalties the league has put in place with regard to draft picks, trades, and more for teams that are the highest spenders

@@LockedOnKnicks I’m a 44 year old and Knick fan since 1991. I totally get it. I watch, watched and understand the/your videos for the past 4-5 years. As long as they’re not 5 year Ben Simmons contracts we’ll be fine. It’s when guys get those contracts and suck for the duration that kills teams. GS won one under, two through and another one after being over the apron. That’s four since 2015. If we can continue to get guys to sign for a little bit less we can squeeze space for the one extra player we need. The player we need? Another big wing, a 3&D animal just like OG. The two of them in the corners on offense and on defense. Swiping at penetration and splashing 3’s. If we have an opportunity to get Mikal ($23mil) for Bogdanovic (basically expiring $20mil) $2million from somewhere and 2-3 picks…we’d be absolutely fine. A championship contender, with a 4-5 year window as our players are on average about 26-27. A strong starting unit and a strong bench. “Strength in numbers.” Though the penalties hurt the Knicks chances to get others…we’d be good enough to not need others. They will make the money back in sellouts, playoff tickets, merchandise, etc. And, if we make this move we don’t have to trade any more picks other than the years coming where we don’t like any prospects and turn them into picks in later years as we get older/more expensive so we can revamp. All I’m saying is that it is time to be aggressive. #letsgoKNICKS 💯✊🏾🤷🏾‍♂️

@@lyriktehuti I get what you're saying, but the aprons and the rules restricting them starting this summer get way more punitive than they've ever been. Again it's just gonna behoove the Knicks to make sure they make that move at the right time and are ready to lock in for a few years. I'm with you in the sense that the time for that move is probably this summer and a guy like Mikal makes a lot of sense. But if the Knicks make that move and end up in the second apron, they'd just better be sure the team they've built is ready to go get a title. That's the whole point of this ep
